I'm going to watch this, but I'm still skeptical on if it will wow me or just be another failure in the franchise. I have high hopes because it does look like a good movie, but at the same time I've remembered how the others looked like a good movie and then it was a let down. I am, till this day, still reeling from the Brandon Routh remake. So I am going to give this a chance. HOPEFULLY, like Edward and Liz saved The Hulk, Henry and the writers can save Superman.

My only fear for this movie is that there will be an overuse of CGI effects, and, I guess, in a way, it being too alien. Other than that, I think its going to be pretty epic. The latest trailer even convinced me on the actress they cast for Lois Lane.

When they announced that Zack Snyder was directing, I already had it in my mind that there would be an overuse of effects. It's expected in this films, so I gave myself time to get over that and eventually, come to accept it. I'm just hoping for a good storyline. If the story is good, and the script is well written, I think it'll be a good movie.

Just got back from the Premiere at my theatre. Awesome movie, just saying. Almost didn't see it tonight, during the opening scene the video kept freezing then stopped all together, the people assured us the problem was being looked after. After about half an hour they finally came and redirected us to a new theatre where we were able to watch the movie from beginning to end. Also, cool plus was they had a collectible cup for Man Of Steel, and they also gave out special Man Of Steel 3D glasses (blue instead of standard black, with Man Of Steel written up the side). Can't really go too in depth due to my phone lacking the use of the full reply menu and not letting me use spoiler tags, but it was indeed an awesome movie, everyone did their roles very well, annnnnnnddddd everyone should go see it!

Just got back from the movie, and I have to say that I really, really loved it. I've never disagreed with critics more than I have with "Man of Steel". I seriously thought it was incredible, and will definitely be buying it when it comes out on Blu-Ray!
The film does a fantastic job of what it's set out to do: tell the origin of Superman in a modern day setting. Another thing it does rather well is portraying Superman as a man without the super attached to it. And while I won't get into spoilers, he makes a pretty drastic decision which humanizes him in a way that nothing has done since possibly the original Superman film from the 70's. And while Clark is developed just enough for a first film, I'll admit that some of the other characters don't get enough screen time to develop them. But, being a first film and an already planned sequel coming, it didn't bother me as it seemed to bother some of the critics.
Russel Crowe truly stands out as Jor-El, probably the best among the cast. I also really enjoyed Kevin Costner, and I thought he was in it just enough to pull at your heartstrings when he has emotional scenes with Clark. Amy Adams is great in the role of Lois Lane. She packs just enough punch and keeps the character feminine. By the second film, she might outrank Erica Durance as my favorite Lois Lane to date. Michael Shannon is creepy enough for Zod, and Antje Traue is great as his right-hand woman, Faora. Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne were solid as well, and should develop pretty nicely in the next film.
I would just like to warn you if you're going to see this movie: it's a superhero movie. It has action, and lots of it. Do not go to see this movie is action is not your thing, because you'll just end up being disappointed. Also, there's a lot of CGI, as the first twenty minutes takes place on Krypton, and plenty of scenes take place on a spaceship, and again, there's lots of action, and, to me, the CGI does wonders and makes this film a visual masterpiece.
I'm very satisfied with this film, and thought Synder did his job well, and if I seriously can't wait to see what he does with the sequel now that he has the origin and introduction out of the way. But I still can't get over the fact that this is only getting mixed reviews. Baffles me, actually. Sure, this film is not for everybody, but the complaints such as "not witty enough" really make me laugh. Seems like a superhero movie has to make you laugh 40% of the time or it's just not enjoyable.
4.5/5

So first I'm going to say your review gives me hope for the film, and now I'm really looking forward to it, but- BOLD STATEMENT, MY FRIEND Hahahah, but no, I seriously can't wait to see Amy Adams as Lois Lane. XD

LMAO!! I know, I know! I couldn't believe it either, but I thought she did a great job in all honesty. That makes me so happy! Especially coming out of the WORST Lois Lane in Superman Returns. I've always loved Amy Adams, but there's always that level of nervousness. I can't wait to watch it. I swear, this is the one film that doesn't come out in Australia earlier than everywhere else. -.-

I just read someone say that the action in this film makes The Avengers look like Power Rangers. XD So, if that helps any of you decide...

Okay, I'm sorry, but I've skimmed some more reviews for this, which I really need to stop doing, and just... ugh. RANT TIME PEOPLE:
First, the complaint of it not being "funny enough" or have "enough wit". Like, ARE WE SERIOUS? Are we still stuck on Christopher Reeve's Superman from the 70's? People, why does it have to be funny? Are we really stuck on the formulaic plot that a superhero movie needs to be funny? If I recall correctly, correct me if I'm wrong, Superman isn't funny. The wittiness of the DC Universe mainly come from Green Lantern and Flash. Again, correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never found Superman to be ROFL funny. Seriously, get to the 21st century people, Superman from the 70's is in the past.
Another thing I've read occasionally is that they didn't live up to "their Superman".... ?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?! Excuse me, what? WHAT? THEIR. SUPERMAN? No sh*t your Superman's going to be different. The last time most of these people saw a decent Superman movie was from the 70's so, he's bound to change just a little, don't you think? Like, seriously, take your biases and go away please. It seems they're still hung up on a clumsy Clark Kent, and a hypnotic kiss that wipes Lois' memory instead of a strong woman who demands to know the truth.
It's seriously sad that these critics can't actually enjoy the movie, and have to compare it to some many different things. We see Krypton, and feel like we're there. It sets up a culture that makes it a civilization. We see the influence Jor-El and Jonathan have on Clark to become the man we know so well. Again, it's a shame that some have to compare it to a movie that came out over 30 years ago.
/end rant.
