Before I go into the guidelines for pitching a webisode series, you may be asking yourself; What is a webisode series? Well, I'm here to tell you:
A webisode series is a web series which operates similarly to your standard vs', but distributes shortened scripts (typically 10-12 pages). Webisode series' are divided into sequences/seasons that, on average, contain 6-12 episodes or parts, per sequence. A sequence can also be split up into sections called "arcs."
Now that theVPN is accepting pitches for Webisode series', a new set of rules and regulations have come into play. While pitches in the webisode format will operate, for the most part, like a standard web series, there are a few differences when it comes to pitching, pre-production, production and distribution. Make sure you read the following carefully.
-- First and foremost, you must be registered on the forum.
-- A minimum of 15 posts is required for your pitch to be applicable.
-- For your webisode series to be considered for pick-up, you must have a completed pitch, as well as a number of scripts completed for your first sequence (season). 1-2 episodes must be completed if your sequence is less than 6 episodes long. If it's a longer sequence (8-12 episodes per sequence) than you may be required to complete 3-4 episodes before your series is picked up, just to make sure you know exactly where you want your first sequence to end up.
-- A "series bible" may be required before pick up, to give the Review Board an idea of where your show is going. Your bible will typically include general script outlines, and character developments for your entire first sequence/season.
-- Post Pick-up; You must have at least 3/4 of your first sequence written before your series premieres. We would prefer if webisode series' go uninterrupted.
And there you have it! Happy pitching!
