SUMMERYNew York, The city of dreams. Where the lights of Time Square illuminate Broadway and the glorious players on the stages. Young Calli Forbes from Nashville, Tennessee, has left her roots from the country side to the bright lights of New York. When she comes across a small theater, The Evelyn James Theater, she learns that not everything about Broadway is perfect. But when the theater is threatened to be closed, Calli takes a stand and fights back. Upon the terms, the Theater group has six months to rehearse the show written by Robert Tate (Lenny Kravitz) and Brenda Fitch (Idina Menzal) called “Stand”, a Broadway show with music that would relate to the show. But when Calli is cast as the lead, rivalries start between her and Melody (Lindsay Pearce). But as Evelyn James once said “It’s not about the roles. It’s about the art”. From the creator of “The Path not Taken”, Brian Melanson presents, a story about Love, Friendship, Hate, Music, and Broadway. SING: Stand up and Sing!CASTTaylor Swift as Calli Forbes BIO: Calli Forbes was your average American girl. She went out with friends. Listened to music. Played guitar. But the one thing she knew she would do is become a star on Broadway. From the age of seven, she knew her name would be up in lights. But that did not stop her from being a friend. Her huge heart is what sets her apart from other stars on Broadway. Upon arriving in New York, she faces hardships until she comes across the theater group that would change her life. And after being casted as the lead, she has made both friends and enemies in this theater. Could it change her sweet southern hospitality, into a raging drama queen?
Lindsay Pearce as Melody Hillford BIO: From age Three, Melody has been the talk of the town in New York. Born and raised she never lost sight of the craft that was Theater Arts. A child actor and she is using her fame to revive the Evelyn James. But what she’s hiding is, after a scandalous article about her, she must revive her good reputation as the “good girl” but what lies underneath is the diva from hell.
Grant Gustin as Alec Porter BIO: He was just your boy next door. After acting in his High School productions, he thought Broadway was the place he belonged. The most important thing to him is kindness, generosity and sometimes a friend. Alec is always there for those who need him. Behind the extraordinary talent as both as a singer and actor, lies the kind hearted boy next door. But when his eyes are set upon Calli, he will start to fall not only for her but off the stage?
Matthew Bomer as Jackson Queens BIO: Jackson was just an average guy before he came out of the closet and his life became a living hell back home. The only way he knew out was to start a new life, in a new place, with a new name. But Broadway has changed him, and could he lose sight of who he once was? Or will it all come back to haunt him?
With Lenny Kravitz as Ronald Tate BIO: Once Broadway actor now turned playwright, has had a knack for telling stories from a young age. His debut show as a playwright was a failure and has been blackballed in Broadway. But that did not stop him from doing what he loves. Could “Stand” be the show that puts him back onto the map and removes the black mark on his name?
And Idina Menzal as Brenda Fitch BIO: Brenda Fitch has had to raise herself from the start. No parents to care for her, she raised herself. Not once did she let anyone walk over her. The only place she could be herself was the stage, under the lights, singing songs until her voice cracked. When she and Ronald became friends, they wrote the show “Stand”. But through the process, did Brenda develop feelings that she’s never had for anyone before? EPISODES 1.01: Pilot SING FOR WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN! Calli Forbes (Taylor Swift) has been waiting for this day her whole life. The day she could go onto Broadway. As she auditions for various shows and struggling on her pay check to stay in her apartment, she comes across “The Evelyn James Theater” which was once owned by a Broadway legend. And when singing a song and getting the lead role in a show. Her life changes. But when she learns that the theater would be closing, she takes a stand and tries to think of ways to help the theater. The First Episode in the SING series
1.02: Watch the Sandbags Sweetheart WE CAN'T GIVE UP NOW! Rehearsals have begun on the show “Stand”. And tensions are higher than ever! With the theater falling apart, and no money to fix it. Calli and Alec set out to find new ways of getting money. Meanwhile, Brenda and Ronald set out to find the ensemble cast.

CREATORS NOTES:This show, I feel, will be different from anything I've ever tackled before. I've always had a passion for the theater and Broadway. Glee was a huge inspiration in this but so was the My Chemical Romance song "SING". I wanted to do this show for a while. But it took a while to perfect the story of the season and how it would play out. The casting is a crew of actors I have yet to work with so it'll be fun to see new faces when writing this show.
But as for the message I want to give with this show, is the that it's not too late to give up on your dreams. That's what the main theme of the show is. Currently I am plotting on other cast members that would join the show but would be the guest cast because I have many stories planned for the characters.
Leave your thoughts on what could change, could be added, could be removed ETC Just leave a comment and I can't wait to see your thoughts ;D

Hey, Brian! Don't know if I've ever talked to you on here, but here are my thoughts on this: I think this is something that I could get in to. I find it very fresh, if that makes sense. xD I love the premise! The cast is very nice, but I would love to see some Character Descriptions. Now, you may be writing them at the moment, so I will back off on that part. The first episode has potential, but all I can really see is her saving the theater for the first episode. And then she just picks up and has the musical the next episode? You may have something planned for this, but that just struck me as a little odd. Sorry if I'm stating something that has an answer right in front of me! xD Last question: This will be a musical series, correct? I'm just making that assumption because it is entitled "Sing" and is based on Broadway. Just something I think you should state. All in all, this could be very promising. And, I think I could become a fan very quick. And if you need any help, or are confused by anything I've stated, let me know! And, sorry if I posted something so stupid the answer should be obvious. ;D

It's interesting, Brian. Solid concept so far, but I think I'd be able to take more from the pitch when you add character bios, because right now I see what the show might be, but it doesn't have much of a voice due to the absence of that information. I like it though Unlike Glee, this show isn't centered inside a high school environment, at least I don't think... which is really good. The cast is interesting. Full of Glee people, so I can tell that was an inspiration for this drama. I'm interested in how you handle the "singing" parts of the show. Making a series like this that relies heavily on voice and singing, it may be hard to keep people into a script without the actual vocals. Scripting lyrics of already developed songs wouldn't be very interesting, but I would LOVE to read original lyrics for this show. It would probably make up for there being no actual vocals. Well, that's my two cents. Looking forward to more info on your characters. Then, I'll comment again Good luck with this, Brian.

LOL but thanks for your input! I am gonna start the character Bios soon. As for Original song lyrics....I suck at writing music ahahah but we'll see!

ALSO A NOTE: The show isn't all about singing and the music! I want it to be about the characters and the world around them. Forgot to put that out there. AND NOT THIS IS NOT IN HIGH SCHOOL! This is real life stuff

I say, if you've got fantastic characters, a great plot and lots of nice development... you have something here I will be writing some music but NOT EVERY EPISODE! ahahah It would be a lot to handle. As for the characters, I have some stories that have defined who they are in the present day of the show so it's quite interesting what I have planned in my head.

And I could maybe help with the songwriting! XD I love writing songs. Just need a theme/vibe, and I could possibly think of something not half bad. Maybe a fourth bad... but not half. lmfao!

UPDATE: I have written THREE SONGS for the show and none of them will be will released fully lyric wise. But for titles here there are
THE VERY FEW (A love ballad sung by Calli and Alec) DADDY ARE YOU COMING HOME? (An Alec solo) And I AM THE STAR (Melody Solo) all of these songs will be performed and lyrics will be released in full when episode has aired. Now as for the tune, I have tunes in my head but have no clue on how to produce them. So...that'll be hard because I want you all to be able to listen and hear them as if you were watching the show.
As for the Pilot
I am currently story boarding it, wondering what should go where and how I should give depth to the show and support it. Also, music that is already written will be in the show, but original music will be the fore front and the already produced music will be used for Auditions, a fundraiser, and just practicing before rehearsal. This will be fun to do! The only two songs I have in mind are I DREAMED A DREAM from Le Miserables and SING from My Chemical Romance.
Stick with me folks. I am currently trying to sort out Season Two of "The Path" which I have to say is exciting!
