CHARACTER HIGHLIGHT - ADAM DASHNER Season one of “Reality” is currently underway, but VSGUIDE was able to catch series star Shane West, who portrays criminal Adam Dashner, who is one of the two main characters attempting to gain their freedom. VSGUIDE: With “Reality” being picked up just a couple of weeks ago, many users may not be aware with the show’s premise. Care you describe the premise for us? SHANE: Well, basically, scientist discovered that traveling between dimensions was entirely possible. So, when our big ‘ole President got a hold of this information, he decided to hold a lottery and send several criminals to various dimensions. But something malfunctioned, and mine and Anna [Kendrick]’s character were left behind, and to gain our freedom, we have to go and bring all of the other criminals back. VSGUIDE: Well, it seems pretty obvious that “Reality” is a sci-fi show, but are there any other genres the show falls under? SHANE: Oh, definitely! It has tons of adventure, as we go to a different dimensions in each episode. And along with that, action totally ensues. But there’s also a mystery aspect, which people who read the pilot will know about. [laughs] VSGUIDE: What kind of character is Adam? SHANE: Well, in the beginning of the pilot, he’s a very jealous, vengeful character. He’s girlfriend cheats on him, and that’s kind of what sets his whole anger into motion. But after he’s been in jail for around two years, he begins to grow a conscience, which is something Lily, Anna’s character, doesn’t take a liking to. VSGUIDE: I’m assuming that’s who your character spends the most time with? Lily? SHANE: Oh yeah. Adam doesn’t really share any scenes with anyone else after the pilot. He has some conversations with Tatiana [Malsany]’s and Gerard [Butler]’s characters, but that’s from across a computer screen thousands of dimensions away. VSGUIDE: Any dimensions you would love to visit? SHANE: Yes! I would love to go to a pirate dimension! Or aliens! One of the two, I don’t know -- both maybe! I’ll make it work, don’t worry. VSGUIDE: Care to give us any spoilers regarding the first season? SHANE: Well, I don’t know when, but there should definitely be some recurring stars being announced soon. There’s three that are set in stone, but anymore I have no idea about. VSGUIDE: Care to describe any of them? SHANE: [laughs] All I can say is that Adam has a past relationship with one of them. VSGUIDE: And we’ll leave it at that! “Reality” has been rumored to premiere in summer-to-fall of 2014! In the meantime, catch up with the first episode HERE, and don’t forget to leave your thoughts over in the discussion thread! And look for more character highlights very soon!

CASTING NEWS: CHRISTOPHER MELONI AND ELIZABETH MITCHELL JOIN "REALITY" More "Reality" news has found its way to the surface! Christopher Meloni ('Law and Order: SVU' and 'True Blood') and Elizabeth Mitchell ('LOST,' 'Revolution') have been booked for roles in the first season of the sci-fi drama! Meloni will portray Neil Burke, Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, who begins asking questioning that Veronica and Hugh don't want answered; while Mitchell will play Clarissa Langley, Lily's mother. "Neil is one of the main players in the subplot of the first season. He begins a search, which ultimately leads to several, dangerous questions," series creator Brady Brown says. "He forms a partnership with someone, and even though he works closely with the President of the United States, he begins doing anything he can to find the answers he so direly needs." "And with Clarissa, she's in flashbacks. She helps us gather a better understanding of Lily and her personality."Meloni was quoted saying his character is "connected to someone," and with yesterday's character highlight - could Neil be connected to Adam Dashner? Neil is said to make his first appearance in the second episode of the season, while Mitchell will appear in the third. Hmmm... "Peaceful Execution" is a really cool episode title, but I'm not sure what it could be about. HAHA! "Always Watching" might have something to do with the President and his people, always being able to keep tabs on Adam and Lily. Maybe something involving that. But I'm not sure! Speculation is hard!! But both titles are really neat!

EXCLUSIVE: "REALITY" FINDS ITS FIRST LADY! Kerry Washington ('Scandal,' 'D'Jango Unchained') has joined the "Reality" family as First Lady Wanda McKenzie. Wife of the President of the United States, Washington has been booked for a minor role but will play a major role in her husband's storyline. "Wanda is very much the backbone to Hugh, like most First Ladies are," series creator Brady Brown says. "I thought Kerry would be a perfect contrast to the harshness Laurence [Fishburne] will bring. It isn't long until Wanda discovers her husband's lies, but it may not be from him."Excited for the addition of Kerry Washington? Curious to see what the First Lady will bring to the sci-fi drama? Leave your comments down below, and look out for more spoilers for "Reality"! EDIT (06/10/15): Kerry Washington has now been cast in the role.

CHARACTER HIGHLIGHT - LILY LANGLEY As production for the first season of “Reality” continues, producers were able to release the second installment in their ‘Character Highlights’ series. This time around, Anna Kendrick’s Lily Langley becomes the prime focus! Lily acts as the second half to the main duo, accompanying her partner Adam along the journey through several dimensions. VSGUIDE: Hey, Anna! Now, your character seems to be a bit of a unique one; care to explain her to us? ANNA: Lily is a very, very sarcastic character. She’s a sociopath with enough attitude to go around, and sometimes she’s just flat out rude. With all of these reasons, I can’t help but love her! [laughs] VSGUIDE: Lily definitely received a lot of positive feedback in the early preview of the pilot. Thoughts on that? ANNA: I was thrilled! I was actually really fearful that Lily was going to get the “she’s not funny, why is she even here’ vibe. Luckily, she didn’t and she seems to have become a fan favorite. Hopefully she can stay that way! VSGUIDE: Any idea on what’s in store for your character this season? ANNA: This season, Lily really attempts to discover her own identity. Yeah, she knows she’s a raging bitch, but hey, accepting it’s a start, right? But no, being with Adam actually brings out a... fearful side, I guess. It’s kind of hard to explain, so just trust me. VSGUIDE: Speaking of Adam, can you describe Lily’s relationship with him? ANNA: Well, I mean... they do it. Like, doooo it. Because, I mean they’ve been in prison for God-knows-how-long. But besides that, [laughs], they quickly begin to form a best-friend-who-you-occasionally-have-sex-with type of relationship, and I think it’s goo for both of them. I really don’t want to give too much away about Lily’s journey this season, but that’s all I’m going to say for now - they do it. VSGUIDE: And since we’re discussing relationships, what about your interaction with Dr. Emilia Mead? ANNA: Oh, we become like best friends! Okay, maybe that’s a stretch. I don’t know. But anyway, Emilia is really the only one who talks to Adam and Lily like they’re normal people. She doesn’t really see them as criminals, just as people who have been given a second chance. And she’s bubbly, which, I mean, that’s a plus right there. VSGUIDE: So, we asked Shane this so - any dimensions you’d like to visit? ANNA: Uh, yes! I would seriously love to go to a medieval dimension, and possibly one with dinosaurs. Or both! VSGUIDE: To conclude, any spoilers you want to share? ANNA: Okay, I’m going to try and speak lightly for fear of getting fired, maimed, flogged, or all of the above - there’s an episode this season where we’re putting a little... ‘spin’ on a classic historical figure, and it’s going to be pretty great if you ask me. VSGUIDE: Well, there you have it folks! “Reality” has been rumored to premiere in summer-to-fall of 2014, so don’t forget to leave your thoughts over in the discussion thread! Also, keep a look out for more ‘Character Highlights’ because Dr. Emilia Mead, played by Tatiana Maslany, should be up very, very soon!

So, you probably already know this, but Lily was my favorite from the pilot. She just had a fierceness about her that I liked, and the fact that she's a sociopath was very interesting to me. I hope we'll go even deeper into her psyche as the series premieres, but she's definitely a character I'm rooting for and want to see develop. Her relationship with Adam was another high point so I'm glad you brought that up. They're friends with benefits! Two people from different backgrounds but similar circumstances being forced together. And they're both extremely attractive. It'd be confused if they DIDN'T doo it! Looking forward to Emilia's character highlight!! XD And the show's premiere. Edit: And I'm justing seeing that you cast of Robin Wright as the First Lady.

HAHA! Thanks so much, Chris! I'm really excited to dive more into Lily as I continue to write the season, and knowing you're such a fan of her I'm interested to see what you're going to think of it! Her interactions with Adam definitely get... interesting, to say the least, haha! But you're right, how can they not do it? And haven't even seen House of Cards just know Robin Wright won an award so yay for that!
