I LOVE these character spotlights! Joshua and Emily are such complex characters, and from what you've told me and from what these interviews have to offer, they're going to grow so much from how we saw them, especially Emily, in Audition. I love the fact that Joshua is so open about his sexuality, even if it isn't confirmed what that exactly is, and isn't afraid to jump immediately into sex. I think that's really refreshing, especially in the Audition-verse haha. Hopefully Andrew will accept Joshua as his boyfriend sooner rather than later... But back on Emily, her relationship with Andrew probably has me the most intrigued. I think Andrew is going to be such a stand up and nice guy that everyone that he comes into contact with loves him. And that possible arc with Shawn! Did not expect that. I'm so excited to see what's to come, you have no idea. Oh, and her relationship with Troy is going to be amazing. I can already tell. THURSDAY CAN'T COME SOON ENOUGH!

CHARACTER SPOTLIGHT - SHAWN LEONIDAS
With the series premiere of SCREENWRITERS PARADISE under a week away, producers have decided to release exclusive interviews with the cast of the upcoming dramedy webisode series. Next up is Romeo Miller, who will play the role of "Shawn Leonidas," a former child actor looking to reinvent himself by any means necessary.
VSGUIDE: Hey Romeo! Is there anything you can you tell us about your character?
ROMEO: Shawn's a pretty laid back guy. He keeps to himself mostly; doesn't like letting people in. He's really jaded for someone his age. But he's been acting professionally since he was a kid, so he's seen a lot, and might have been forced to grow up too fast.
VSGUIDE: Sounds like Shawn is a pretty tormented character.
ROMEO: He's definitely got some issues he needs to work on. His anger has always been a problem. I think early on we see some of that, and think he's just being a jerk but as the sequence progresses, we start to see its a real struggle for him. And he starts going through depression and other things being to manifest from that, so yeah, he's not in the best state when we first meet him.
VSGUIDE: When we were introduced to the character on "Audition" he seemed fine. What happens from then to where SP premieres to warrant such a major change?
ROMEO: You said it yourself, he "seemed" fine. But just because someone's able to look okay on the outside, doesn't mean they're okay internally. I think my characters been through so much in his life that he's learned how to bury his emotions, and hide a lot underneath. In the first string of episodes, we'll start to see those feelings bubbling up and then it's all about how he deals with them. Whether he lashes out at people or shuts himself away from the world, it'll be interesting to explore his struggle. And it's so relatable - more than you might think. People really do struggle with these things and it's important to showcase it in a way that not only adds to the drama, since it is a series and that's what we're going for, but it's important to treat it with care and respect because someone in the audience might be going through or have gone through similar struggles.
VSGUIDE: What kind of journey will Shawn's character take? Especially being an actor on a series focused on screenwriters.
ROMEO: For him, it's all about regaining what he feels he's lost. As we learn on "Audition," he'd been written off a show he starred in for years. It's all he's ever known and now that he doesn't have it anymore, he doesn't really know what to do with himself. He finds himself at square one; going to auditions, not being looked at seriously, being typecast, many things actors in real-life go through. His journey in sequence one is about reinventing himself for the world, but always for himself. But it definitely won't be easy for him, which is where the drama starts.
VSGUIDE: What can you tell us about the relationships Shawn establishes on the show?
ROMEO: He does like his privacy, but when he has to interact with someone it's usually Joshua, whether he likes it or not. Their relationship is cool because it's not necessarily what Shawn wants, but it's definitely what he needs. If anything, Joshua provides much needed distraction for him when he's thinking too much. I can say their relationship doesn't start out the healthiest, but over time they learn to tolerate one another. We're working our way up to "friends," I don't think we've gotten there yet though.
VSGUIDE: One of your co-stars hinted at a storyline involving Shawn and Emily. What can you tell us about that?
ROMEO: I can't say much. But it's something that's bred from another plot entirely and it doesn't leave the two on the friendliest of terms. Should be interesting to see how people react to this one.
VSGUIDE: What’s been your favorite episode to shoot thus far?
ROMEO: I'm actually gonna have to say an episode we haven't started yet. It's an episode in arc two and it involves my character and a very, overzealous fan. I was reading the script and it actually gets kind of scary at one point. I'm excited about that.
VSGUIDE: And there you have it! Stay tuned for more cast interviews in the days leading up to the premiere. SCREENWRITERS PARADISE is set to launch this Thursday, July 23rd 2015, only on The VPN!

CHARACTER SPOTLIGHT - TROY PARKER
With the series premiere of SCREENWRITERS PARADISE just a few days away, producers have decided to release exclusive interviews with the cast of the upcoming dramedy webisode series. Next up is Nick Jonas, who will step into the role of "Troy Parker," an eclectic, quick-witted aspiring film director and personal assistant of Emily Moore.
VSGUIDE: Hi Nick! First off, why don't you tell us about the character you play?
NICK: Troy's a really fun character. He's really open and passionate about everything he does. He can be pretty theatrical and flamboyant when he gets excited. When we meet him, he's shown as Emily's personal assistant, but we get to see him more through his relationship with her and his relationship with Joshua, which is really fun as well.
VSGUIDE: Speaking of his relationship with Joshua, what can you tell us about that?
NICK: Well, those two bond almost right away. I would say it's more physical than emotional at first, but after a while they sort of get used to each others company and start to want more from one another. Joshua's not the kind of guy that likes to be tied down, and he's pretty aromantic in general, whereas my character has always wanted someone that he could call his own. He's loves that concept of an 'ideal partner' but he doesn't know if he can find that in Joshua.
VSGUIDE: How is your relationship with your boss? Sharon told us that your character may not be the most conventional employee.
NICK: He's really not. I wouldn't call him rude or disrespectful. He just doesn't let Emily treat him any kind of way. It's a mutual respect they have for one another and really it's all in good fun. It's just the playful relationship they've built. He does know that there are some lines he shouldn't cross and I don't think he ever steps too out of line - at least not intentionally.
VSGUIDE: You said Troy is an aspiring director? Will we delve deeper in that this sequence? Also, how did he end up working as a personal assistant in the first place?
NICK: It will get mentioned, but I think for the first sequence, the writers wanted to really focus on the main four. If we get to do more, I'm sure we'll be able to explore that part of Troy's life more. And for your second question, becoming a personal assistant is temporary for him I think. For someone who wants to direct film and TV, I think he's exactly where he needs to be at this moment in time. He's working for CBS, he's able to gain experience from actual people in the field, and a lot of people can't say that. We will learn a little bit about where he was before he started working for Emily, but like I said, we might have to wait a while before anything bigger gets touched on.
VSGUIDE: What’s been your favorite episode to shoot thus far?
NICK: I think it's a toss up between episodes three and four. They're both pretty much party episodes, but 103 has my first scene with Joshua, which was a lot of fun to do. It's a really flirty, adorable scene between those guys and I really hope the viewers like what we've done. I ship it! [laughs]
VSGUIDE: Are there any characters you'd love for Troy to interact with but haven't so far? Or anyone you'd like Troy to interact with more?
NICK: Hmmm.... I'd really like more stuff between Troy and Shawn. There's one scene between our characters and Joshua in a bar. We wanted to go out - just the two of us, but Shawn ended up tagging along when Joshua didn't realize it was meant to be a "date". He's kinda just the third wheel and it's a bit awkward at first but once he's got a few drinks in him and starts opening up, my character kinda pushes Joshua to the side to chat with Shawn. It's a really funny scene and I'd just love to see more from those two.
VSGUIDE: Thanks Nick! And there you have it! Stay tuned for more cast interviews in the days leading up to the premiere. SCREENWRITERS PARADISE is set to launch this Thursday, July 23rd 2015, only on The VPN!

CHARACTER SPOTLIGHT - FREYA MALEK
With the series premiere of SCREENWRITERS PARADISE under a week away, producers have decided to release exclusive interviews with the cast of the upcoming dramedy webisode series. Next up is Freida Pinto, who will portrayed "Freya Malek," a young woman trying to navigate her way through Los Angeles while furthering her modelling career.
VSGUIDE: Hey Freida! I think you're character has been the most illusive so far. Is there anything you can tell us about 'Freya' without giving too much away?
FREIDA: I can tell you she's a very optimistic person. When things aren't going so well, she holds on to the slightest bit of comfort she can find. Also, she's a complete nerd. Whenever she's out working, she'd rather be home playing Mario Kart or Call of Duty or watching Game of Thrones.
VSGUIDE: She sounds very relatable.
FREIDA: She is. In the series, most people don't find her very approachable. When they look at her, they see the model, the airhead, the beauty queen. All those stereotypes and labels are thrown at her before she's even able to open her mouth. They don't see her as a human being, and I think Freya's journey this season is about showing people who she really is. Finding ways to discover her voice and express herself, which isn't something she's been able to do in her life.
VSGUIDE: How does your character interact with others on the show?
FREIDA: Well, Freya spends a lot of time with Andrew. I've been sworn to secrecy when it comes to those two, but I can tell you they've known each other for a long time. Possibly longer than Andrew and Joshua. I can't really reveal the nature of their dynamic, but it's definitely an interesting one. So look out for it in episode three!
VSGUIDE: What has been your favorite episode to shoot thus far?
FREIDA: I really enjoyed episode four. We get to explore Freya and Andrew's relationship more. And we get to see her at a pretty vulnerable point. I think it'll be interesting and the very different from what the viewers will expect from her character.
VSGUIDE: Are there any characters you'd love for Freya to interact with but haven't so far? Or anyone you'd like Freya to interact with more?
FREIDA: I haven't had the chance to work with Nick, so I'd like to see more stuff between Freya and Troy. We're the two characters who aren't a part of the main four, and our storylines are somewhat reliant on other characters; at least in the beginning. So, it would be nice for the two of us to get together at some point and have a drink or something. Although Freya doesn't drink alcohol so she'd be having a nice soda or something [laughs].
VSGUIDE: And there you have it! Stay tuned for the final interview coming tomorrow with series creator Chris Davis. SCREENWRITERS PARADISE is set to launch this Thursday, July 23rd 2015, only on The VPN!

AAAHHHH!! So many GREAT interviews! I'm so excited for all three of these characters, especially now that we know just a little bit more about Freya. The fact that she's just a huge nerd has me so excited for what stories she's going to go through and the relationships she's going to form with everyone else in the cast. I would love to see her with Troy! They sound like polar opposites, and it sounds like their scenes would be off the wall hilarious. Also, the mystery with her and Andrew is so intriguing. Speaking of Shawn, he sounds like he's going to have the darkest storyline for this sequence, and I'm all here for it. I think a dramedy's main purpose is to balance that blend of drama and comedy and it looks like this show is going to manage that perfectly. I'm already in love with Shawn and Joshua not getting along, and hope that they eventually grow to tolerate each other and have a mutual respect for one another. Troy/Joshua - Parkson? Parkson. They sound so much fun. So many sexy times to look forward to, I'm assuming! But besides that, Troy and Emily's relationship is another thing I'm looking forward to. I think all of these relationships are going to the main highlight of this show, and I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to seeing all of these characters interacting. I'M SO READY FOR THURSDAY!

AAAHHH!! I'm so excited for this show, man. Oh my God. I already love Andrew from what I've been able to see you write of him. He's such a nice contrast to Joshua's craziness, and is all around an awesome, genuine dude. I'm already so obsessed with their relationship even if I've barely even scratched the surface of it. I'm interested to see how he interacts with Emily mostly, especially if they hit it off. They have the potential to play really nice off of one another, and that has me super excited. Episode three sounds absolutely insane - a party with everyone there? Oh my God. It's going to be hilarious, I can already tell. This show is dealing with such a different side of Hollywood, as opposed to Audition, and I'm thrilled for people to see your take on it. Freya is such an intriguing character for me. All we know is she's from Andrew's past, and that's enough for me. I'm so interested in the mystery surrounding her and her relationship with him. Basically, I'm so pumped. I cannot wait until this show premieres, and I cannot wait for people to meet your amazing characters in next week's crossover. Thanks Brady!! Yeah, Andrew's definitely a stand up guy. He's the heart of the show in a lot of ways. And his relationship with Joshua is thing that holds it all together. I don't know what's up with me and male/male friendships. First there was Jake/Pete, then James/Adam and now Joshua/Andrew. And I'm starting to see a pattern here. Three "J" names and 2 "A" names. Gaah! Pretty sure Pete would have had an "A" if he hadn't been an established character. And that possible arc with Shawn! Did not expect that. I'm so excited to see what's to come, you have no idea. Oh, and her relationship with Troy is going to be amazing. I can already tell. THURSDAY CAN'T COME SOON ENOUGH! Glad you're liking Joshua and Emily so far! Joshua's sexuality will definitely come up but it won't be the focus of his character. I wanted to have it as an important aspect of his identity without it overshadowing all of the other qualities that make him "him." As for Emily, I'm really excited about her. She's definitely got a big personality, like Joshua. The arc between her and Shawn will be one of the darker arcs this sequence, but it should do well in telling us more about both characters. AAAHHHH!! So many GREAT interviews! I'm so excited for all three of these characters, especially now that we know just a little bit more about Freya. The fact that she's just a huge nerd has me so excited for what stories she's going to go through and the relationships she's going to form with everyone else in the cast. I think all of these relationships are going to the main highlight of this show, and I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to seeing all of these characters interacting. I'M SO READY FOR THURSDAY! I'm actually just now thinking about Freya and Troy. I might have to put them in a scene together now. HAHA! Shawn definitely has a rough time this sequence. His arc will bring the dark side of Hollywood to the show and it won't be fun for him. But this being half drama and half comedy, they'll always be something going on to balance it all out. That's actually something I've been really hoping to get right, because I see you do it so well with Audition. Hopefully I can mimic your magic Parkson! I'm loving this ship names. They're definitely a highlight for me, though I know all the relationships these characters will build over the course of the sequence. I'm really looking forward to exploring those two. Should be a lot of fun Thanks for your feedback, Brady! It's been soo awesome reading your thoughts and your support through all of this has been one of the biggest things that's kept me going writing this show! Hope you enjoy the series!

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW - CHRIS DAVIS
With the series premiere of SCREENWRITERS PARADISE coming tomorrow, we wanted to bring you one final interview before the series' launch! We were able to sit down with series creator and executive producer, Chris Davis, to give us even more insight into the upcoming drama/comedy webisode series!
VSGUIDE: When coming up with the idea for SP, did you find any inspiration in other stories?
CHRIS: I did, actually. A lot of inspiration came from "Entourage." Just the idea of a group of friends going through life in a city like Los Angeles. But also focusing on the industry and the different sides of it. Also, I was inspired by my own time in L.A. It's such a fast and lively city and the atmosphere is unlike anywhere else I've been. I really wanted to take my experiences there and hopefully be able to put it into the writing so that the city itself feels alive, almost like a character on its own.
VSGUIDE: I heard that this was actually your first comedy project. Were there any reservations about stepping into this genre?
CHRIS: There were, and there still are, if I'm being honest. Even with the shows I watch and enjoy, there are few comedy series that peak my interest. It's definitely way outside my comfort zone, and I think that's what drew me to this project. I wanted to try something new. It's better, for me, that this isn't a straight comedy series. The drama element does come into play quite often and I would go as far as to say this is more of a drama series with clear, comedic elements.
VSGUIDE: So there will be a nice balance of drama and comedy?
CHRIS: Well, I hope so. [laughs] This series will touch on some pretty grim topics and I never want to make light of the situations my characters are put in, but I do keep in mind that while one character is having the worse day of their life, someone else could be having a blast. So that's where I hope the balance will come in. Hopefully it works for everyone.
VSGUIDE: With an aspiring screenwriter writing a series on aspiring screenwriters, how much, if any, did you take from your personal life and put into the show?
CHRIS: A lot, but at the same time, not that much at all. There are things in the show that either I've gone through, have heard stories about and of course things I just made up. But where my personal life translates over into the series most is the relationships between these characters and the real bond and camaraderie they feel with one another. I spent a couple years living with people who wanted to pursue film and television and it was just nice being around people who were going through the same thing I was. People who shared similar interests and could really understand what it's like for us.
VSGUIDE: Who has been your favorite character to write for?
CHRIS: Oh no! Don't make me answer that question! [laughs] I don't think I can choose a specific character, but I'll tell you that scenes between Andrew and Joshua have been the easiest for me to write. I think there's something really cool about their friendship and how loving it is. I joked around about those two practically being a married couple without the sex. But in all honesty, that's the best way to describe them. I love it.
VSGUIDE: Would you ever consider those two possibly becoming more than friends?
CHRIS: Oh yeah. The thought has crossed my mind. Right now, as far as Andrew knows, he's heterosexual, but I see him as kind of biromantic, which is something I definitely look forward to exploring. I've always been a subscriber to the idea that sexuality is fluid and you don't have to be locked into one your entire life. People change as they experience new things and that's an idea I'd love to talk about in this show.
VSGUIDE: Do you have an episode in particular that you're looking forward to seeing people's reactions to?
CHRIS: Something is revealed in episode three. It's the first big reveal and look into one of the characters backstories, and I'm really excited about it. Then there's a certain actor we've got coming in to play their self, which is something "Entourage" did from time to time, but instead of it being a cameo, we're gonna bring them in for multiple episodes and have them be a central piece of the story. It should be a lot of fun and hopefully everyone is able to enjoy it.
VSGUIDE: With sequence one starting up in just a day, is there anything else you'd like to say before SP is available for the masses?
CHRIS: Just that I hope you all enjoy the show. It's a story I've been wanting to tell for quite some time and the fact that it's finally getting off the ground is amazing. Such a good feeling. So yeah, hope you all like what we've created!
VSGUIDE: And there you have it! Catch the series premiere of SCREENWRITER PARADISE, tomorrow, Thursday July 23rd, only on The VPN!
