Jenna is one of the hosts of the Beat. She is fun, flirty, and little naive. She wants to prove to everyone that she's not just a dumb blonde but at the same time, often caters to those stereotypes. She constantly looks for support from her close circle of friends including Gabby and James. Always in fear of losing her job, she is unable to just relax and enjoy the moment. After her relationship with playboy Chris Fisher goes public, Jenna finds herself on an emotional roller-coaster that threatens not only her sanity, but her job and her relationship with her friends as well.
Gabby is Jenna’s best friend and the wardrobe stylist for the Beat. Unable to filter what comes out of her mouth, Gabby presents an alternative point of view. This can also get her into trouble. Often referred to as a male in a female’s body, Gabby is ever honest and vulgar. She is also extremely supportive and protective of her best friend, Jenna. Unfortunately, she finds herself in the middle of Jenna's affairs which sometimes creates a rift in their relationship. Gabby is carefree, energetic, very self aware. This season, we will see her try to find a balance between being supportive and butting in.
James is the smart and handsome friend of Gabby and Jenna. A prominent New Yorker all his life, he has developed many connections that prove useful throughout the season. He is extremely caring of people in general, seen through his involvement with many different charities. Struggling with his own issues, James has to decide whether he will be the man everyone wants him to be or the man that he really is.
Natasha serves as a rival to both Jenna and Gabby. As the other co-host of the Beat, she wants nothing more than to see Jenna fail so that she can keep her job. Natasha is extremely private, only revealing certain information about herself. She disguises her feelings through witty remarks and condescending undertones. As an upper middle class woman, she maintains a certain refined image that clashes with Jenna's wildness. Often appearing superficial and cynical, she will prove to be more than that when her mother finds her way back into her life.
Chris is handsome, charming, and the cost host of the most popular celebrity gossip show in New York. He is arrogant, intelligent, and understands people very well. He uses this to his advantage. Surrounded by a circle of pigheaded friends, Chris's only level headed friend Kevin will be the one to keep him in line. Often regarded as "the guy every man wants to be" Chris desires something more. Problem is, he loves everything about his current life. This season, he will struggle with trying to be a good guy or remaining the carefree, womanizing bachelor. His hot and cold relationship with Jenna further complicates things. Can this heart-breaker change his ways?
David is the managing director for the Beat. He acts as a friend and confidante to Jenna. He is extremely supportive to those around him. Too much, some would say. David has trouble dividing time between his work and family, which is one of the many reasons why his marriage has failed. This season, we will see David struggle to find that balance and become a better father to his children. Working a demanding job while dealing with a demanding ex-wife will be his greatest test this season. Can he survive?
Mary “Bloody Mary” Frankfort is the no holds barred, ball busting managing director of the Village. Always out for blood, she will do whatever it takes to keep her show number one. Coming from a lower middle class family, she works hard and never takes no for an answer. Always seen at work as the boss from hell, she is also loving wife and mother of three. Simone is the only work friend that knows of her private life. With that said, she is uncompromising and maintains a high quality work ethic. This season, we will see her go to great lengths to fulfill her goals and face challenges that just may force her to show some weakness.
Supporting/Recurring Cast

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Natalie Dormer as Casey Summers
Casey is the co-host of the Village. She acts as the neutral party and eases tense or awkward situations. Even though she tries to stay out of things, she always finds herself in the middle of the conflict between the workers of both shows. This annoys her to no end.
Robert Pine as Edward Cox
Edward is one of the network executives. Older and balding, the others seek to push him out of the company. He is in constant fear of losing his job. Edward has close ties with David Sullivan and often acts as a liaison to the other execs.
Holly Marie Combs as Piper Sullivan
Piper is David’s manipulating and hellish ex-wife. She is very demanding and unrelenting. Her main desire this season is to punish her husband for their failed marriage. Even so, she also wants him to see what an absent father he has been to their children and how damaging that is for them. Her ambivalent feelings towards him will cause her to make huge mistakes that will garner even greater consequences.
Tamara Taylor as Simone Harris
Simone is the responsible and approachable producer for the Village. While Mary terrorizes her employees, Simone provides a safe-haven for them to ask questions and double check on tasks they are too afraid to approach Mary with. Although this is true, she will reprehend those who ask questions they should already know the answer to. She is very straightforward and like Mary, does not respond well to "incompetence and complacency" as she puts it. She is Mary's loyal friend, as they have worked together for many years.
Peter Jacobson as Fred Samson
Fred is the snarky and highly annoying producer for the Beat. He often oversteps his boundaries and irritates both Jenna and Natasha to no end. He possesses a great desire to keep his current job and will do anything to maintain that, even if it means throwing David Sullivan under the bus. He will play a pivotal role in the Jenna Photo scandal. We will also see him creating obstacles for his co-workers throughout the season.
