When super-strength powered thieves attempt to rob the LexCorp building but end up kidnapping a young up and coming scientist instead, Captain Maggie Sawyer (Jill Teed) of Metropolis' Special Crimes Unit is assigned the case. She recruits Officer Danny Turpin (David Paetkau) to help with the investigation, and works alongside lab tech Wally West (Fran Kranz), medical examiner Dr. Beth Chapel (Tembi Locke) and STAR Labs scientist Dr. Kitty Faulkner (Felicia Day) in an effort to prevent her department from being dissolved, and to prove the need for it in a world with superheroes.

However, because all the deceased were either meta-human or meteor-infected, Dr. Roth herself becomes the chief suspect.
