Jack Malone, I was struggling to choose a picture to show Peter/Tony - given the M.E. angle, I was considering a promotional image from " Nurse Jackie", but then I saw this one, and I KNEW that was the one Originally, the character has a slightly different surname, but as I was typing up the article, I realised I wasn't happy with the surname, and given his storyline, the more exotic-sounding and European-themed 'Petrelli' fitted perfectly, even if it's not exactly original

CASTING NEWS: Ralph Dibny Staying For A Stretch, Fred Weller Promoted To Main Cast!
VSGuide can confirm that season one guest star Fred Weller (" In Plain Sight". " Stonewall") has signed on as a series regular for the upcoming second season, currently in intense pre-production, as Lieutenant Ralph Dibny, a reinterpretation of the DC Comics superhero 'Elongated Man'! Weller first appeared as Lt. Dibny, a seasoned investigator with the Internal Affairs division of the Metropolis P.D. in Episode 1x04: " Trust", before returning to the show for the final two episodes of the season. " We were very excited that an actor of Fred's caliber signed up for the show in the first place, so we're ecstatic now he'll be joining the family on a more permanent basis," series creator Alex Matthews told us after the news first broke. " We approached him with the idea during the filming of episode 11, explaining we felt there was a place for him in the upcoming seasons plans, and that we really wanted a chance to explore him and his character in more depth." Weller himself is excited for the opportunity to continue the character's story, "I originally signed on for a one-episode guest spot but on the provisio that they may call me back up to reprise the role again during the season. After the way my first episode ended, and the fun we had shooting it, I was more then happy to come back and continue, and the way I was brought back for episodes 11 and 12 felt really organic and real, since it showed that other cases besides those of the S.C.U. are still going on around them." ON becoming a series regular, Weller told VSGuide, " I've studied up on some of the characters comic books storylines, and I'm really looking forward to seeing if and how they get incorporated into the future seasons of the show. As for this season, I'm definitely excited about seeing how Dibny will work with these characters on a daily basis, and how it changes or enhances their dynamic." Matthews hinted at some of the plans they have in store for Weller and Dibny: " Given that 5 of our main characters are based on super-powered heroes, I don't know if we'll explore that route with ALL of them, but if the story called for it, I wouldn't be opposed to seeing Dibny developing powers akin to his comic book counterpart some day. But we do plan on showing more of his famous detective skills, and a certain brunette socialite he's well known to be connected to will definitely be appearing during the run of the season." What are your thoughts on Fred Weller joining the main cast? What storylines do you think he'll get? What do you think he'll bring to the Special Cimes Unit? Sound off below!!

[/div][/div][/quote] As long as countdown and identity crisis don't come anywhere near SCU then I will be happy.haha. If you didn't realize I disliked those storylines DC came up with. I'm all for status quo shaking but what they did......don't even get me started But all in all I'm happy he is a series regular and I can't wait to see what happens. I was happy that you kept him on.

I'm glad you like the character, Karl, and I look forward to you reviewing the last two episodes of the first season at some point, since he's involved in both The S.C.U. is going to go through some major restructuring in the first few episodes of the second season, and Dibny is going to play a major part in that, and in the Unit as a whole. I'm really looking forward to seeing how his presence will change up and affect the group as we've gotten used to it.

CONFIRMED: Meghan Ory Cast In Season Premiere!
It has been exclusively confirmed to VSGuide from the production offices of " Metropolis: Special Crimes Unit" that the former " Intelligence" star, who has returned to her old stomping grounds of Storybrooke in " Once Upon A Time", has joined the cast of the action/adventure police format show for it's sophomore season. Details about who she will be playing are still being kept under wraps for the moment, but it has been rumoured she will be appearing in at least one more episode later in the season, and the door will be kept open for further appearances. Matthews teased us with that fact that " She's going to be very involved in keeping one particular member of our main cast safe and out of harm's way, and play an essential part of that character's personal storyline throughout the season, even when she's not around." Any theories about just who Meghan will be portraying? Sound off below!

JUST IN: Anthony Michael Hall returning as Mayor Frank Berkowitz! VSGuide can reveal that the former star of " The Dead Zone", who appeared in two episodes of the first season as the incumbent Mayor of Metropolis, will be reprising his role in multiple episodes throughout the season, keeping his Special Guest Star status. " His storyline is tied directly into Maggie's" explained series creator Alex Matthews, " and will push her outside the office and away from police work altogether, taking her directly out of her comfort zone." As to what that storyline is, Matthews reminded us that the groundwork for it had already been laid out in the previous season's finale. " It's election year in Metropolis, and Berkowitz is facing steep opposition in the form of the very charming and persuasive Edward 'Vinnie' Morgan [played by former " CSI:NY" and " Under The Dome" star Eddie Cahill]. Given Maggie's penchent for straight talk, she's going to become very valuable to his re-election efforts." What do you think to the return of Mayor Berkowitz? Excited to see the politics of 'The Big Apricot' explored in more detail? Let us know your thoughts below!

Is there any new storylines that you are excited to be writing about this season? SO MANY!!
One of the little bits that came out of introducing Ten Clouds into the mix of the first season was seeing how his character interacted with Danny and Wally, so I'm really looking forward to seeing how easily (or not!) Pat fits into the dynamic - she'll be a brand new element, whereas they already have an idea of working with Ralph. This year, while every episode will still revolve around a case, I'm going to focus a lot more on the personal lives of the characters, so Toby and Damon will be reappearing a lot in the lives of Maggie and Todd. We'll meet the families of both Beth and Kitty, and see Ralph have a social life. Wally's home dynamic will be explored, and if you like the subtle bromance he had with Danny, then you'll love what I plan for those two! And although she might be the newest addition, Pat's family life will also be explored when possible. Aside from that, oh, if I could go into details, I would, but that would give the game away COMPLETELY!!

The bromance between him and David is my favorite. I look forward to more. Also with Todd added to the main cast, what new challenges await him this season?

EXCLUSIVE: Chris Lowell talks 'Todd Rice' and Season Two! Chris Lowell ("Veronica Mars", "Enlisted", "Private Practice") took the time to come and chat with us at VSGuide about his promotion to the main cast for the sophmore season of the action/adventure show "Metropolis: Special Crimes Unit" as well as the upcoming season, Todd's growing role and how it fits in with the evolving VPNDCU.
VSGUIDE | Last season ended with Todd in a pretty bad way.
CL | Yeah, I was a little anxious when I read the script, I was wondering if the producers and network had changed their mind about wanting me to carry on next year! But they explained that by the end of the season premiere, Todd will not only be back on his feet, but he'll finally be in a position to get some real answers about who he is and where he comes from.
VSGUIDE | How do you feel about joining the main cast, officially now?
CL | When I landed the role, I was told that although my contract called for me as a recurring character, I was pretty much going to be heavily involved throughout the season, and that if/when a second season came along, they wanted me to continue onwards as part of the main cast. Todd may not be an officer or a graduate of the Police Academy, but he's earned his place in the Unit and has become an integral part of not just the S.C.U., but also Maggie's life as well.
VSGUIDE | Last year we saw Todd develop a love life and also discover some important information about his family. Will those storylines continue?
CHRIS LOWELL | Oh, definitely! Todd's whole 'origin story' is going to be part of his storyline throughout the run of the show, I've been told. I'm really excited to see just how it all plays out in the long run, but for now, he's really trying to deal with the idea that his biological parents were some long ago superheroes, and what that means for him. As for Todd and Damon, their relationship will really get tested this year, because they're still getting to know each other, they're very early stages, but this secret helps bind them together.
VSGUIDE | What kind of 'tests' will they go through?
CL | Well, I don't want to spoil it completely, but I can admit that someone from Todd's past will resurface in Metropolis, and since he knows Todd a hell of a lot better then Damon does, it causes some degree of tension between them. Todd is so surprised and happy to see this old friend and lover back in his life, that he doesn't realize how insecure it makes Damon, and will cause some interesting results.
VSGUIDE | We've seen in other superhero genre shows, like "The Flash" and "Smallville" that we can meet characters who are destined to become heroes before and after they are endowed with powers, and the changes it can cause. How do you feel about Todd eventually becoming 'Obsidian', his hero alter-ego?
CL | Honestly? For the moment, I'm more excited about exploring Todd as a person and his journey that way. I did some preliminary research on the comic book character, and frankly, Todd has been pretty messed up throughout the years, only finding stability very late into his publication history, as he dealt with his sexuality, his past, and his mental issues. I feel my version is much more stable and at peace with himself, so if he ever does become 'Obsidian', that difference will affect how and why he uses his powers.
VSGUIDE | What about Todd's work with the Isis Foundation? Will that come up again?
CL | I'm not sure that it will feature that much, but it's definitely something I'd like to see continue, especially since working for the Foundation helps keep Todd grounded, in a way - it's his way of giving back, as it were. He knows he was lucky to land in a happy adoptive family, with loving parents who accepted his sexuality and continued to love and support him. Whatever lead him to work for the Foundation, I'd love to eventually explore that somehow, and see how it links into his backstory outside the S.C.U.
Many thanks for Chris for taking the time to talk to us here at VSGuide! Are you looking forward to Todd's backstory being explored more, or that his past love life will rear it's head in his present? Let us know below!

Meet Wally's Women!
VSGuide has another exclusive from the set of "Metropolis: Special Crimes Unit" as the final scenes and some reshoots for the stilll-untitled season premiere go ahead, and that concerns the rather awkward and eccentric character of Wally West, lovably portrayed by series star Fran Kranz. SPOILERS AHEAD for the Season One finale "Playtime"!! Last time viewers saw Wally, he was suffering from severe burns to his hands, having been sprayed by acid during the explosion that destroyed the S.C.U. squad room, levelled his ground floor lab, and resulted in the death of close work colleague Russell Ten Clouds. " Wally is going to have some new responsibilities when the show picks up the pieces of the season finale," Kranz revealed during our quick talk with him, " he's not going to be going out into the field much at first, he'll be stuck in the lab like he was before, but this time, he finds it's not the same as it was." And just why is this? " We felt that Wally had been pushed out of his comfort zone in the first season," explained series creator and head writer Alex Matthews, "I mean, he was finally comfortable going out and working the scenes now, he'd overcome that barrier. So it was decided that circumstances would force him back into the lab, but everything's changed now. Our first episode back doesn't really touch on it, but the second episode will dive right into just why things have changed, and it's a BIG step up for Wally in terms of responsibility, as you'll see. These new characters, and one character from the previous season returning for several more episodes, will really help Wally start accepting it's time to grow up, just a little." The character returning will be 'Dr. Tina McGee', once again played by Tina Majorino. McGee, a chemist from LexCorp, is also currently Wally's girlfriend, the two having met during a group counselling session for victims of crime. " We didn't get a chance to really explore their relationship in the first season, and it's something I was adamant a second season would do," said Matthews. " Aside from a few quips by Maggie about it, there wasn't time to force any scenes, and Tina is a very busy woman, so we're thankful to score her back for Season 2." The first of the new characters being brought in to expand Wally's arc is an original character called 'Juanita Mendoza', portrayed by " Jane the Virgin" star Gina Rodriquez, who will be helping the S.C.U. out in the field as a crime scene investigator. " She's still very new to her role with the Unit, but her skills are beyond compare, that's why she was recruited," said Matthews on this new character. " She's young, passionate, and dedicated, wanting to show the other characters she can get the job done, without threatening Wally's place in the team." The final new addition is Jessica Alba of " Dark Angel" and the 2005-2007 " Fantastic Four" films. She will be playing a physical therapist that Wally is forced to see after the burns to his hands leave him less capable of the usual taks his job entails. " Originally, burning Wally's hands was just to make him that little bit helpless during the Metro Central bombing," confesses Matthews, " but as we were breaking down the ideas and arcs for characters this season, we realized that with where we wanted Wally to be, he'd need a damn good reason to be pushed back into the office, hence the idea came that his hands were burned a loss worse then originally believed, and that he needs therapy to get them back to full stength." The name of the character has not been revealed yet, but Matthews teased us that she is based on a minor comic book character, but that her comic book origins (and previous adaptions) might not necessarily be followed through in this adaption. VSGuide is also aware of construction of several completely new sets for the S.C.U. to operate from (based on concept designs by Darrin McCann), as well as a brand new location for the exterior shots, and it leaves us at VSGuide wondering just how much change is going on... and is it for the better of the department? Stay tuned for more spoilers, and reveals about the second season, and don't forget to tell us your thoughts/opinions on these new characters, and the return of Dr. Tina!

EXCLUSIVE - "Warehouse 13" and "NCIS: New Orleans" star CCH Pounder Cast in Major Guest Role! The esteemed actress behind such characters as Mrs. Irene Frederic, Dr. Loretta Wade and so many other memorable personas is coming to Metropolis! The actress, well known to comic book fans as the first person to ever portray Amanda Waller, albeit in animated form on " Justice League Unlimited" and then continuning the role in various DC animated films, will be portraying the comic book character of' ' Dr. Claire Foster'. In the comics, Dr Foster acted in her official capacity as a psychiatrist for the likes of Superman, Martian Manhunter and Starfire of the Teen Titans, offering counsel for the heroes at various times in the lives. In the " M:SCU" joined universe, she will be offering those same services as a police-approved psychiatrist to members of the Special Crimes Unit, most specifially Danny Turpin and Wally West, who are still dealing with the fallout of the previous season finale and the season two premiere. " I've always been intrigued that there was this normal human woman who found herself not just as a confident to Superman, but so many other heroes," explained showrunner Alex Matthews to our sources at VSGuide, " The stories she could tell! It made sense, given how damaged and upset Danny is over loosing Ten Clouds, that he might end up being forced to see someone. It really helps play into our focus on personal storylines this season." New cast member Katee Sackhoff (and her character of Pat Trayce) will also be spending some time in the doctor's couch, it seems. " She puts on a lot of bravado, but Pat is hiding a lot of pain herself, and when her secrets come out, it will help forge a connection between her and Danny that will help them work together." Now, eagle-eyes and elephant-memoried " Smallville" viewers might remember that back in Season 3, Lex Luthor himself was a patient of a Dr. Claire Foster, portrayed by Lorena Gale, who was paid by Lionel to push Lex towards a psychotic break and eventually undergo electro-shock, before ultimatly meeting her end before she could change her mind. " One of the main things I wanted to do with "M:SCU" was use it to redeem comic book characters who I felt got short-changed by their time in "Smallville", if I could. Claire Foster was always one of those who came to mind," defended Matthews. " I mean, we've already had two 'Cat Grants', so I don't see the problem in having two 'Claire Fosters', really."

EXCLUSIVE - "Vampire Diaries" star Jodi-Lynn O'Keefe Cast as DC Comics' Sue Dibny
VSGuide just got the exclusive news that Jodi-Lynn O'Keefe ( Vampire Diaries, Charmed) has just finished filming her first scenes on the season premiere of 'Metropolis: Special Crimes Unit", and that she will be expected to recur throughout the season, as a love interest for new cast member Fred Weller's character, Lieutenant Ralph Dibny. O'Keefe will be portraying the role of Susan Dearbon, a member of Metropolis' social elite and a former debutante who, when we first meet her, is working as a hospital administrator for Metropolis General. Her job brings her into the world of the S.C.U. when Dibny is assigned to keep an eye on Oswald Loomis (portrayed by David Tennant), who is recovering from an attempt on this life by Intergang, and is believed to be under threat curing the chaos striking the city with the threat of the Toyman robot-bombs. " I'm very excited to be bringing this character to life," O'Keefe told us when we caught up with her as she finished her first scenes, " I read the script and after being told the plans for the character, I was really happy to be part of this project. She's very grounded and realistic, and wants to give back, despite having grown up in a more protected and isolated environment as on the '1%'. But what happens to her in this first episode is very eye opening for her, and it dictates her journey for the rest of the season." Sue Dearbon is based on the DC Comics character of 'Sue Dibny', wife of the Elongated Man, a.k.a. Ralph Dibny, and despite being a regular human, was considered an honorary member of the Justice League, and worked as it's administrator for a time. Sue and Ralph's strong and long-lasting relationship was for a long time considered the model to which other relationships in the comic-book world desired to emulate. " With the decision to make Ralph a main character," series creator Alex Matthews explained, " it only made sense to bring in Sue, but I wanted to explore the beginnings of their relationship and updating it for the 21st century. I'm looking forward to seeing more scenes of the two of them being filmed." Asked about the casting itself, Matthews replied, " It's was her eyes that sold her to me on the part. She originally came in to audition for a completely different role, but when we were discussing the character of Sue, I remembered just how stricking her blue eyes were, so we called her back for a screen test with Fred, and thankfully, the magic was there."

But I do love that you are putting her in the show Congrats on S2 as well!!!
