How to Get Away with Murder follows the personal and professional life of Annalise Keating, a criminal law professor at the fictional Middleton University in Philadelphia, one of the most prestigious law schools in America. A defense attorney, Annalise selects a group of her best students from her university class to work at her firm. They are Connor Walsh, Michaela Pratt, Asher Millstone, Laurel Castillo and Wes Gibbins. In her personal life, Annalise lives with her husband, Sam Keating, but she also has a secret relationship with Nate Lahey, a local Philadelphia detective. The show features an ensemble cast. The series stars Viola Davis as Professor Annalise Keating. For the first season, nine actors also received star billing: Billy Brown as Detective Nate Lahey, Annalise's lover; Alfred Enoch as Wes Gibbins, a student recently accepted off the waitlist; Jack Falahee as Connor Walsh, a gay law student; Katie Findlay as Rebecca Sutter, Wes' mysterious neighbor who becomes the main suspect in the murder of Lila Stangard; Aja Naomi King as Michaela Pratt, an ambitious student who wants to be successful like Annalise; Matt McGorry as Asher Millstone, one of Annalise's students; Karla Souza as Laurel Castillo, an idealistic student who has a relationship with Frank; Charlie Weber as Frank Delfino, an associate attorney in Annalise's firm; and Liza Weil as Bonnie Winterbottom, an observant associate attorney in Annalise's firm.

I'm really enjoying this show! I knew I'd enjoy it, but I didn't think I would love it as much as I do. Viola Davis is absolutely amazing as Annalise, and just within the first couple of episodes she has had many stunning performance pieces. Along with Annalise, my favorite characters are Wes, Laurel, and Bonnie. I think Laurel might be my actual favorite, and this last episode really showcased her, which was awesome! My only disappointment is with Connor. I really started off liking his character, but he's made some choices that are, for the lack of a better word, disgusting to me. We'll see how the rest of his story goes, and how he develops as a character. Anyway, I definitely recommend this!

I meant to put my thoughts down a week ago, but forgot. Anyway, I love this show. It's starting off really strong. The format of the show is weird, since we're almost caught up with these flash forwards. If the show makes it to a second season, I wonder if they'll keep that going - introduce another future event, and have the main story leading up to that. Or will they dump the flash forwards once they two timelines converge into one. Who knows? Anyway, I share most of Brady's thoughts on the show. Annalise, Laurel and Wes are my favorite characters. I was a big fan of Michaela in the first few episodes, but she seems to have taken a back seat lately. Though I appreciate a canon gay character in the main cast, I'm not a huge fan of Connor, personally. His personality if a little off-putting, which I can deal with, but he does and says some pretty questionable stuff. Asher is just there for me to make fun of, honestly. I don't hate him anymore though. But yes, definitely recommend this show! Viola Davis is killing it, and the writing is pretty good, for the most part.
