The Casting Rule -- ABOLISHED!
Limits on VPN casting have now been removed. We know, to most of you, this is a "Ding. Dong. The witch is dead" moment. After discussion evoked between the network executives and many voices of theVPN's body, we've decided to put the rule which states "An actor/actress can only appear in one leading webseries role at time, and cannot be cast in a pitch without permission from the showrunner of the series that particular actor is appearing on," to an official end. The rule was established during the "early-days," or what I like to call "The Dark Ages," of theVPN (when the forum was still being called The Virtual Productions Network). Reasons behind the rule's creation were quite justifiable, at the time. Double casting was becoming a trend on the forum, and while it didn't begin as a problem, it turned into one and we only wanted to stop it before it got out of hand. However, the forum is not what it used to be. Both the forum itself, its leaders and its members, have greatly matured and we suspect they will continue to do so. With that, I do not suspect there to be a repeat of the "not-so glory days." In the long run, the negatives and issues raised from that rule, by far, outnumbered the rewards, and in turn, we can officially put it behind us and look to a brighter future here at theVPN!
