EXCLUSIVE: The Path Not Taken Reboot In The Works!
As you might have guessed from the VSGuide Weekly Interview Package released last week, 'The Path Not Taken' has joined the growing list of VPN shows (Trinity, The Void) to be developing reboots this year! With the first season of twelve episodes wrapping in 2011, and season two being stalled for the better half of two years, executive producer and showrunner, Brian Melanson has decided to end his original story and begin anew!
When asked what his reasoning behind rebooting the series was, Melanson replied, "When I started season two of the show, writing the scripts wasn't as fun as I wanted it to be. To me it felt a little to unrealistic in the sense of what I was going for. The messages I wanted to get across were covered up by cheesy lines."
Melanson went on to say - "With this reboot, and having a new fresh mind help take it on with me, I feel just as excited as I did before because now, we have planned so that the show is no longer just Jenny Centric. It focuses on life, and the characters are the stories. Each one of them has a story and that is what Jay and I are most excited about! We suspect, with a more character driven format, the writers of the series can finally begin to tell the stories they really want to tell!
The rebooted cast features returning actress and female lead, Nina Dobrev, as well as fresh faces - Zach Roerig, Jennifer Lawrence, Jenna Coleman and Chris Zylka. The series will be led by Brian Melanson (The Path Not Taken) and Jay Paterson (Winchester), both serving as co-executive producers and writers.
Although an official air date is yet to be determined by the network, producers reveal they are hoping for either a Spring or Summer 2014 premiere.
