INTERVIEW EXCLUSIVE: JOSH HUTCHERSON AND ALYSON STONER TALK SEQUENCE ONE OF AUDITION! After the news that Audition Sequence One had been green-lighted, we were able to sit down with the show’s two leads Josh Hutcherson and Alyson Stoner, who play best friend duo, Alex Berreta and Alisha Hall, who travel to Hollywood to follow their dream of becoming famous actors. VSGUIDE: So, what can you tell us about your characters? JOSH: Well, I play Alex Berreta, and he’s very outgoing, witty, and sometimes sarcastic. And he grew very close to his father once his mother died, and he’ll basically do anything for him, Alisha, and Paula once she enters the picture. [laughs] ALYSON: And I play Alisha Hall. She’s very quiet, but very sweet also. She can never do anything on her own, which sounds bad [laughs] but it always makes her better at what’s she doing, once she runs it through with Alex. VSGUIDE: Josh, you also star on The Super Teens, which is action-packed, and a full length show. What’s the difference when you’re starring in a drama webisode? JOSH: It’s very different. [laughs] The only similarity is that Fred and Alex are somewhat similar. But I do no stunts on Audition, even though I do fairly little with Super Teens. [laughs] And I’m on the set longer than I would be with Audition. VSGUIDE: Now, this one’s for Alyson. You’re a singer. Is Alisha a singer as well, or strictly an actress? ALYSON: Yes, Alisha can sing. In an episode during Sequence One, she shines with her voice, but she has to do it with a rather, not-so-nice girl. [laughs] VSGUIDE: You’re two co-stars, Patrick and Amy, play Alex’s father, and Alex and Alisha’s agents. What are their characters like? JOSH: Michael is very stern, and wants the best for Alex. He often butts heads with Paula, because he feels she isn’t what they need. And one critic described him as douche, which is understandable. [laughs] ALYSON: And Paula is super quirky and fun. She’s scatterbrained and has no idea what’s going on half the time, but she tries her best to make Alex and Alisha successful. And whether or not she does shall be revealed in the episodes to come. But I Paula will definitely be a fan-favorite. [laughs] VSGUIDE: What can we expect during this Sequence? JOSH: Alex gets his time to shine, once Paula enrolls him and Alisha in acting school. And we make enemies, which plays a big part in two or three episodes. ALYSON: And Alisha totally shines with her singing, and it’s a big step for her, because she doesn’t do it with Alex. VSGUIDE: You brought up that you make enemies. Care to share? JOSH: Well on our first day – yea, first day [laughs] – the two star students become, somewhat intimidated by us, but they would never admit that. ALYSON: But they are so not what they seem. JOSH: No they are not. VSGUIDE: What is the relationship between your characters? Will there be conflict between them? JOSH: Alex and Alisha are best friends. It’s strictly plutonic. And Alex only wants big roles, not the small ones. And when this arc ends, these characters are in for a tough decision. [laughs] ALYSON: Yea, she keeps him grounded. And conflict will come up, not in this arc, but it will happen. Alisha is faced with a decision that will not only affect her, but everyone around her, including Alex. VSGUIDE: Last question. Who should watch Audition, and why? JOSH: Audition is about dreams, not only from Alex and Alisha, but from Paula and Michael as well. It shows Hollywood from a different point of view, and shows it’s not all glitz and glam, and shows that it is hard to become an actor, and sometimes you will be denied. And I don’t think there has been a show like that. ALYSON: And we’ve got comedy and drama. It’s a fun ride, but it also dives into real world problems, that not only teenagers face, but adults face as well. VSGUIDE: Well, there you have it folks! The latest news on the Drama/Comedy webisode! Have any questions or are you just excited? Sound off below!

INTERVIEW EXCLUSIVE: PATRICK DEMPSEY AND AMY ADAMS DISCUSS AUDITION! Earlier today, we were able to sit down with Patrick Dempsey and Amy Adams, who star in the new VPN Webisode Drama/Comedy, Audition. Dempsey plays Alex Berreta’s father, who has traveled to Los Angeles with his son and son’s best friend, Alisha Hall. And Adams plays quirky, all-over-the-place, talent agent, Paula Smith! VSGUIDE: So, we know what type of characters you both play, but what sort of conflict will come up in this arc? PATRICK: Michael is very stern -- a douche, if you will [laughs] -- and only wants the best for his son, Alex. He is very, very skeptical about hiring Paula, but maybe, just maybe, he’ll finally accept her. AMY: Paula struggles through this entire arc -- with not finding any auditions for the kids, and having Michael on her case 24/7. [laughs] And she will fail most of the time, but that’s what Hollywood’s about. VSGUIDE: You’ve already described the relationship between your characters. Will there be any romantic relationship between them or is it strictly plutonic? PATRICK: Strictly plutonic -- if you'd even call it that. [laughs] Michael lost his wife not too long ago, and I don’t think he’d be open for any romance anytime soon. AMY: Yea, Paula and Michael hate each other. [laughs] But honestly, I don’t think Audition is about all that typical romance stuff. There’s been no romantic tension with the episodes we’ve shot, and I don’t think there will be. You know, unless Paula meets someone just like her. [laughs] VSGUIDE: Amy, while in the process of being picked to be on the VPN’s line-up, everyone said that Paula was their favorite character. Does that put any pressure on you? AMY: Loads! [laughs] I’m super excited the character was well received, and I hope she continues to be. I’m doing everything I can to live up the fan-favorite known as Paula Smith, and I just hope that she remains the fan-favorite for a while. VSGUIDE: And Patrick, Michael has been described as very stern and very dad-like. Are you that type of father at home? PATRICK: Michael is a very unique character, in my opinion. In most of television today, the dad is described as a moron and idiot. Michael isn’t that. He’s very protective of his child, and I’m the same way. So, Michael and I do have a lot in common. VSGUIDE: It was stated that every cast member in Audition was following a dream. Alex and Alisha’s dream is pretty obvious. So, what is your character’s dream? PATRICK: Michael wants Alex to succeed. That’s his life’s dream. In the future, he may develop more, but for now, that’s his main priority. AMY: And Paula just wants to book an audition for these kids! [laughs] Basically, Alex, Alisha and Michael have grown to be her family. She wants them to do nothing but succeed. And if she succeeds in the process, that’s good, too. [laughs] VSGUIDE: Last question. Why should someone tune in to Audition? PATRICK: If anyone’s ever had a dream, this show is for you. And sometimes, dreams get shattered. AMY: But there will always be people there to help you put the pieces back together. VSGUIDE: Well, there you have it folks! The latest news on the Drama/Comedy Webisode! Have any questions or are you just excited? Sound off below!
