In the midst of the New Year, theVPN will be bringing in some fresh, new features onto the network, as well as reintegrating a few cool ideas from previous VPN years.
One of the many new features, is a full capacity home web site, updated with all series' currently in the lineup, which will act as an official hub for the network, outside of this forum. The website in question will also be connected to a blog for VSGuide, for exclusive scoops and information on anything and everything VS'.
For the year "2012," the executive goal is to make the network a more organized, and established place to host webseries', as we attempt to improve the community outlet we've been working to create. Changes and improvements need to occur in order to ensure that next year, and all years after, will run as smoothly as possible. In light of that, a new system will be implemented for the Virtual Media Affairs (Series/Movies). A complete guide of this new system will be explained, in detail, in the following month, and will be established at the beginning of next year. No major changes will occur, but the pitching/pick up process will have become more organized, hopefully, as well as fair.
A few more points I would like to touch on, in regards to upcoming features of the New Year, are as follows;
- theVPN will be reintegrating an old perk seen at our first two boards: VPN Magazine! Starting next month, network will be producing monthly issues of the web based magazine, fully equipped with insider information regarding your favorite shows, hot topics among the board, as well as exclusive interviews will VPN staff, and other select information. The magazine will also have it's own innovative design, currently being formalized by network executives.
- 'Itty-Bitty' Scripts! As some may have heard, the network is now accepting webisode series to be pitched for showing in our lineup. A webisode is a shorter script (usually around 10-12 pages in length, though it varies), which acts in, more or less, the same way a regular virtual series does, but is shown in short sequences for each overarching plot. A webisode series is also a great way for new writers, looking to gain experience, to do just that. If you believe you need a little more practice, before you become able to run a full series, webisodes are a great outlet for you, but just know that it is not limited to new writers! Any and all of you cool kids are welcome to participate in Webisode production. Rules & Guidelines for pitching a webisode will be made clear in the coming month.
- The Admin Team. As 2012 approaches, theVPN will begin its search for new leadership, in specific areas of the network. Yes, an updated team of admins is being formed, which we hope will help the forum run as a whole. It will also provide the current team assistance in running the day to day operations of the board, as new blood take up crucial roles on the network. Currently, the networks Administrative Team includes; Chris Davis (Head Executive), Jack Malone (Vice Executive), Jason Davis (Network Director), and Brian Melanson (Forum Director). A new system is being implemented that will provide specific responsibilities to the existing admins, as well as make room for new ones come in and take a part in establishing the network. Again, specific details will be brought into light next year.
- I NEED HELP! Among the latest of the new features being brought to the network, the "Help Center," or HC for short, is one of the most beneficial, to both new and established writers. Moderators of The Help Center will be posting helpful guides, hints and more useful information about scriptwriting, and all that goes along with it (film/television production, editing, ect...) To be pulled from the latest screenwriting blogs, as well as written by the moderators themselves, the information to be provided within the Help Center is geared toward helping writers establish their own unique style and voice, both on and off the page. Along with these helpful posts, a Q&A based program will be implemented that will allow HC followers to be in charge of exactly what is touched on by HC contributors, connecting the writers, new and old, unlike any other way this board has seen before.
And there you have our 2012 Pre-Plan; the initial mission statement for the new year. Updating will continue through the month, and more posts like this will be brought to the public, in light of more in depth explanations, and quite possibly, more updates all together! Thanks for your time, and have a wonderful holiday!
