Exclusive Interview with Josh Holloway and Laurie Holden
While they were taking a break from shooting, we “stumbled onto” Land of the Living Dead actors Josh Holloway and Laurie Holden. They were kind enough to sit down for a quick interview with us and answer a couple of questions that have been circling around the upcoming series.
Being a Zombie series, we’re all naturally curious… what’s our deal here?
“Shit is going down… you all have no idea.”, Josh says with a devious grin. “There will be plenty of the undead in there”, Laurie promises and goes on to elaborate. “But our show is very much about the characters. The people in this Convoy. We get to follow their daily lives, surviving in this nightmarish after-society and trying to keep each other’s spirits up best they can. And I must say, I think we’ve got an interesting set of people in this series, each with their own little things going on that make them stand out… so even in the Zombie-less scenes, we should still be keeping you entertained.” Josh laughs and adds: “If we’ve been doing our job right.”
How far would you say the series will go, on the graphic side of things?
Josh and Laurie look to each other, before Josh simply repeats. “Shit is going down here.” Laurie smirks with a knowing tinkle in her eyes and adds: “We’ll be pulling no punches and none of us are safe. Ever.”
You said characters, Laurie… could the two of you tell us a bit about your own?
“Rick is a tough son of a bitch.” Josh chuckles. “He used to be a cop, but he’s put the badge away in light of leading this Convoy. He doesn’t want respect because of his past, I think, but rather wants to build respect through making the right decisions that keep his people alive another day. He holds up a hard exterior and is always trying to maintain his strength for everyone and he is ready to go to great lengths if emergency requires… which, I feel I can say, we’ll be going there.”
“Martha has been feeling uncomfortable in her skin.” Laurie kicks off. “She’s been feeling discomfort in the sense that she feels like this role she’s been playing for so long, this stay-at-home mom and housewife, is not who she really is. Now, with all this shit going down, she’s slowly but noticeably making a change to that. She’s carrying her little family’s only gun, she’s generally taken over her husband John’s role as the “provider” so to say of the family. So you can expect to see Martha taking on even bigger things to do as their journey continues.” Laurie grins excitedly and adds: “I also have to mention that there will be a pretty cool sequence involving Martha and a big woodcutter’s axe early in the first season… and that'll only be the start of her relationship with that particular weapon.”
Is there anything else you would like to add yourselves? Hints? Spoilers?
“We can’t say much more without spoiling important things.” Josh says. Laurie finishes with: “And I’ll have to echo what Josh has said twice already… shit is going down here.”
