VISITING WITH VINNIE! Eddie Cahill talks Season Two Introduced at the end of the first season, "Edward 'Vinnie' Morgan" is a prominent businessman in Metropolis, as C.E.O. of the up-and-coming Ridge-Ferrick Industries, as well as the next prospective Mayor of the 'City of Tomorrow'. On a personal level, he is also the boyfriend of Dr. Kitty Faulkner (portrayed by series star Felicia Day). VSGuide had the opportunity to sit down and talk to the man behind Vinnie, Eddie Cahill (" CSI:NY", " Conviction") about what the second season has in store for his character and his relationship to the main cast. VSGuide: Your character kind of appeared out of nowhere, but it's clear he's there to make a big impact on the city. Eddie Cahill: Yeah, that's pretty much how it felt when we read through that first episode! I kind of come in running, and it feels like that's how Vinnie rolls. He's got a plan for Metropolis, and he aims to see it through. VSG: How has it been coming into the established universe and the cast?EC: Really great. Everyone is so welcoming, and work together well. I haven't really done much with the main core of cast beyond Felicia, in front of the camera, though. I'm hoping that will change as the show goes forward, but I've read all the episodes that I'm in that have been finished, and I get some interaction with David ( Patkeau, who portrays "Danny Turpin"), Katee ( Sackhoff, who portrays "Pat Trayce") and Tembi (Locke, who portrays "Dr. Beth Chapel") in a couple of different episodes later on. VSG: What can you tell us about the relationship between Kitty and Vinnie?EC: It's one that has caught a lot of people by surprise, but one that seems like it could last the distance. He sees beyond Kitty's neuroses and the hang-ups she's acutely aware of and cares for her as he sees her - a bright, forward-thinking woman of great intelligence who wants to make the world a better place. He brings her out of her shell and lends emotional support to her during some difficult moments in the season. VSG: In Episode 6, we're set to meet Kitty's parents. What's Vinnie's take on that?EC: He's as nervous as anyone would be in that situation. Working with John Shea and Patricia Tallman (who play "Everett and Meredith Faulkner") was a lot of fun, and it really helps Kitty's growth as a person dealing with that kind of situation. Yeah, it's played for laughs at first, but it becomes an emotionally fulfilling experience for all four of them by the end of the episode. VSG: What can you tell us about Vinnie's run for Mayor?EC: He has a vision of what he wants for the city. It's not that it puts him at odds with the current Mayor, but rather that he wants to see it through himself, to inject some new blood and ideas into Metropolis, to keep it on the forefront of science and technology and live up to its nickname. But I'm glad we're spending more time with Vinnie as a person, not as a mayoral candidate, it really fleshes him out as a character for me to sink my teeth into. VSG: Any hints on who's destined to win that race?EC: Ah, that would be telling! You'll have to wait and see for the season finale, but it'll be a nail-biting race, let me tell you! Season Two of " M:SCU" will resume with Episode 5: " Inject" soon! Keep your eyes peeled for an announcement on an air-date in the coming weeks!

OMG! The freaking "Court of Owls"?! I am so looking forward to this coming season! Does this mean someone will be cast as 'Talon'? I'm only vaguely familiar with the Court itself from the comics, and from the animated "Batman vs Robin" film, but still, AHHH!!

Exclusive: Meet Archer's Best Friends! VSGuide has learned exclusively that Griffin Gluck ('Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life') and Kiernan Shipka ('Mad Men') have been cast as Archer Sullivan-Queen's (Jace Norman) best friends. Gluck is set to portray Brady Chambers - an original character made for the show - who is described as a "self-proclaimed geek" equipped with with wit as his weapon and a fierce loyalty to his childhood best friend, Archer. Shipka, on the other hand, is set to play DC Comics' Suzanne "Cissie" King-Jones, a "bright and athletic" student who transferred to Star City High School a year ago but has quickly found her home in this trio of friends. Together, they are jokingly referred to by Chloe (Allison Mack) as the "Alphabe-st Friends" due to the A-B-C chronology of their names. "In figuring out what Archer's world would be and how his life would mirror the legacy of his parents, it felt right to surround him with a similar unit of friends that Chloe had in high school with Pete and Clark and that's what Archer has with Brady and Cissie," series creator Jack Malone explained on the decision to bring these characters into the story. When we meet them, Brady has been the gatekeeper of one of Archer's big secrets and urges him to finally let Cissie in on it when a situation truly forces them to seek help. "There's a big catalyst in the [season premiere] and it doesn't just affect Chloe, it affects all the characters, and so we meet Archer's friends - his support system - through his response to this colossal event." One thing that should be noted is that in the comics, Cissie is a superhero and a Young Justice member known as Arrowette — an identity that might be the character's destination on Watchtower, perhaps? "The significance of Cissie being on the show and being alongside Archer is that they're both characters that were raised with superhero parents — Archer's father is Green Arrow, and Cissie's mother was Miss Arrowette — and therefore they both have these potential paths laid out for them to embark on that, as we know, can be incredibly rough and dangerous and scary," Malone told VSGuide, "And that's where Brady comes in as this glue that keeps them together and offers this levity and this warmth and humour to the craziness that is their lives."
Gluck and Shipka are expected to make numerous appearances throughout the season, with their debut appearance expected to take place in the third episode of Watchtower Season 5, titled "Martyr." So stoked for this!! Love that we'll be dealing so much with Archer's story and his own journey into maybe becoming a hero in his own right! Also, Arrowette!?!?! Does this mean we'll meet her mother Bonnie?! Will she be some kind of stalker-fan in Ollie's life? Will her dad Bernall be working with Chloe at the Vale Verity?

I need some more spoilers... - Will Perry be making an appearance? - Will Renee and Katherine be sharing any scenes? - Will Helena ever embrace her mafia roots in any way? - Will Archer interact at all with Aunty Lois and Uncle Clark? (okay, I know they're not technically that, but still!) - How are Karl and Lucius doing? - Will Ollie have his classic goatee?! Feel free to answer any of the above, or offer whatever hints you feel like...

BLINDED BY SCIENCE! UPCOMING TWO-PARTER BRINGS IN THREE DC COMICS CHARACTERS! VSGuide has just found out that 3 new roles have been cast, and will appear in the upcoming two-part story being told in 2x09: " Trident" and 2x10: " Legacy"! All three characters are based on their DC Comics counterparts, and VSGuide has the exclusive story on who will be playing who! Up first is Tom T. Choi (" Teen Wolf", " Geostorm", " Agent Carter"), who has been cast to play the Aquaman-related character of ' Dr. Stephen Shin', a marine biologist who knew Tom Curry, the father to Arthur Curry/Aquaman, and appeared for the first time in the "New 52" continuity. A surface dweller with a surprising knowledge of Atlantis, Shin was able to offer at least some partial answers to a young Arthur but in later years the two had a contentious relationship after the death of Tom. " Our adaptation plays pretty close to the main idea of the character," explains series creator Alex Matthews, " but it lacks the background association of the comics. Instead, Shin is a marine archaeologist who became fascinated by the idea of Atlantis, and is in the pinnacle of his career now his belief in it has become reality." Secondly, Kelli Williams ("Lie to Me", "Army Wifes") has been cast to play a Wonder Woman character, 'Dr. Helena Sandsmark'. Sandsmark is a long-time supporting character for the Amazon princess, but in this adaption, like Shin, her relationship to an iconic character has been down-played. "Given that Wonder Woman, as an identity, hasn't been established yet, this was a part of the character we omitted," explains Matthews, referring to the limited appearances of Diana of Themyscira in sister show "Watchtower", "Instead, Helena Sandsmark comes into the story as one of the victims of the Royal Flush Gang, in her job role as a museum curator."
And, finally, Claire Coffee (" Grimm", " Franklin & Bash") joins to play a character with a rich comic book history, and a somewhat icy look on life - ' Louise Lincoln', also known as a second 'Killer Frost'! " Introducing Louise has been something I've long wanted to do and was considering it for a possible 3rd season story," Matthews excitedly told VSGuide, " but as the storyline for this season evolved and changed, we found we could have a place for her now." Matthews kept surprisingly quiet on just what that place was, adding that " We needed a scientific character who could present a thorn in the side of Kitty (Faulkner, played by starring cast member Felicia Day ). Talking with Jack (Malone, creator/exec producer of "Watchtower "), and finding using Louise was an idea he supported, lead us to go down this route to introduce her." As for whether or not Dr. Lincoln will eventually become her comic-book villainous counterpart, Matthews only told VSGuide that " It's one of a number of possibilities that the character could embrace during her time with us, but she will be popping up several times during the back half of Season 2 as a recurring character." Excited to see several more DC characters coming to life in "Metropolis: Special Crimes Unit"? Sound off below! All three will debut in 2x09: " Trident". A release date has yet to be revealed.

Fresh Blood of Blackridge
With a new season, comes new characters. We can confirm four new characters who will be taking on the mystery and craziness that is Blackridge. CAMILA MENDES has been cast to play IRIS HOLDEN, a young witch from a powerful bloodline. She is described as strong willed and loyal. She comes from a dark past that was helped escaped from her current boyfriend, BANE EVERS. Bane is played by FREDDIE HIGHMORE. Like Iris, Bane is a witch as well. A witch without magic. Iris and him are hell bent on getting his magic back. But one of them holds a very dark secret. Both Bane and Iris will play a huge role in Courtney's story as she will be having strange visions of something within the catacombs.
Next, NICHOLE BLOOM is going to be playing, LEXI AZUMI, young and spunky. She left Blackridge as a child and grew up in New Orleans. But after some bad things happened to her, she is ready to return home. Lexi can hear things that no one else can and see things no one else can. The big question is, what does that have to do with the Trinity? And finally, ROSS BUTLER will be playing HAYDEN SKYLAR, ex boyfriend of the first major causality of the series, Kate Swan. He is blinded by things and is determined to bring Kate back. No matter what it takes.
With these exciting new faces coming in to play, everything is going to change. Check back for more casting announcements and big changes coming to Nightfall, this Fall only on theVPN. "Big Changes" Why does that fill me with a cold sense of dread..?!?!?

The same goes with you Alex Matthews . Hurry up and get S2 underway.haha Damn, we are being called out, haha! Working on it, The Doctor I've hit a snag in the execution of my current episode, and I need to have a major rethink and possible restructuring of the details while keeping the core idea the same. You gotta admit, Jack Malone, it's nice to have someone cheering us on

The whole "Oliver announces he's Green Arrow" thing was such a pain. I started writing 'Watchtower' during Season 9 of Smallville (because there was talk of it being Allison's last season), and so that was obviously not something that happened yet. I tried to incorporate it in Season 2 and reference it — I think somewhere in episode 4 but I'm not sure on the specifics — but it's little things like that where continuity is a bit messed up. The consensus was that Gotham was basically disconnected from everything and you didn't have to erase your identity, change your name, and do all of that in order to move there and be safe from your past (this is touched on in the S5 premiere a bit too). With Oliver, he talked about what he did to escape from his "announcement" in relation to Helena who was trying to disassociate from Huntress and said to make it look like it was someone else. So, with that, he most likely came up with some story that he had to pretend he was Green Arrow, and revealed someone else as being the man under the mask. I feel like it's obviously a stain on his past and something that isn't forgotten — although it was probably dug up as opposition during his initial run for Mayor, which he ended up winning. But, right now, it'd just be conspiracy theorists on the internet (of Star City) that peg him as Green Arrow and are like "what if the announcement was real and the cover up is what's fake," you know? So it's not completely ignored. I have to take it as canon, obviously, haha. As for how it impacts things looking forward -- I think a big question right now is definitely whether or not Oliver is still Green Arrow? Is he pulling double duty or did he give it up? That's yet to be answered. See, that answers a lot of questions I had about how Chloe faked her death in Metropolis, came to Gotham, yet still used her name as a reporter at Gotham Daily and the Gotham Gazette. I can believe, given how riddled with corruption it was, and what Emil had planned, that if that is the case, it was the perfect place for it all. Kind of like a figurative 'No Man's Land' already, I guess... As for the "If/Is Question" of Ollie still being GA, I have faith you'll handle whatever path you take with him better then 'that other show' is. It's funny that we both kind of went down that rabbit hole together - the Mayoral Race of "M:SCU" S2 was planned from the beginning, about 2/3 years ago when I started outlining the general idea, but because of RL, it's coming out well after both "Arrow" and "Watchtower" have also dealt with it, so I've kinda pushed it into the background more of the season. I'm aware that is was a comic-book story, and I was excited that "Arrow" would be dealing with it, but not a fan of it's overall execution, but I'm happy you're using it as well. Speaking of the jump, are there plans for Dinah (and Mia) to appear this season? I really hope we get to see her side of the story, of how she and Ollie parted, and how she is with him and Chloe reuniting, and making it work? I would totally love that, as I suspect would Karl, but in the same breath, I'd hate for that tease, then have to wait forever and a day to read the rest of the season Good things, as they say... Just did a little bit of looking, and it's doable, especially if Mrs. Sullivan-Queen still has access to the Queen Industries private jet - it's about 4 and a half hours, apparently. I can imagine QI and WI having a business relationship, and that tying the cities together. Ha! Drunk!Jack coming to an Instagram feed very soon, maybe?!

Exclusive: Jay Hernandez Joins Watchtower's Final Season as SCPD's Star Police Officer! There's a new favourite in town Star City! Jay Hernandez has booked a reoccurring role as DC Comics' Thomas Bolt who has built a favourable reputation in Star City being an honourable police officer at the SCPD. In the comics, Thomas Bolt is the Mayor of Star City who suits up as a vigilante known as 'Steelclaw' in an attempt to do more for his city. However, 'Watchtower' will be taking the character in a different direction — changing his occupation, and twisting his mythology a little for the show. Instead, audiences will meet the still-noble-public-servant in the Season 5 premiere when Mayor Oliver Queen (Justin Hartley), embarking on his re-election campaign, seeks the highly popular officer out for a public endorsement that should secure him another term in office.
"Thomas Bolt is introduced in [episode one] as this political goldmine for Oliver to obtain after he suffers a slight misstep in his reelection campaign," series creator Jack Malone revealed to VSGuide, "He's very much a source of light and strength in the city and so his endorsement would pretty much secure Oliver another win." But what keeps the character around? "Nothing ever comes easy for our characters, and something happens in the [season premiere] that really calls for Thomas to stick around beyond the political puppetry of his existence."
With this comes the news that Oliver Queen not only became Mayor of Star City during the massive time-jump, but that he's running for his second term when the final season picks back up.
"Last season, it was really interesting to bring politics into the world and explore that through Gordon and his Mayoral run," Malone said of the Season 4 storyline, "But with the time-jump, Gordon wouldn't be Mayor anymore, and so I wanted [Season 5] to still have that role and that position but obviously it had to be with someone else. With Oliver, he did become Mayor in the comics, and with the time-jump reintroducing all the characters, I thought seeing him in this position would be really surprising and rewarding — especially because it brings up questions like: 'Is he still Green Arrow' and if so, 'How is he operating as a vigilante and as the Mayor,' and if not, 'How is he operating as a man without the mask?' There's a lot to explore for him as a father, a husband, as a Mayor, and as a hero, and this new character [Thomas Bolt] plays a big role in the exploration of that and his story overall."
Hernandez is expected to appear in multiple episodes throughout the entire fifth and final season of 'Watchtower.' Oooh!! I like Mr. Hernandez. He was awesome in "Suicide Squad", and I didn't click for a long while it was the same guy sans make-up as Miller's partner in S1 of "The Expanse". Looking forward to seeing what he brings to the table. It will be interesting to see how you tackle a similar storyline that "Arrow" has been attempting the last few seasons. I barely watch that show anymore, I'm more invested in the other shows, but I 'follow' more than 'watch' them. What I do wonder is how Oliver's coming-out as Green Arrow back in Season 10 "Smallville" will play into it..? Also, if we're following Oliver's mayoral campaign, does that mean we'll be hopping over that way often? Out of curiosity, where do you picture Gotham, and Star City geographically? Historically, Gotham's always been around the New Jersey area, and Star City is California way, but "Smallville" relocated Metropolis from Delaware to Kansas, so you've got precedent to move them!

JUST IN! RYAN GUZMAN BOOKS GUEST ROLE AS DC COMICS 'TEMPEST'! The retinue of the Royal Family has grown by one more significant "Aquaman" character, with the confirmation to VSGuide that Ryan Guzman (" Notorious", " Heroes Reborn", " Pretty Little Liars") has been booked to play the role of ' Garth', who in the comic book source material, was the first sidekick to use the name 'Aqualad'! The 30-year-old actor joins previously announced guest actors Alan Ritchson, Elena Satine and Dylan Bruce as ' King Orin', ' Queen Mera' and ' Prince Orm' respectively for the two-part story being told in episodes "Trident" and "Legacy". In the VPNDCU, while Garth has a history with Aquaman, he never took the codename 'Aqualad'. " Our version is very much inspired by the "Young Justice" take on the character, but still a unique entity of his own," explained Executive Producer Alex Matthews, " as he's more based on the later Garth when he adopted the name of 'Tempest' and learned sorcery." In fact, VSGuide has been told that his sorcery abilities have been retained in his depiction in "M:SCU". Matthews confirmed this by adding " It's a major part of Garth's character in his later years, so we felt it needed to be honoured, and adding another magic user always makes things a little interesting. His official title is 'the King's Tempest', and he acts as a personal bodyguard to King Orin during their time in the surface world." VSGuide had a brief opportunity to talk with Guzman, who seemed very excited to pursue the role, " I'm really looking forward to getting my feet wet, literally! I'm pumped to be joining the VPN family and taking part in this expanded universe. This is Garth's first time spending an extended amount of time away from Atlantis and in the surface world, so he feels like the proverbial fish out of the water. He's tested a lot by the events of the episodes, but I think he's going to come away from it with a better understanding of why his King is so determined to make a relationship between Atlantis and the surface work."

I'm just gonna randomly post some of the things I hope we see in Gotham now we've leapt forward 10-12 years... 1:) Bruce being the 'airhead playboy socialite', and having numerous love interests, but really we know he still pines/mourns Vicki. 2:) The Iceberg Lounge being a fixture of the city's nightlife, while Penguin runs a black market that is one of those "secrets that aren't really a secret" things 3:) Tim, Cassandra and Stephanie donning their costumes, although I wouldn't mind seeing Cassandra as 'Orphan' is 'Batgirl' does work in the established 'verse. 4:) POLICE BLIMPS!!! Seriously, ever since I saw them in the animated series, I love the idea of them as a fixture in the Gotham night sky! (That's why I love the new Promo Banner of Jack's!) 5:) More of the classic Rogues Gallery - you know who I really want back ... that's all I can think of right now, but I'll be back with more later, most probably
