 Resident Evil, known as Biohazard, in Japan, is a media franchise owned by the video game company Capcom. It was created by Shinji Mikami as a survival horror game series that was initiated with the eponymous PlayStation title Resident Evil in 1996. I figured since I know there are a few RE fans on the site, I'd create a thread aimed towards the games. Resident Evil is, by far, the best survival horror game I've ever played despite the fact that RE4 and RE5 have turned it more in the direction of action. Rumor has it, it'll be getting back to it's survival horror roots very soon.
My favorite games are definitely Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil CODE: Veronica, with Resident Evil 3 coming in third. That's not to say I didn't enjoy the original game that started it all, but I prefer the sequels.

Just watched the trailer for "Resident Evil 6". Despite one of the lead characters being the much-overrated Leon S. Kennedy, it looks like it's going to be great. It's finally getting back to its survival horror roots with zombies, T-Virus, G-Virus and a ravaged city. The gameplay looks pretty epic. Chris Redfield is also in it, but no signs of other iconic characters like Jill Valentine and Claire Redfield. There is also a strange redhead I don't recognize, that I kind of hope turns out to be Steve Burnside.
I hope it lives up to the hype that it's sure to bring. I was seriously let down by RE4 and RE5, so I hope RE6 doesn't dig the hole deeper. I truly love this series, but I'm losing hope.

Resident Evil 6 has been announced? Damn, the only RE titles I was aware of was Revelations and Operation: Raccoon City. So thats THREE Resident Evil games this year.
As for the trailer, it looks quite good. Mix between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5 game play wise, which I can get behind. Being able to play as Leon and Chris is good, although having Jill and Claire would be awesome.
Just to state, my favourite games in the series is the Resident Evil Remake, Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3. I do like them all, even the disappointment that was Resident Evil 5.

The one thing about Resident Evil 3 that always sticks out to me in my mind is the time I STUPIDLY saved the game while I was on "Danger" and had no healing items, and no ammo. Then, Nemesis busts into the Raccoon Police Department with me with his bullshit rocket launcher. I couldn't fight him because of the conditions stated above, so I had to run around and try to go about my business --- WHILE HE CHASED ME! Do you know how hard it is to concentrate on the tasks at hand while running from that massive asshole?! The ONLY reason I even EVENTUALLY stood a chance was because he was too close to a wall when he shot his rocket launcher and I moved, so it exploded against the wall and vaporized the launcher.
Needless to say, while a funny story to tell now, that was one of my worst experiences LMFAO.

Is it bad that I'm kinda happy that the XBOX players don't get the entire series in the pack? I mean, it makes sense. Resident Evil was originally released on Playstation, then ported to everything else. But, yeah. XD -smug-

HAHA! No I am happy as well!! I love my PS3 Lmao!!! I'm totally pumped! October can't come fast enough. Lol. I think I have owned every one of these games on different systems except for RE2 which happened to be my fav game out of all of them lol.

I'm so happy this thread exists I just downloaded the XBOX demo for six and it's so amazing thus far and Aimee I disagree I love Leon but can't stand Chris especially since he's been the lead two games in a row. I wouldn't mind him every now again but somehow he's seemed to become the "lead" character and the most annoying. I totally plan to but the steel case edition even though it's 100$ but it'll be worth it  and btw Aimee and Darren we do totally get the combo pack. |

Leon irritates me because he was in Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 4, and was the lead character in Resident Evil: Degeneration and is the main character in Resident Evil: Damnation as well. Like, Capcom seems to spam him everywhere and it's sooo annoying because there are so many other amazing characters who get very little focus compared to him. Personally I wanna see Claire again, not Leon. Which is why I hope she makes an appearance in RE6 somewhere -- it would make sense because Sherry Birkin is also in RE6. I'd also like to see Steve Burnside again. That's not to say I don't get tired of Chris sometimes too, but he hasn't been... "abused" the way that Leon has, I guess XD To me, it seems like Leon has become the main guy. I wonder if there is a PS3 demo...I'll have to check it out. I'm pre-ordering the game sometime next week. I've gotta get Mists of Pandaria out of the way first, which comes out next Tuesday. XBOX gets the collection, but they don't get all the games like the PS3 version does. They get a few of them plus Resident Evil: Degeneration. That's what the dude at GameStop told me XD |

I guess that's true thats weird - I think it's more or less for copyright purposes, I think Playstation own's the rights too 2 and Nemesis well XBOX only bought copyright for 4, Code Veronica (which is actually 4) and 5 and obviously 6. Plus Degeneration. Huh, that does kinda suck 2 and 3 are my favorite  But the worst part is the steelcase edition doesn't seem to come with anything and it's 99.99 well the archives is only 89.99. WTF! and yeah you should check it out it was supposed to come out yesterday at noon for both XBOX and PS3. |

Played the demo tonight... HOLY CRAP! Yes! I pre-ordered this bad boy a few months ago off of Amazon because they guarantee the lowest price, and I pre-ordered it at 89.99 and one week it went down to 84.99, $5 savings woo woo! Lol. I'm on a budget Lol. Anyhow it's fantastic, I think I enjoyed Leon's and Chris's levels better then Jake's.

Oh Aimee I forgot to mention this before but yes, I completly agree I was so angry when I found out Chris and Leon were coming back but not Claire!! But my hopes are that Chris kinda bites it at the end of this one and we get a Claire game for 7 I mean her whole story has been about her brother we've gotten so much latley of Chris that I feel the only real way for his story to conclude would be him dying, I mean the guy has spent most of his adult life fight Bio Terrorism, I don't think he'd really be able to kick back and relax afterwards Jill maybe could because all she's ever wanted was to escape and for this to be over. But Chris no way, I think he's going to die I'll maybe even be dissapointed if he doesn't but at least it would give the creators the room they need to bring Claire back into the fold. Plus I was reading that the creators have plans for Claire and Jill (which I think is really just them being in six's mercenary games) but hope that seven will have the two of them team up. But the whole purpose of that rant was for me to comment on Darrin's post with - I also played it and have to say I loved Leon's story liked Jake's (mostly cause I immediately played as Sherry - she was always one of my favorite after Claire and Jill it was Sherry and than Leon. So after playing LEON's campaign - I quickly understood why they had picked him over all the other characters, it's hard to explain but I suppose Leon being a "classic" character makes sense his story at least is a for sure return to form for the series, the feeling, the tight spaces even the soundtrack has a hint of the original scores. It's creepy and you never know what's going to attack you from any angle. Chris and even in small ways Jill has evolved with the game and there almost part of a different genre now so it wouldn't feel the same if either of those two were given Leon's darker more classic story. well CHRIS's Campaign really dives into the action and also seems to start right at the beginning of the story. It kinda had the same feeling of five just without Sheva, It was literally a lot brighter than Leon's campaign and felt almost like a whole new game especially with the edition of the J'avo which are ultra annoying. than there's Jake and Sherry's story which was fun and seemed to be the medium between the two opposites. The demo also confirmed everything I had thought about what Jake was going to be and seeing Sherry has been given healing powers was a cool idea, they really force you to get used to the new dodging feature as if you don't you probably won't survive especially the new hell hounds which spit needles at you and if you don't dodge or roll out of the way always hit you! though what I don't get is wouldn't Sherry also contain the same antibodies that Jake does? Anyways after that long rant, I am now officially more excited than I was before two weeks can't come fast enough |

I definitely need to play the demo tonight. I'm so glad that it's getting back to it's survival horror roots. I am literally sick and tired of this action game bullshit it's pulling. Resident Evil created and revolutionized the survival horror genre, so for it to fall into the action genre was so disappointing. I can't wait to check it out for myself.
And yeah, I totally agree about getting Claire and Jill in RE7. I would DIE to see them in a game teaming up. Though I'm not sure about Chris dying. It would really suck to see him die, though it could lead to some serious character development for Claire (and Jill, because let's face it, she loves him whether it's spoken or not). For her to lose her brother, who was the sole reason she was even involved in all this would be pretty tragic for her and could lead to some great stories.
Also! If you guys like reading, I suggest picking up the Resident Evil novelizations by S.D. Perry. I own all of them and they are fucking AMAZING. You can tell she loves these games because she keeps them as canon as possible, and even does her own side-stories, too. It's awesome.

Bought Resident Evil 6 today. No idea why its out so early in Australia but whatever.
I've finished Leon's campaign. The story, like all Capcom stories, has lots of potential but fails to live up to it.
Unlike a certain annoying blonde President daughter, Leon's partner this time round, Helena, is actually pretty well written for a Capcom character. Her motivations are believable and her voice acting isn't too shabby.
The gameplay for Leon is basically like "Lost In Nightmares", DLC from Resident Evil 5. Much more survival horror-ish than the previous game.
I've only just begun Chris's campaign, and his gameplay is straight out of 5. Gunplay and action and explosions. But it works. Plus his partner isn't too bad either.
I've given the Mercenaries mode a quick go as well... I hate it. I don't recommend it.
