Warner Bros. is expected to announce at its Hall H panel that as the follow-up to Man of Steel, it is pairing two of the most recognizable superheroes in the world for a one-two punch that will be directed by Zack Snyder. Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Superman, but it is unclear who will play Batman in the new film. A release date of 2015 has been set, with tentative plans for a Flash movie appearing in 2016 and a Justice League movie in 2017, sources said. David Goyer, who co-wrote Man of Steel, will write the script. Rumors of the team-up movie have been circulating Comic-Con for a couple of days. Snyder's Man of Steel, which rebooted the Superman franchise, has grossed north of $600 million worldwide since it hit theaters this June. Batman and Superman have a long history of teaming up in the comic book universe. Starting in 1954, D.C. published a comic titled Worlds Finest, which featured the two as best pals who joined forces. The dynamic between the two changed with Frank Miller’s 1986 The Dark Knight mini-series in which the two were on opposite sides of the philosophical and political fence. Since then, that sort of antagonism has permeated most of the stories involving their interaction. The Batman & Superman film is an interesting zigzag as D.C. builds toward a Justice League movie. Most expected D.C. to work toward its team movie with films featuring individual heroes, the way Marvel has done, or the opposite: one big movie leading to individual outings.

I'm... on the fence about this one, actually. Was hoping they would do another Superman-only movie before they brought in the World's Finest type deal. Gonna stay positive for now, though, hoping Snyder can deliver again. XD

Yeah, I'm a little skepticaL. It's still too early to tell if this is the right move or not, but I'm gonna try and stay positive and just hope for the best.

i'm confused - does that mean that whoever succeeds Christian Bale is playing a completely NEW Bruce Wayne Batman, since apparently JGH has been said he won't be assuming the cape for a Justice League movie? I suppose it would make sense - it's not been that long, relatively speaking since "Batman Begins", so we don't need ANOTHER 'origin' movie for the character.

I'm still not sold on Zack Synder as the director, but I'm sure I never will be. So, I should probably just accept it and move on. (This is me moving on) Anyway, I'm looking forward to getting more details on the sequel. "Man of Steel" was a pretty good movie. Flawed, yes, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Hopefully, with the sequel, they set more room aside for character building and development, because that's something I was missing a bit from the first film.
As for Batman's inclusion in the sequel... I mean, come on. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited to see how they're gonna pull it off. But with that excitement is also a sh*t ton of nerves, for many many reasons. But I guess we're just gonna have to wait and see what comes next.

Ben Affleck is set to star as Batman in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel sequel, Warner Bros. has announced.
As reported by The Wrap, Greg Silverman, President of Creative Development and Worldwide Production at Warner Bros. made the following statement earlier today:
“We knew we needed an extraordinary actor to take on one of DC Comics’ most enduringly popular Super Heroes, and Ben Affleck certainly fits that bill, and then some. His outstanding career is a testament to his talent and we know he and Zack will bring new dimension to the duality of this character.”
“Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman," added director Synder. He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him.”
“We are so thrilled that Ben is continuing Warner Bros.’ remarkable legacy with the character of Batman," continued Warner Bros. Sue Kroll. He is a tremendously gifted actor who will make this role his own in this already much-anticipated pairing of these two beloved heroes."
The Man of Steel sequel is currently slated to open worldwide on July 17, 2015.

I'm going to hold my tongue until I see a trailer, at least. I also think I'm gonna try watching a few of Affleck's more recent films.

This fan made trailer just got me so excited. I really need Bryan Cranston to be confirmed as Lex Luthor. lol And after giving myself a few days to think about it, Ben Affleck is really not too bad a choice for Batman.

Fast & Furious actress Gal Gadot has been cast as Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman. Variety has the scoop on the casting. The possible inclusion of Wonder Woman in the film has been one of the most buzzed about aspects of the hugely anticipated DC Comics/Warner Bros. project. “Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe,” director Zack Snyder said of the casting. “Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character.” Gadot will of course join Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman in the film, which is a sequel to Man of Steel but is also being designed to broaden the DC movie universe. Recently, word on the street had been that Gadot was in the running for the role along with G.I. Joe: Retaliation’s Elodie Yung and Quantum of Solace’s Olga Kurylenko and that the trio of actresses had each tested for the part of the Amazon princess. Variety adds that “insiders believe the plan is to have not just Batman and Superman in the film but several members of the Justice League as well. It’s unclear which members, but Wonder Woman (Diana Prince) and the Flash are said to be locks to make an appearance in some fashion, whether that’s a significant role or a cameo.” Additionally, the studio is now moving on to casting the unnamed villain of the film. Zero Dark Thirty and 300: Rise of the Empire’s Callan Mulvey is said to be under consideration. Article from IGN

I'm really digging it, as well. I'm still wondering about the colors. I'm pretty sure it'll be a solid black suit, but some fans are still hoping to see black and blue.
