EXCLUSIVE: "The Path" Creator Gives Us "101 Ways To Survive High School" In New Comedy!
VSGUIDE is pleased to announce the commission of comedy series, 101 WAYS TO SURVIVE HIGH SCHOOL
The VPN is developing the new comedy series from "The Path Not Taken" creator BRIAN MELANSON. The network has ordered a total of twelve half-hour episodes for its first season.
Read the official synopsis below:
In regards to the commission, series creator Brian Melanson said, "I was seriously shocked that people actually took a liking to it! I was afraid the comedy was too much, or there wasn't enough for the characters. But after seeing the reactions just from the pilot, I was seriously so happy people took a liking to it. The idea of the High School Comedy/Drama, has been in my head for years now, but now that it's finally coming out in this amazing idea, I cannot wait for everyone to see what I have in store for Hayley and the students of Serenity High. It's just one crazy long story that I cannot wait to tell."
He also went on to say, "What you can expect from this season is the theme of "Finding Yourself". Each of the Drama students has a purpose for joining the Drama Club and almost all of them will get a backstory for those reasons. There is also romance that springs between some characters, and there is also crazy events that happen in the season such as a Fall Festival that "falls" apart, and a Haunted House. And expect some musical moments, it won't be every episode, but it's fun to have a singing moment, here and there."
101 WAYS TO SURVIVE HIGH SCHOOL will air exclusively on The VPN. Keep your eyes peeled for more details series' launch; and get ready for even more announcements coming up!

EXCLUSIVE: The Path Not Taken Reboot In The Works! As you might have guessed from the VSGuide Weekly Interview Package released last week, 'The Path Not Taken' has joined the growing list of VPN shows (Trinity, The Void) to be developing reboots this year! With the first season of twelve episodes wrapping in 2011, and season two being stalled for the better half of two years, executive producer and showrunner, Brian Melanson has decided to end his original story and begin anew! When asked what his reasoning behind rebooting the series was, Melanson replied, "When I started season two of the show, writing the scripts wasn't as fun as I wanted it to be. To me it felt a little to unrealistic in the sense of what I was going for. The messages I wanted to get across were covered up by cheesy lines." Melanson went on to say - "With this reboot, and having a new fresh mind help take it on with me, I feel just as excited as I did before because now, we have planned so that the show is no longer just Jenny Centric. It focuses on life, and the characters are the stories. Each one of them has a story and that is what Jay and I are most excited about! We suspect, with a more character driven format, the writers of the series can finally begin to tell the stories they really want to tell! The rebooted cast features returning actress and female lead, Nina Dobrev, as well as fresh faces - Zach Roerig, Jennifer Lawrence, Jenna Coleman and Chris Zylka. The series will be led by Brian Melanson (The Path Not Taken) and Jay Paterson (Winchester), both serving as co-executive producers and writers. Although an official air date is yet to be determined by the network, producers reveal they are hoping for either a Spring or Summer 2014 premiere.

"The Void" Showrunner Steps Down! Series To Be Reworked! After months of inactivity, "The Void," a horror anthology series from Land of the Living Dead co-creator, Carey Broadbent, has been canceled. The series would have told different stories each week, and focus on a range of genres from horror and fantasy, to even science fiction. However, this is not the end. As Broadbent steps down as showrunner, the reigns have been given to Chris Davis (Hellbound, Trinity) who plans to bring a "new format and style" to the series. While remaining an anthology series, instead of telling new stories episode-to-episode, each season will act as a self-contained miniseries, much like the FX hit, "American Horror Story." Producers confirm that early production of season one, which has officially been titled "The Void: Sanctum," has already begun and we can expect the season to run for a total of six episodes. Set in 1925, The Void: Sanctum follows a group of students and teachers at the Sanctum Rose Academy; a church turned co-ed boarding school with a haunting past. As the series opens in the first year that female students are being accepted, a young girl joins her older brother at the academy, but is unaware of the physical, and psychological torment lying in her wait, as she becomes the target of a vengeful group of spirits dating back over half a century. Producers confirm The Void: Sanctum will have strong elements of possession, ritual sacrifice, satanism and other religious undertones. While the series is set in a haunted boarding school, whether the threat is actually a paranormal one is unknown. The cast, so far, includes Max Irons, Chloe Grace Moretz, Sean Bean, Kenneth Branagh, Steven Mackintosh, Bill Nighy and Maggie Smith. The Void: Sanctum has been slated for a 2014 release with Chris Davis, Amin Caluk, and Carey Broadbent serving as executive producers and/or writers.

The network is thrilled to announce VSGuide Weekly, a Q&A project where VPN showrunners come together to answer questions from YOU, the readers! The project is currently in a trial period, but here's how it'll work; We've set up an account on Ask.fm [CLICK HERE TO VISIT VSGuide's PAGE] which will serve as the hub for all of your questions. You may ask questions regarding any show on theVPN's lineup, whether the show has already aired or not. Questions will be taken and organized by the day the series is scheduled for on the network. For example; questions about "Watchtower" are to be asked on Mondays, whereas questions relating to "Audition" should be asked on Thursdays. There will be an announcement, here on the forum, as well as on our Twitter, making a call for questions and the series' those questions should pertain to. If you go against the schedule, don't worry, your questions will still be answered; This is only to make it a little more organized. This process may change during or after the test period is complete. At the end of the week (most likely Saturday) all questions will be answered and wrapped up in a neat article for all to read! Today is Saturday, so questions can officially begin tomorrow, and according to VPN's schedule, we will be taking questions regarding Tom East's dramedy, " Easy!" Below is the current VPN schedule, if you need a reference: Note: The success of this first round of VSGuide Weekly will determine whether or not this project will go ahead as planned, or be downsized to operate every other week, if not once a month; and in the worst case scenario, the project will be shelved indefinitely. The only way that will happen is if we don't receive any questions all week. And I'm sure at least a few showrunners will ask questions about their own shows at some point, which is completely acceptable, by the way! So, get your questions ready! First round begins tomorrow!

EXCLUSIVE: Hellbound Producers Talk Arc Two! "Hellbound," the supernatural drama webisode series wrapped up its very first arc in February 2013, however the series still has a total of six more episodes to release before the end of its first sequence. Arc one dealt with 230 year old human/vampire hybrid, James Bryson, and former police detective "Alyson Faye," along with characters like Adam Murdock, James' morally ambiguous 'sire,' and Alyson's former police "Chief Fisher," who desperately wants her behind bars. Executive producers, Chris Davis and Jack D. Malone were able to confirm a few rumors and give a few new insights into the later half of sequence one, as well hints for sequence two! When asked how much time will have passed between the end of arc one and the beginning of arc two, Chris Davis said, "Not much time at all. This series will continue to move very quickly, with each passing episode serving as a direct continuation of the previous installment. I think given the format of the show and the actual story we're trying to tell, this is the only way it can work. Not to say that once we move forward, we'll never skip ahead a few days, weeks, or even months, in time." The end of arc one saw James being held captive by the Order and the newly introduced, "Queen," while Alyson has been captured by the Chicago Police Department. When asked how these characters will get out of this situation and find their way back to one another, executive producer, Jack D. Malone, replied, "The second string of episodes in sequence one will focus on our characters becoming "outlaws." Both James and Alyson are beginning questioned by a higher power who want them put away, and their lives are about to get a whole lot more complicated as a result." "James spends most of his time, especially in the first half of arc two, with Adam, while Alyson is more off on her own, trying to find her way out of the mess she's gotten into. I think the decision to separate James and Alyson for a heavy chunk of the sequence was made to establish the connection between them, and their need to find their way back to one another; not so much giving their relationship romantic context, but rather setting up a stronger bond and connection we've yet to fully put in motion on the show," executive producer Chris Davis tells us. When asked about the newest character to join the lineup, the mystery Vampire Queen, portrayed by Kate Beckinsale, Jack Malone replied, "The Queen was a fun character to come up with. We find out a lot about vampire mythology in the world of our show through her character, as well as the motivations of The Order in wanting to capture James." Malone went on to say, "there's so much history still left to introduce involving James' time with the Order, the woman he is searching for, as well as his connection to Alyson, so we're very much looking forward to wrapping up sequence one and giving you all the answers to some of those questions." Production is moving forward and producers have expressed their hope for an August - September release date. With six more episodes remaining of sequence one, and already making plans for more sequences, we should be getting more frequent updates on the shows status in the coming weeks.

THE VPN JUNE 2013 A lot has happened in the past two months for theVPN! In the past two months, our lineup has increased by three: Buffy the Vampire Slayer by writer “Informant,” which is set to air its eight season in syndication early this month; there’s also Metropolis: Special Crimes Unit, a series following the police force, and weird happenings, in Metropolis, which comes from Alex Matthews. M:SCU is said to incorporate itself between the already established DC Universe on theVPN. And lastly, Gangland, an original crime/mystery series from executive producers Chris Davis and Amin Caluk! Gangland is set in a not-too-distant future where all criminals are forced by a corrupt government to fend for themselves on a remote, and deadly island. We’re looking forward to all three series! Also, Trinity, one of theVPN’s first shows, following Lana Lang from Smallville, has recently been rebooted by executive producers Chris Davis and Karl Hurd. In this form of the series, we follow Lana Lang four years after leaving her life in Smallville behind, and after spending that time traveling the world in an attempt to make the world a safer place by using the Prometheus Suit, she decides to take up residence in the dark, crime ridden city of Odyssey. The rebooted series is looking for a late 2013/early 2014 release date. Now, regarding other shows, Easy, created by Tom East, premieres its pilot episode on June 2nd! And also, Winchester, created by Chris Davis and Matthew James, is set to air its second season sometime in the next two months. And The Super Teens, created by Brady Brown, returned and should air uninterrupted for the remainder of its episodes. So there you have it folks, the latest news regarding theVPN! Make sure to catch up on your favorite shows, and leave some love for the new ones! And check back next month for even more updates!
