Frank Darabont has received the green light from TNT on his new TV series, which is based on the novel "L.A. Noir." The network has agreed to pick up the six-episode first season of the show.
Though Daranont's new series has been going by the name "L.A. Noir," TNT said the project is untitled in their press release announcing the series pick-up. "L.A. Noir" is the name of the John Buntin book that this series is based on, not to be confused with the popular video game, "L.A. Noire," which came out last year.
Darabont has brought two of his "Walking Dead" alums with him to this new series. Jon Bernthal and Jeffrey DeMunn, both of whom were killed off on AMC's hit zombie apocalypse show after Darabont was fired last year, will headline this project. "Heroes" star Milo Ventimiglia, "The Happening's" Jeremy Strong and "Desperate Housewives'" Neil McDonough round out the cast, while Simon Pegg guest stars in the show's first episode.
The plan is to have Darabont both write and direct the pilot episode. No word yet on when the series will air.
Here's the official synopsis:

Arrow and Vampire Diaries Producers Team Up for Potential New CW Drama "Tomorrow People"
Greg Berlanti - co-creator and producer of the new CW hit series Arrow - and Julie Plec - current showrunner for The Vampire Diaries - have decided to team up for a new CW series called Tomorrow People.
Tomorrow People is actually a UK series that originally aired between 1973-1979. Berlanti and Plec (who were actually friends in college) both enjoyed the series back while it was on the air and have decided to adapt it for American audiences.
The show focuses on a group of young people with special powers during as teleportation and telepathy. They team up together to help fight evil. In other words, think Heroes meets every superhero movie ever made, which is essentially what this sounds like.
Plec will executive produce the drama if it gets picked up to series. The pilot was written by Chuck scribe Phil Klemmer.

The Saint Returns to Television"The Saint," the hit British television series that made a star of leading man Roger Moore, is headed back to television. Deadline reports that Eliza Dushku ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Dollhouse") and Adam Rayner ("Hunted," "Hawthorne") are attached to star in a new pilot with Moore himself co-producing. As with the original show, which ran from 1962 to 1969, the new "The Saint" is based on the novels of Leslie Charteris and the character of Simon Templar, first introduced in 1928's "Meet the Tiger." Templar, a mysterious thief-turned-vigilante-hero, will be played by Rayner with Dushku taking on the part of love interest Patricia Holm (who appeared in the books but not the original show). Simon West (The Mechanic, The Expendables 2) is attached to direct the pilot with Jesse Alexander providing the screenplay.

Skyfall Duo Bringing Frankenstein Project to Showtime
Skyfall helmer Sam Mendes and co-writer John Logan are in talks with Showtime to develop a high-concept drama series, reports Deadline. But this isn't any ordinary "drama" as the site says:
"The untitled drama, which has undergone some tweaking from the original spec to tailor it to the Showtime audiences, is described as a psychological horror drama series with literary underpinnings, including Dr. Frankenstein and his creature, set in the 1800s."
This is just the latest Frankenstein-themed project to get some heat. There are a number of films in the works - including Fox's Frankenstein and Lionsgate's I, Frankenstein as well as a television series at NBC.

^ I can't take the Original storyline when its on The Vampire Diaries. There's no way I'd be able to watch a whole series devoted to them. I just don't find them that interesting, at all. But, if it means Klaus will finally be off the show, then I'm for this idea. lol

See I didn't mind the Originals storyline per say... What I did have an issue with was how they built up Klaus to be this bad ass and then they humanized him. Made him weak. I like where they are heading this season with him, so who knows. Lol.

The CW's Amazon Casting Now, No Plans for Batman Show
A few months ago, it was announced that The CW was venturing into the world of Wonder Woman with a new series titled Amazon. Writer Allan Heinberg has been commissioned to write a script, but no pilot has officially been ordered. In an interview with IGN, CW President Mark Pedowitz had this to say: “First off, we’re waiting to see the script. Second off, we’re busy casting for Diana as we speak. Hopefully the script works the way we want. It's an origination story in the sense that Smallville was an origination story.”
With Warner Bros.' plan to have a Justice League film in theaters by 2015, The CW made sure the new series wouldn't interfere. “We worked carefully with Warner Bros. to make sure Warner Bros. theatrical was onboard so we were able to get it done. You want to work carefully with your studio to make sure that it works and that it doesn’t interfere with their projects.”
Pedowitz also says it's possible that Arrow and Amazon might be in the same 'universe.' “I think they all could exist in the same world, but whether they do or they don’t is depending on what the showrunner wants to do.”
Even though it would appear the stars are aligning for the potential new series, a pilot still won't be comissioned for a while. “If we get the right script and the right casting, we’ll go right forward to pilot.”
With Wonder Woman potentially getting her own series and the Superman series Smallville having wrapped up, that leaves just one of the DC Universe's Trinity without a CW TV show - Batman. Pedowitz shot down all of our hopes by saying there are currently no plans for a Batman TV show.

Former "Buffy" and "Ringer" star Sarah Michelle Gellar will play Robin Williams' daughter in the David E. Kelley workplace comedy pilot, "Crazy Ones," at CBS.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "the single-camera entry revolves around the dynamics between a father named Simon Roberts (Good Will Hunting Oscar winner Robin Williams) and his daughter and is set in the world of advertising.
Gellar will play Sydney Roberts, who is described as "intense, driven, organized and burdened with being practical. Sydney is the creative director and life and soul of the Roberts and Roberts Advertising Agency at the center of the comedy. She wants to be her father but is too busy having to parent him."
Kelley is writing the pilot and will executive produce alongside Dean Lorey, Bill D'Elia, John Montgomery and Mark Teitelbaum. Jason Winer ("Modern Family," "1600 Penn") will direct the pilot.
-----------------------
Now, I'm not a big comedy guy, but David E. Kelley, Sarah Michelle Gellar and most of all, Robin Williams?? I might have to give this show a shot.

Buffy's Watcher Anthony Head to Rule Over The CW's Selection Drama
For years, Anthony Head watched a young woman fight to save the world. Now, he’ll witness a different young woman fight to become royalty. Head, Buffy‘s erstwhile Watcher, has been tapped to co-star in The CW drama pilot The Selection.
From Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain (Dollhouse, The Vampire Diaries), the Hunger Games-esque project is set 300 years in the future and centers on a working class woman (played by Israeli actress Yael Grobglas) chosen by lottery to participate in a competition for the Prince’s (Michael Malarkey) hand to become the nation’s next queen.
Head joins as King Clarkson, the royal family’s patriarch. Head’s most recent TV credits include Merlin, NBC’s ill-fated Free Agents and the U.K.’s Dancing on the Edge.

The Wachowskis and Straczynski Team Up with Netflix for Sense8
Netflix will bring Georgeville Television's "Sense8," a gripping global tale of minds linked and souls hunted, exclusively to its members to watch instantly in late 2014.
The 10 episode season one of "Sense8" marks the first foray into television by the Wachowskis, the filmmakers behind Bound, The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded, The Matrix Revolutions, V for Vendetta, Speed Racer and Cloud Atlas, and is the latest project from veteran show runner J. Michael Straczynski, creator of the Hugo Award-winning "Babylon 5" TV series and whose film credits include Changeling, Thor and Underworld Awakening.
"Andy and Lana Wachowski and Joe Straczynski are among the most imaginative writers and gifted visual storytellers of our time," said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos. "Their incredible creations are favorites of Netflix members globally and we can't wait to bring 'Sense8' to life."
"We're excited to work with Netflix and Georgeville Television on this project, and we've wanted to work with Joe Straczynski for years, chiefly due to the fact his name is harder to pronounce than ours, but also because we share a love of genre and all things nerdy," said Andy and Lana Wachowski . "Several years ago, we had a late night conversation about the ways technology simultaneously unites and divides us, and out of that paradox 'Sense8' was born."
"We are proud to be working with Netflix on this new series," said Straczynski. "Lana, Andy, and I are fans of each other's creations, and have been looking for something to do together for nearly a decade."
"Sense8" is being produced by Georgeville Television, in association with Studio JMS. Georgeville Television is a Reliance Entertainment company and independent television studio, formed by veteran film and television producer Marc Rosen, in partnership by Motion Picture Capital's Leon Clarance and Producer Deepak Nayar. Formed in 2012, Georgeville Television currently has two series in pre-production, including NBC's "Crossbones" starring John Malkovich. Rosen, Clarance, and Nayar will serve as executive producers on "Sense8."
Studio JMS, launched last year by Straczynski and CEO Patricia Tallman, was founded to produce a wide range of film, television, comics and other media properties. In addition to The Flickering Light, Straczynski's feature directorial debut, and "Sense8," Studio JMS has created a new comics imprint, Joe's Comics, published in partnership with Image Comics. Its first series, "Ten Grand," will debut in May. In addition to "Sense8," Motion Picture Capital is producing The Flickering Light, which begins filming in Berlin later this year.
"'Sense8' is a dream-come-true creatively, and we look forward to working closely with our new partners at Netflix, with whom we could not be more excited to bring the Wachowskis' first TV series ever to life," said Rosen.
The Wachowskis are starting production next month on their new sci-fi adventure Jupiter Ascending for Warner Brothers, starring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis.
"We're delighted to once again partner with Joe, and have the opportunity to work with Lana and Andy, two of our movie-making heroes, on their television debut," said Clarance. "They have created a brilliant concept, which will be a wonderful story to produce, and a rich conceptual world for viewers to experience."

Miramax and Scorsese Developing Gangs of New York TV Series
Miramax and Academy Award-winning director Martin Scorsese announced today that they are developing a television series based on the film Gangs of New York. The original film released in 2002 by Miramax and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz and Daniel Day-Lewis, focused on early confrontations between rival gangs in New York in the mid to late 1800's.
The series will draw from the multitude of events surrounding organized gangs at the turn of the century and shortly thereafter in America, not only in New York, but in other cities such as Chicago and New Orleans and the birth of organized crime in America.
"This time and era of America's history and heritage is rich with characters and stories that we could not fully explore in a two hour film. A television series allows us the time and creative freedom to bring this colorful world, and all the implications it had and still does on our society, to life. I am excited to partner with Miramax in telling these stories," stated Martin Scorsese.
"No one better exemplifies what the new Miramax is and will be better than Martin Scorsese. His dedication to quality and the art of storytelling continues to excite everyone that works with him and watches his films and television programs. We could not think of a better partner for this project than the creator of the wonderful film on which it is based," stated Richard Nanula, chairman of Miramax and a principal at Colony Capital.

Is NBC's 'Heroes' Making a Return?
TV Line is reporting that MSN is looking into reviving the NBC series Heroes exclusively for the Xbox platform. Though they're said to be in early talks with NBC about this possibility, they do want it to be a new creation that will feature "new stories and heroes, while mixing in cameos from the original series’ cast."
Created by Tim Kring, Heroes lasted for four seasons on NBC and starred Hayden Panettiere, Milo Ventimiglia, Adrian Pasdar, Leonard Roberts, Ali Larter, Cristine Rose and Zachary Quinto. The series came to an end in 2010 after 77 episodes. --------
Well, this news came out of absolutely nowhere, and I'm pretty sure that's where it's gonna stay. But if this actually manages to happen, I'd probably tune in, just due to curiosity. Seriously doubt it though. This ship is long gone (for me at least).
