"In a time when the world was young, and demons ran unfettered across the face of the Earth, the Powers That Be chose a young woman; one girl in all the world, to combat the forces of darkness. Upon her death, the power passed to another, and another. Down over a Millenia, with each girl inheriting the power of her predecessor; the power of the Slayer..."
SYNOPSIS In the city of Sunnydale, California, Buffy Summers, a young, carefree woman discovers that she is the next Slayer; an ancient line of woman, chosen by the Gods to fight the forces of evil until an inevitable death. She finds herself on the edge of a world she never dreamed of, as she must train herself to fight vampires, demons and other creatures that go bump in the night.
Upon her being chosen, Sunnydale is visited by an old vampire, hoping to reopen the Hellmouth; a barrier that separates our world from the many demon dimensions in existence. In light of this, Buffy is handed a Watcher, that serves as her teacher and guide. Along with her close friends, Willow and Alexander, the group must protect the city from an onslaught of beings that have come to destroy them, as well as maintain order in her home and work life.

This is such a fascinating pitch, and so original. I like that the title of the series is so out-there, and unique -- Buffy? Such a fresh, new name. People will identifiy with the name of the show, and the character, because of how quirky it is. The idea of having this power thrust upon this woman -- well, its definitely something we haven't seen before. And I think it could also represent this message of empowerment, and prove that this "Buffy" character could be just as powerful as any other male hero.
Great cast - Yvonne Strahovski is perfect for this. And I'm assuming "The Master" is the primary villain -- he looks creepy as all hell. Anyway, good luck with this. I'm blown away by the creativity and originality of this pitch, and you should really develop this further. I can't wait to see a pilot for this. Perhaps you could call it "Welcome to the Hellmouth" or even make it a two-parter? With a follow up, called "The Harvest." Its up to you, of course. I just love this pitch so much.
