Good afternoon, my name is Trish Morgan from VPtoday and I have returned to give the members of this great network, VPN, the latest on what's been happening, and what I've uncovered about the upcoming, and current shows coming your way.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The month of December kicks off with exciting news. And luckily I've been able to scrape off as much gossip on the topic as possible and have uncovered some amazing news. It looks like two of the most favourited characters in television history will be returning next year to the VPN, with their own shows. That's right! Allison Mack and Kristin Kreuk will be showing off their new series Monday nights on the VPN, airing back to back; turning the night into something legendary. And of course, with this new info, we've also discovered that this will push X-Men Legends into a later time, airing at 10/9c.
Trinity
Smallville's Lana Lang comes to a town in New York called Odyssey to begin her destiny as a hero of the people. She makes new friends and also meets up with some old ones in the midst of her journey. They will work together as a team of heroes to battle a brilliant and deadly scientist named Dr. Amanda Waller, who has been hired by Lex Luthor to do exactly one thing, eliminate his former wife, Lana Lang. In order to do just that, Dr. Waller organizes a team of meteor infected assassins codename: The Elite, to destroy Lana and her new team. The series cast consists of Kristin Kruek, Paul Wesley, Anna Paquin, Jamie Bamber and Sam Jones III reprising his role of Pete Ross.
Watchtower
Having faked her own death to escape the Department of Domestic Security, a large government organization bent on keeping the biggest secret of all, Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack) managed to keep off the radar for three months; having started a new life in Gotham. Her new job, working for Perry White (Michael McKean), as a reporter for Gotham Daily leads her down a dark path that opens up the very roots of evil that grow in this dark city; and having saved a runaway teenage, Helena Bertineli (Kayla Ewell), she soon discovers that Gotham needs a hero; a guardian. A Watchtower. And when Oliver Queen (Justin Hartley) shows up, informing her of Dr. Emil Hamilton's (Alessandro Juliani) return, all hell breaks loose. With his plans of building a lethal army of superpowered humans, Chloe finds herself in the thick of it; engaging in a war she is not fit to fight. With the help of her friends, can she take down the DDS and one of the most gifted minds of this world? Or will she crumble to her demise, and be remembered for nothing more than a legends' sidekick? Christian Bale also stars as Bruce Wayne.
It has been revealed that the Network has purchased a 12 episode season for each shows; but as I dig deeper into this news, I discovered that something is going on behind the scenes for a possible TV Movie. Whether or not this is a rumor or a major spoiler, I do not know, but its something to look forward to. When I caught up with the forum's executives, they spoke very fondly of their two new shows. "They go so well together, and its a perfect time to establish these two characters furthermore and develop them to such a degree that they were first brought out for," they began, "I see a good future for these amazing shows."
In other news, I'm glad to say that Faith the Vampire Slayer will be returning back on schedule with its sixth episode "Secret". And in two more weeks Angel's last season will be back on track. Though there were some breaks throughout its course, the mid season finale will still be followed with a break that will have the shows returning to complete their season in Late March, or an early April. More news will be revealed.
On the topic of new shows being picked up, we asked Network Executives, Chris Davis, and Jack Malone, which shows do they see/want in the Fall of 2010. And they had this to say:
Chris: The network is turning towards more original, fresh ideas, and although the shows we have now are very much original, I'm talking in a different sense, like "new". So, I'd have to say I've had my eyes on Watchdogs, which looks very refreshing. I can't wait to see what will be done with this. I'm also intrigued by the pitch Special Projects Department, that seems pretty darn cool too. One of the more compelling continuations of the network would have to be Megan's charmed, but we're still awaiting a pilot.
Jack: At the moment, Watchdogs is at the top of my list. I'm still trying to find the time to read the pilot, although I love the concept and am really excited to see if this can become a huge hit on this network. Another I see a definate possibility of coming to the network would have to be the continuation of Charmed. The others on there are still good, although with Bludhaven, I think we all have mixed feelings on it, and whether now is the right time or not, and I think the Protectors. I think Brian is great at coming up with a series' concept. But its all based on the pilot with his stuff. I can see it airing on the VPN, based on the pitch, but like I said, the pilot is everything.
My name is Trish Morgan, and I hope you have a good night.
