Hi, I was just wondering if the same casting rules apply to a virtual film? Are we not allowed to use VS series regulars or are we? Or do we have to clear it up with the Showrunner? Thanks! ;D

Thanks! ;D Same rules apply, however, people may be more accepting of their actors/actresses being used in film rather than on another virtual series, so it wouldn't hurt to ask. But yeah, we do prefer to see fresh faces, whether it be in virtual films or tv series.

Okay, I'm gonna have to step in here now and state my opinion, in its full honesty... I do not think that the same rule should apply to movies. Movies are a completely different medium; they're, usually, a one-time thing, and, if we're thinking realistically, an actor can do a movie during, say, a break on a show he or she is starring in. And if movies have that same rule attached to them... well, sooner rather than later, it'll be pretty damn hard to find any good faces. Just felt like I had to toss in my little opinion there.

For the most part, you wont get any hell for using an actor already cast in a vs. In most cases you won't have to ask permission, unless you're using one of the lead characters (usually, there is a lead male and female) but to respect both projects and creators, in the long run, what's the harm in asking? And that's how Chris C's it lol

Honestly, I don't think the film medium is that large here, and I think if we we're getting an even balance of movie/series pitches, the rule could change. I know we're a bit more lenient with films when it comes to cast, because I do agree with you in that actors/actress can go film a movie whilst being on a series, but again, I think its only fair to allow the showrunner the opportunity to say yes or no in regards to who they have playing their characters. Besides, there's nothing worse than putting time and effort into a pitch, only to have your first response be: "Sorry, you can't use her."
Anyway, I'm not sure on what the official rule is, but I think its important to - if you're considering to use an actor from another virtual series in a regular position - to ask the showrunner before anything else.
EDIT: For me, I have no problem with people using the cast from WT for films. But where I draw the line is: don't cast Allison Mack in your film because your character is like Chloe Sullivan. Don't cast Christian Bale in your film because the character is like Batman/Bruce Wayne. It seems stupid to bring up, but it happens ... a lot.
