EXCLUSIVE: DROPOUTS, BIONIC, AND ENUMA ELISH HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE GREENLIGHT!
We're extremely excited to announce that theVPN has added three new projects to their lineup: DROPOUTS, a comedy/drama created by JAY PATERSON; BIONIC, an action thriller created by R.A. PICKING; and ENUMA ELISH, a sci fi drama created by JON VAN PELT. 'Dropouts' and 'Bionic' have been given a full webisode season order, while 'Enuma Elish' will operate as an hour-long drama. Check out the synposis for each new series down below:
DROPOUTS:
During his wild spring break, college sophomore, Dylan Maxwell (Joe Dinicol) leaves the Dean an outrageous voicemail, which results in his scholarship being revoked. Now Dylan has to move back in with his kooky and overly protective parents (Kathy Najimy & Jason Alexander), in his hometown of, Lexington, Idaho. There he reconnects with old friends, Riff (Jeremy Allen White) and Leila (Inbar Lavi) as well as make new ones along the way, all while trying to figure out what his next step is as a college dropout.
BIONIC:
A year after the tragic incident that destroyed JUSTIN CARTER's (Dylan O'Brien) life, he finds himself dealing with scattered memories of the night in question, among other things. Justin, with the help of his skilled hacker, best friend, CODY BAKER (Logan Lerman) and his team, must bring down Biotech Industries CEO, DEACON BANE (...), whose lust for power overshadows any human decency. Can Justin and the gang foil Deacon's plans or is the world destined to be subjected to another one of Deacon's experiments?
ENUMA ELISH:
Earth. The year is 2560.
The Great Cataclysm is nothing more but a vague memory. Only 3 billion humans survived a series of natural catastrophes which scorched the planet some 500 years ago. A second Dark Age left modern society in ruins. But on these ruins a new world order found its roots.
Nations vaporized, replaced by City States and Free Lands.
The Directorate coordinates the policies of each individual City. The goal: the survival of the Human race and the rebirth of Earth. Their policy leaves no room for individual freedom. People serve the survival of the race. By any means necessary.
In stark contrast: the Free Lands. A place where one can still choose their own destiny. But that freedom comes at a price. Life is hard out there. Antiquated technology, failed harvests starving the population, no healthcare system...
In order to survive, Citizens no longer look down to the Earth, but upwards to the stars. After 150 years of travelling into space at the slow stride of light speed, a new propulsion system ushers in a new era of space travel. It is called the “Dark Matter Engine” (DME). It enables us to create a rift in the fabric of space which makes it possible to jump 10 light years in one trip.
We will follow the crew the ENUMA ELISH, the first ship equipped with DME-drive, as they start their one year mission to find new habitable worlds to colonize. But what will they find out there?

Following the announcement of his first pickup, Paterson said "It's been overwhelming reading all of the positive feedback from the pilot. The comedies on theVPN have been thriving these past couple of years so when I was told that "Dropouts" would be added to that line up I was both ecstatic and honoured." And to give a little hint about what to expect from his new webisode, he went on with "Dropouts is a lot about the family we choose; our friends. It celebrates our uniqueness and the differences we bring to the table. I feel like this show will be very relatable to audiences. We all make mistakes, some more regrettable than other and its safe to say that these characters make a lot of them. Expect a lot of laughter, drama and tears as they all try to overcome their mistakes and make the best of what they've got"
To give a little taste on what's to come in the first sequence of his new show, Picking had this to say, "The audience can expect an action packed story discovering the truth behind Bionic and the journey of taking down a sinister enemy."
And finally, Van Pelt had this to say about having his sci fi drama added to the ever-growing lineup, "I’m truly excited and honored to get the opportunity to produce the first season of ENUMA ELISH here at VPN. I think this series fits perfectly in the sci-fi line-up we have here at VPN, with other genre shows like REALITY and SYNTHESIS. Work on season 1 is already underway. We will get more glimpses of this new futuristic world as well as an introduction to the team that will join the mission of the ENUMA ELISH. There will be drama, battles, chaos… Expect it all!”
