I remember seeing this around, and always thought it was an interesting concept idea - supernatural teen school crime drama, reminds me a bit of Veronica Mars but with a Supernatural twist to it.
Finished reading the Pilot Episode, and enjoyed it. Has a good structure to the episode I felt, interesting characters you've developed and leaves a lot of questions unanswered to learn more about in future episodes. Liked the little twist of the Sheriff's Ghost actions at the end, nice touch after what we saw him behave like earlier in the story.
The buddy-connection between Avery and Fish really come off well, and the high-school drama is certainly added into the mix with some good minor characters around them that shine on the pages and come off strong. The tension within the family is certainly felt - while the mystery/spooky side of Avery's dead brother is shocking, yet gives it a more adult-teen feel to the show.
I think with some work, a number of edits to the script - this could be a good series, and definitely one people might enjoy reading about and I think a possible pick-up for series if all comes together, albeit up to the Mod team but it has great potential.
The only things I see wrong with it - which can be sorted, is:
1. Number of V.O. parts. I think is too many, could cut out maybe 95% of those and still make an enjoyable story as a lot is shown in the episode, so don't need him explaining it also.
2. SPAG - quite a bit of Spelling and Grammar need fixing, but this can easily be sorted.
3. SCENE SETTINGS - some of them are missing bits, and jump to other rooms without stating where are now - again, easily be rectified.
I think apart from those few things, and some minor work on it - it's definitely one I'd read and I enjoy. Also, like the Opening Credits video made - looks really good, fits the type of show you have perfectly.

Read and much has already been said about the Pilot so far, with a little tightening in the structure this could be a good Pilot episode for the show - and maybe could stretch to 25-30 pages if done right I believe. I've sent you a PM with an idea to structure it more, not sure if interested - if not that's fine, just an idea.
Love the concept idea, and the mystery behind it all intrigues me. I'd stick with the Lance name, it has that 'Jock' type feel to the name of the character and suits him for me. Looking forward to reading more over time as I believe you had a good concept of a series here.

First off, thanks to both Brady and Chris for the reviews and helpful feedback. Also thanks Doctor Karl for your support, this is a show that's been lurking around for so long and still as passionate about to get up and running.
Regards the issues with the script - which I fully understand and accept. I'll admit, personally I do believe dialogue and distinguishing characters are my biggest flaws, especially when it came to this show. As stated, I think J.J. is the only one I've truly captured out of the group and so easy as he's borderline sociopath so his mind is dirty and disturbing, like virtually everything that comes out of his mouth.
I'm trying to find the voices of the others, albeit struggling a little:
Simon - comes across as caring about Emily, almost protective of her. Has issues with J.J. (who doesn't?), brave yet he's always getting into trouble and being human he can be harmed easily. Emily - still finding her way in the world, and now more so than ever before with the loss she's received. Uncertain of the others, yet will grow to trust them over time with her life. Bela - a mix between a cold, ruthless person when needs to be and a caring 'mother-like' quality who cares for the team, and believes in this mission she's taken on. So much baggage of her past life it's difficult to define what side of the line she is walking on at times. Christine - I see her as still struggling a little with the English language, so may have her throw the odd 'French word' in the mix as she struggles to find the English equivalant. Also, she never shows much flesh (like the other girls) and good reason for it as we'll find out. Anka - a truly difficult one to capture, as she's so old and yet new to the world at the same time. (Chris, she was more a link to 'The Mummy' original films, but I will say I do like what you came up with and might incorperate that into the mix of the Mummy backstory, thanks) Doc - a guy who is to the point, direct who isn't a 'team' player as such. He only cares about 2 things in his life, a young woman who stays with him and to enhance his mind with more knowledge than anyone else, especially of creatures. He often doesn't get some humor or likes being spoken down to like he's beneath people.
I think the non-American dialogue by Emily may be an issue that could be checked along the way by an editor, as being British I'm probably more used to british sayings than American, although do watch a lot of American shows lol.
The opening Pilot episode was really used as a focus to bring Emily into the team (Bela is the real star), so the focus throughout is more on Emily and her story than anything - which is probably why we don't see a lot in what the others can do. We will get to see more of them, and what can do over the season as several episodes delve into the backstory of the characters. I have tried to reveal small snippets in the pilot of what some curses are.
I think the Wolf transformation was one of my favourties also, as I wanted to try and show the anguish and excrutiating pain that Emily goes through when she changes. As we see this sweet, innocent small girl that basically becomes a large beast and felt that it has to be torturous everytime to go through that.
I'm currently going through the Pilot episode again, trying to clean it up - remove excess descriptions, added a small flashback of Emily's mother when she talks about her to Simon in diner, cut down a bit of dialogue where isn't needed etc.

Okay, I've just had a read over the Pilot script - and these comments are only coming from someone who has very limited scripts being approved, so in a way I'm still learning as I'm going on and come from tips I've learned over the years.
I will say I do think it needs quite a bit of 'polishing up' I think would be the term. A number of SPAG issues, and some other things like the Camera Shots used, some parts need wording better to understand what is being shown more clearly etc as I had to re-read a few lines to understand what I just read. I don't think you need CUT TO after every scene either, use sparsely and only if helps moves to another scene that needs it. That's the things that I found while reading it which caused issues I felt - but can easily be sorted.
On the much more positive side, I will say you do have something here. The basis of the story I like, and it moves along at a nice pace to follow what is happening and helps introduce the characters and the setting of the series. I do believe with some polishing of the episode, this could be a good series to read.

Thanks Brady Also, judt editied the original post and added a (rough) episode guide to season 1, which would be split into two halves. Episodes may change, but is an idea of what's to come.

Okay, downloaded the Pilot and I'm gonna give it a read over next couple of days and let you know what I think. Sounds like my type of story - supernatural, mystery and drama mixed together with a good casting you have got there. Should be fun By the way, love the graphic and the opening credits are fantastic. Great job on those.

I've always found this to be a very interesting idea. I have a special love for classic gothic literature, as well as some of the classic Universal films, and seeing a spin on some of those creatures really intrigues me. I don't necessarily remember if the "Dreamland Institute" was a part of the original concept, but I like it. I'll defintiely try to give the pilot a read sooner rather than later! Just a little thing: you call her "Emily Johnson" in the descriptions but "Emily Talbot" in her cast image. Thanks Brady I've always loved the classic Universal Monster Legacy films, as well as the british Hammer Films and that's what always inspired me with the idea behind this a few years back now and just developed various directions over the years. But behind it is the basic principle of: "Descendants of the Creatures unite to protect Humanity from other Creatures considered a danger to the world!"The Dreamland Institute isn't part of the original concept - but I felt the group always needed a base where they worked from, and this seemed perfect. In real life it is better known as 'Area 51' a secret base the Government owns which is where 'alleged' aliens are kept and technology - I just felt this would be a perfect setting/base for the group with the question of "What if it isn't Aliens kept there, but dangerous Creatures and Supernatural entities captured?" It's a possibility for a episode down the line of how did it become to be known as this, who founded it etc - as there are hints over the first 3 episodes that Bela didn't create it, but just runs it as of late. She starts of as being known as 'Emily Johnson' as that's who she believes she is, but in the final scene of Episode 2 - we discover she is actually a descendant of Talbot's legacy, and in Episode 3, Bela tells Emily about the period in which she met her Uncle - Lawrence Talbot (aka: Original Wolfman). I hope you enjoy it when you read. It's gone through various stages and drafts over the past few years and in different directions of settings, but always returns back to this storyline. Thanks Chris, hope you enjoy it to. I've got 3 episodes wrote so far and ideas for the others in the first season.

They are monsters.... created by the past.... to protect humanity.THE PREMISE:Every Government have their secret organizations. Most are there to enforce control over it's people, but there is one that is there to enforce control over those that aren't exactly.... human. It is called the 'Dreamland Institute', ran by Bela Harker - a beautiful, yet deadly woman who has a killer instinct and a record of suvival unlike any other - having lived for more than a century, being a Vampire - but not just any Vampire, a unique kind unlike anything ever seen before.
Working alongside her are a special team of individuals who combine dangerous inner demons that have found them on this path - from Anka, a young woman who possesses the power to self heal and made of something from the world she left behind. Christine Daee - a French woman who was a former acrobat for a circus, who has tried to bury the past crimes she committed. J.J. Griffiths - a darkened young soul who has the ability to find himself fading from view upon call, and a warped mind of his obsession towards women. Dr Franklyn N. Stein, a genius in the field of several Doctorates who is dedicated to understanding the mind as well as the body of those creatures they come across.
When a young, pretty girl named Emily Johnson comes onto their radar - several of the team find themselves conflicted between helping her or using her to discover something much more darker, dangerous that is lurking out there and intent on using her to get what it wants. A deadly game in which personal feelings and trust can be shattered in an instant - and the past that each hides is never too far behind. THE CAST:Bela Harker is a mystery to some, a danger to others. She is the leader of the Project known as the 'Dreamland Institute', based in the Nevada Desert (Area 51). Her own past, which is shrouded in darkness, murder and redemption makes her the perfect candidate to be in charge. Having sought out several others in the same way as herself - seeking atonement for their sins, she leads them into battle against other creatures, demons and supernatural entities which bring chaos against humanity in the world. She can be considered cold, deadly at times - but has a warmer side to her that is occasionally seen by few.
Born in 1898 to the couple Jonathan and Mina Harker, her future was written before she was born after Mina was attacked and possessed by the most dangerous Demon known to mankind - Count Dracula, raised by the Devil himself. Bela found herself with a thirst for blood, leading her down a dark and lonely road, bringing pain and sacrifice to her own family and death to those she met on her travels. Now she is seeking redemption in a hope that one day her own parents would forgive her for the crimes against them... while trying her best to keep dormant the darkness that still lingers within her very soul and wanting to break free at any given moment.Emily is an twenty year old girl, who finds herself dragged into the world by Bela and the team when she learns that she is much more than a pretty face, but a deadly inner beast that is unleashed every full moon. Caught between her caring nature and the search for the truth - she finds herself trying to find her way in dealing with the savaged animal she has become and finding a new family in those around her of the team. Also starring:Simon Harker, is a distant relation to Bela. He is a young, intelligent man who has an affection towards Emily after keeping eye on her from the very start of her journey. He often finds himself on the bitter end of J.J.'s comments - but is able to hold his own in a fight, but his human side of him is difficult to protect as much as Bela tries her hardest to keep him out of harms way.John James Griffiths, aka J.J., is a dark, moody and disturbing character from Newcastle, England. His whole demeanor stinks of trouble. He has been arrested more times than he can count, and a history of issues with women in general. A young man with few friends, and a love of a good fight - if it's in his favour, and a willingness to wind others up for his own amusement. His curse borders him between just a disturbed individual, and a full blown Sociopath.Christine Daee, a French born young woman hides pain, heartache and secrets of her past she ran away from. A former acrobat working in the circus in Paris many years ago, she is agile, fast and able to use her abilities in her role she finds herself in. Not more than a year ago, she was the saviour of Paris as a masked vigilante that protected the innocent known only as ... 'The Phantom'.Anka has the appearance of youth - although she is older than even Bela herself, but also has the hidden quality of age and wisdom. She occasionally helps out at museums, thanks to her incredible knowldge of ancient Egypt which seems unmatched by anyone in the world. She will put herself where the danger lies, in order to protect those close to her at risk of her own harm. It is yet to be known how, or if she can be seriously hurt without her own body regenerating itself to heal her from within. Also co-starring:Doctor Franklyn N. Stein, or Doc as he is commonly referred to by other members has the appearance of a geek, and lives up to that reputation with an intelligence and genius in various fields of science. His passion and dedication for knowledge, especially in the fields of science, psychology and other medical research surpasses even those older than himself.Emelia, is a young woman and companion of Frederick's. She never seems to speak, wether she can or can't is unknown. She is young, pretty and seems to have a fascination with water and succumbs to the world below the surface of beautiful creatures that stem back to prehistoric times. I've been gone for a few months, personal reasons - so I'd be currently working on this while also working on another show pitched elsewhere.

2013: A flashing beam of light, in a darkened alleyway returns Ashley Magnus back to America - having faced a hellword for the past 5 years since she teleported. As she looks to learn of her past, and look to the future - Ashley finds herself accompanied by a young girl who attaches herself to her side, hoping to teach her the importance of humanity once more after Ashley saves her life - by helping others in need using her amazing skillset of Vampiric & Abnormal traits she now is conceived with.
It's going to be a long journey to seek redemption for her past actions - but she hopes that one day she will remember who she is ....CAST:Ashley Magnus(played by Emilie Ullerup) Ashley was born an Abnormal - with the ability to teleport near-infinite distances across the world, a power she inherited from her father, but her ability was blocked until the Cabal injected her with the virulent vampire blood combined with drugs to bring out these and her latent vampiric traits. She is strong, fast, tough as nails and a skilled fighter. While her memory is mostly gone, she occasionally has fragments appear to her of her past. Angelina Thomas(Played by Maddie Hasson) Angelina is a young girl who becomes attached to Ashley after her life is saved by her while living on the streets, and virtually becomes Ashley's Guardian 'Angel' - promising to watch over her, protect her and guide her towards knowing not only her past, but teaching her about humanity along the way in hope of her using her abilities to help those in need. Detective Jake Andrews(Played by Clive Standen) Detective Andrews stumbles upon Ashley while investigating a homicide case, and while grows an affection towards her - finds himself wanting to learn more of her past. At times, Ashley finds herself helping him on his cases - using her abilities to solve crimes without him discovering the truth about herself. EPISODE GUIDE:1.01: FragmentsIn a darkened alleyway, a flash of light brings Ashley Magnus back to civilization from a Hellworld she has been trapped in for almost 5 years of her life. With her memory gone, she tries to find clues to her past and who she is - only to find herself helping a young girl (Angelina) who promises thereafter to watch over her, guide her and protect her from causing harm to others. Investigating the crime, and trying to avoid Detective Andrews personal interest in Ashley - they discover that their is an Abnormal with a similar thirst for blood that must be stopped. 1.03: JumperWhen a jumper is alleged to have been a suicide, Detective Andrews believes otherwise and asks Ashley to help him prove it. As she looks into the matter, she finds a mysterious abnormal creature responsible and must find a way to stop it before it takes more lives. 1.04: Sinderella StoryWhen the body of a rich socialite is found murdered, Andrews and Ashley find themselves uncovering a case of a rich girl who is trying to help others in secret - that could have cost her life in the end. 1.05: ChainedWhen Ashley goes missing one night, Angelina finds herself with no other choice but to seek Det. Andrews help in tracking her down. Ashley finds herself trapped in an undergound run fighting ring, where Abnormals are put to the test against each other - to the death. NOTES:Okay, I'm not sure if allowed - hopefully is as only one I could come up with, such a hard thing when I got down to trying to think of something to do for this pitch idea. Although I wouldn't say Ashley was my least favourite character in Sanctuary series, it was more the disappointment in her being killed off after 1 season that annoyed me more - as she had so much potential to develop her character further. This pitch is a little rushed, so probably not upto my usual standards - but hope enjoy anyway

Love it. I remember the old pitch you did, although didn't get a chance to read the original pilot script but I was intrigued by this concept of a series. Hope you make something of this as sounds like my type of show.
Oh, and don't know the group or song but just listened to it and a great pick for a theme song. Suits the idea of the show.

Congrats Alex again, and well deserved I thought as some stiff competition up against but that twist of your concept was what just pipped it ahead in my eyes (someone normal whose considered special amongst everyone else who is super-human). Anyway, love the idea for March's MOTM. A twist again on the usual pitches we have had, with the least likely character of a show getting a spin-off series. I'll have to have a look and see which shows I watched in past and which characters I wasn't too happy with and see if can come up with something to enter this one

Damn this is so tough, as some great ideas thrown out here in the mix. I've gone through several final choices, back and forth over the past hour or more. But, I need to pick someone and I'm gonna go with.... Alex Matthews for 'Random Factors'. I know others might have chosen differently, but just something about this idea kept stabbing at me (I think it's the idea that 'normal' is still special amongst a world of super-human people) - plus, Michelle Ryan... yumm. I do hope we may see the others still being explored in some form, as several of them are great ideas that would make a fantastic series and the pitches themselves were amazing Congrats Alex (hope you're still around), and it's over to you to make an idea for Member of the Month for March when you're ready

Thanks Jason & Brian for your comments, much appreciated This kind of got put on the backburner a little, but may be revived anytime I'd like to write up a pilot of the show at least, and see how it could pan out from that basic idea concept I had (pitches are usually what I'm good at, and scripts I still need some improving on) and take it from there with anyone on board. I do think it has potential of going somewhere with the concept, it's just getting it down in script format I need to do Who knows, stay tuned as you never knowll.

I will say, while they're isn't that much to go on at this time. I do like the concept on this so far, and I applaud your casting.
Damien Moloney is a great choice as a much darker Doctor Who. I was stuck at first with him in the Being Human but he's grown on me a lot and one of my fave's in the show now. As for Emma Watson, another good choice who could add that adventure and youth to the Doctor's adventures.
Hope you write a pilot or something of this as looks very interesting (and love the idea of the first episode)

Wow, little shocked at this but I do hope in some way that once the smoke settles down over whatever happened, (they'll always be issues between directions of people/shows, BUT that is between those involved only), that everyone in the Virtual world can remain as positive and friendly as have been for years no matter which forum you are a member of and which other members you come across on any of the virtual sites.
All the best to EVPtv and their staff, as well as to VPN and let's see everyone move this forward into a positive way for everyone involved. Always sad to see some staff and shows go, but it also leaves doors ajar for opportunities for others to gently step inside and be noticed. There is plenty of talent out there for coverage on all virtual sites so let's try and make this into a positive for everyone, and every forum/site that is available to us all.

"Forget everything we ever knew, or believed in..."Professor Thomas Lake is a teacher at a University, whose personal belief is that the Holy Bible is a ficticious lie, to hide the truth about our own past and history of where humanity came from. For decades, he has searched for some form of evidence to prove what he preaches, which has lead him into conflict with his colleagues, students and even the Dean of the University on many occasions. When he's contacted by his ex-wife, Mia, who he hasn't heard from in over a decade since they parted ways. It leads the two on a journey into the deepest jungles of Africa, and reports from a man regarding notes and carvings on the interior of a volcanic mountain that has laid dormant for a long time. It sends the Professor on a journey to uncover the truth, and look for an item codenamed 'The Scripture' that is said contains the true history and knowledge of humanity's birth. As he sets off to Africa, along with his trusted colleague (Lei), a student (Tessa Murphy) who seems infatuated with Lake and taken along to record the adventure, and supported by his ex-wife (Mia) and an ex-sas soldier for protection (Bruiser). The group encounter Armando Nesta, a man whose personal intentions are only defined by the wealth he can receive from helping them, who leads them into the jungle and within the confines of the tallest dormant volcanic mountain, Kilimanjaro. Where inside, Lake and the team discover the secrets that has been hidden from the world for millions of years. The 'Scripture', which holds the knowledge of past and can finally provide evidence to Lake's beliefs. But, the greed of what is discovered grows too much for Nesta who steals the Scripture and leaves the others for dead, buried alive within the mountain. The group soon realise they must escape, and return the scripture to it's rightful place as Mia soon uncovers not only the reason why the scripture was buried there, but the removal of it unleashes a dangerous enemy of alien existence, dormant since the birth of humanity and more powerful than Heaven & Hell that is set to be unleashed and could be the catalyst of the world's population becoming extinct on our own planet that hasn't been witnessed for the past 65 million years.... when dinosaurs became extinct from our world. ============================================================= Starring:Professor Thomas Lake (Portrayed by Liam Neeson)The Professor has been hindered in his search for the truth, and the 'Scripture' for decades with little luck. A man who is driven by his own personal beliefs that there is more to humanity's beginnings than we are lead to believe. Unfortunately, his search for the truth could result in the downfall of humanity altogether. Mia (Portrayed by Rachel Weisz)Mia is an expert on ancient languages, and the ex-wife of the Professor who got divorced from him over ten years prior due to his drive to find the truth that pulled them apart. Her feelings for him have never faded though, and she finds herself soon believing everyone of his crazy ideas, but conflicted with the actions of what they have done that could change humanity's future. Bruiser (Portrayed by Vinnie Jones)Bruiser is an ex-sas military man, who has seen death and war and lived to tell the tale. He's as hard as they come, and has a deep passion more than most for violence. He finds himself hired by Mia as the protector of the group while searching for the scripture in Africa. But finds that this could be the toughest test he has ever met, and an enemy unlike anything faced before in which he may not make it back alive. Lei (Portrayed by Daniel Dae Kim)Lei is a colleague to the Professor, and his right hand man who he's trusted more than anyone for the past ten years with everything he has discovered. Armando Nesta (Portrayed by Garret Dillahunt)Armando is the man who discovers the carvings in the mountain, and leads the group through the jungles due to his knowledge of the lands. But he has vested interest in what is being searched for, and thrives on money more than trust which could result in the downfall of mankind. Tessa Murphy (Portrayed by Michelle Trachtenberg)Tessa is a student at the University under Professor Lake, and has a huge crush on him - even though he's more than twice her age. She joins the adventure as an understudy to record everything that is discovered on his behalf and immediately has a dislike to Mia (Lake's Ex) who she sees as getting between her and the Professor, but soon finds herself wishing she was back home in the warmth of her dorm and friends. Notes: This was my entry into January's MOTM, and winner. I believe their is potential here for a movie, and MJ's interest in it also give me the idea to try and make something of it if I can. The film would be considered a thriller/horror, about the search for our past and uncovering things that should be left buried for eternity which could result in our own extinction upon Earth by things we do not yet understand. Think of it as Indiana Jones meets Alien, sort of lol.
