It started out as just a minor virus. Something doctors said only required much needed sleep and medication. Unfortunately this medication triggered something in those sick. The virus started spreading, and soon turned in to a disease. When people started dying, yet didn't close their eyes, scientists forcibly bringing in those infected, before and after their deaths.
There was nationwide heartbreak, and the infection spread worldwide in just months. There were survivors, but they were all spread far apart. In fact there were many, but some of them had gone crazy from loss and what they'd witnessed. Some were murderers, taking your supplies to live off of. Some had become cannibals, since food had run short. There weren't as many survivors who still kept their sanity.
But one group of 17 year old teenagers that went to highschool together, will band together in hopes of survival, and with nothing but each other, they must face the world head on.
Nicholas Hoult as Kevin York
Kevin had always been a nice guy. He had a lot of friends, and most of them were girls. He never took advantage, and was always a helping hand when needed. On the day the infected attacked his home, his mother was the first one down. His dad was at work, so he had no clue if he was okay. He ran to his little brothers room to grab him and go, but they'd already gotten to him. Kevin was always a good guy. And now he only thinks about how he didn't deserve this, replaying the same images of his brother and mom over in his head. He still has a small hope that the world will go back to normal, but his hopes are always crushed by everyone around him.
Logan Lerman as Anthony Tyler
Anthony was the smart kid. Always used logic, and was never really very popular, but never a geek. He fit in like any average student, but rarely got F's and knew a lot more then people thought he did. He is very perceptive, and thinks carefully before he does something he regrets. Knowing more about zombies then the rest of the group, he stays as quiet as possible and hides whenever he feels uncertain.
Brant Daughtery as Max Dunn
Back in school, Max was always the joker of the school. He was sarcastic, with great looks, and was also very popular. He never really let it get to his head, because all together he was a nice person with a good sense of humor, but because of the crowd he hangs out with, people often mistake him for a bad guy. Max knows there is no way the world will return to it's previous state, and knows his chances of survival are slim, so he practices fighting in his free time, and tries to get his new friends to also practice, but they usually ignore him.
India Eisley as Kiara Weissler
Kiara was always an outsider in school. She was usually quiet, and when someone tried to bully her, she'd stand up for herself and fight back. Kiara was tough. She only ever had one friend, Hannah, who died when they were hanging out at her house when they were attacked by a zombie. Her mother died when she was six, and her father was abusive towards and her older brother. When she got together with the group, her first suggestion was to get somewhere safe, then they'd talk options. She just wanted to be happy again, but knows she'll be far from it with these people.
Shay Mitchell as Grace Sanford
She was a fairly sweet girl, who befriended a lot of people. A lot of boys liked her because of her great looks, and her parents were very proud of her. Grace has almost all A's in school, and was very close to her sister Priscilla. After the infection took over most of the world, she immediately got her stuff together, but couldn't get to her sister because she was in Florida, visiting their grandmother. Grace couldn't join her because she had a school event coming up. She was listening to the radio in her car when running away from her home and heard a safe house was rumored in Missouri.
Sandra McCoy as Jennifer Henley
Throughout every year of school, since elementary, Jennifer was loved by most of the school. Kiara and Jenn literally hate each other, and are complete opposites. She is very popular and beautiful, with boys constantly chasing her. When the infection spread, she went right to her boyfriends house, to find him dead. She went to the school, where she hid out until she ended up seeing the rest of the group. Jennifer was never a nice girl, but being where she is now, she knows it's time to change, but definitely dislikes it. She knows nothing about fighting because the only class outside of school she ever took was dance.
