Most writers here on the forum love writing scripts, or else, why would we be doing it? But with everything you love, comes a list of things you love... a lot less. So tell us, what are some of the things that must go into writing a script that you just can't stand doing or at least, would be fine if you never had to do again?
For me, here's a couple of them off the top of my head;
- Establishing shots. I know they aren't necessarily NEEDED all of the time, but when I feel like I do need to establish a location before going into the scene, I hate it, especially if it's just a aerial/skyline shot. I mean, how many different ways can you describe a city in detail? It doesn't help that I practically used one at the beginning of EVERY episode of Trinity for some off reason.
- Teasers. I admit, teasers can be a great tool. Sometimes they work, but sometimes they just get on my nerves. I often get so focused on setting up the episode with the teaser and how perfect it has to be in establishing the tone and focus of the episode, that I NEVER make it past the damn thing. So, I've written them off in general, unless the style of the show I'm writing calls for one.
So come on, what are some of yours? Or do you just love everything about writing scripts? (liar)

Yeah, I have a real love hate relationship with Teasers. XD But something I truly hate... Phone conversations. Like, with a passion. If I have to throw a phone convo in there, I try to make it as short as possible, unless... there's no absolute way to do it. I don't know why I don't like them, they're just really irritating for me to write. And it's like whenever I finish one I'm just like:

So much of this, it isn't even funny. I usually just try and work around it by describing the sun/moon and its light hitting the structures or some dull crap, I don't even know. Its probably in every script I've ever written, I swear to god, just because doing these 'establishing shots' annoy me. I've always wondered if its okay, though, to just go- "EXT" with no description underneath, then "INT" and get cracking into it. I've seen it in some places, but I'm just not confident enough to do it, and sometimes it looks too weird for me, so I don't know. Yeah, I have a real love hate relationship with Teasers. And it's like whenever I finish one I'm just like: I actually love teasers, only because its probably one of the largest parts of the script that I can really picture vividly- thinking of the very first thing it opens on, what would draw someone in, and then that epic moment before the credits like explode through. But I do agree that sometimes, when an episode doesn't necessarily call for that big moment in the teaser, its like "what the hell do I do?!" And you just wanna cut it out all together, hahaha. As for phone conversations- 100% agree. Hate them. Like, can NOT express my hate for that. AT ALL. Hate it.

Haha! Phone conversations don't actually bother me. I just write it like normal dialogue, stay on one person and the other person talking gets a little (OVER PHONE) parenthetical next to their name. If I do switch back and forth between scenes (which I rarely ever do) I can see how I could start to hate them. lmao! Another thing I dislike doing is introducing characters. I don't think I hate it, I just know it's not one of the things I'm best at, so I try to work around it as much as I can. But when writing pilots, like I'm doing right now, I'm having to introduce all of these freaking characters and it's driving me crazy. I'm on page 25 and I've still got one or two more characters that need to be introduced. Me and my stupid ensemble casts... When introducing characters here all I've been giving is their age, hair color and length and their expression at the moment. I know that's not enough but I may go back and add more description later. So annoying.

To this date, phone calls still make me nervous. Although now what I do is establish the two scenes, and then stay in one with "INTERCUT WITH THIS CHARACTER AND THIS CHARACTER ON THE PHONE" and just write it like normal dialogue.

I got a new one and I just found this out. CAR CHASES. Had to write one for an episode of Tomb Raider and it totally kicked my ass. Was stumped for like three days, if not more. Finally got through it after watching a bunch of car chase scenes on YouTube, and even looking up a few articles on writing them. Will avoid if at all possible in the future.

It's funny because I was just writing one for 315, and I completely changed the scene because of how much I just did not want to write it. I recently wrote one for 312 and that was painful enough.
