We all watch them. Some of us love them, others tolerate them because their friends love them. What are your favorites? And what are your... not favorites?
Favorite "Type" of Horror
- "Ghost Movies" - Psychological (which often seems to mix with the first type) - Well-made Slashers (<Hahaha, see what I did there?)
Favorite Horror Movies
- Insidious - The Grudge 2 - The Grudge
Least Favorite Horror Movies
- Prom Night (It's not even laughable...) - Paranormal Activity (HIGHLY overrated...) - House of Wax (Everything I hate in today's Slasher Movies in one Movie... Great...)
Feel free to add anything you want. (:

I LOVE horror films, even though the current ones are mostly trash.
Favorite Type of Horror - Possession/Spirits - Mind bending, Psychological - Like above, the "well-made" Slashers, because there aren't many.
Favorite Horror Films - The Exorcist - Hostel, Part 1 - The Omen - Bug - Wrong Turn - Silent Hill
Least Favorite - Slither - Paranormal Activity - Cloverfield - The Blair Witch Project - Monsters
I dislike horror films that attempt to be "ominous" and "suspenseful" by holding back certain aspects of the movie, such as the actual "face" of the monster, persay. Some films are succesful when doing that, but others just fall flat, making the entire experience a waste of time, and effort when it comes to those who produced the film. That really bugs me.
Other than those "special" movies, I'm a big fan of the genre.
EDIT: Movies such as "Prom Night," "Piranha," etc... I don't even consider to be horror. They're just a sorry excuse for the genre.

^I personally think it's important to show glimpses of said monster throughout the movie, eg. if you pause you CAN see the monster (prime example: Alien), you just don't see it very clearly until the end/towards the end. However, not showing the monster at all until the end... that I usually consider a waste of time.

I might as well jump on the bandwagon and get mine out too XD
Favorite "Type" of Horror - Psychological - Ghost/Spirit/Possession - Slashers that don't suck (haha AC XD)
Favorite Horror Movies - The Grudge - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the remake, the one with Jessica Biel) - The Ring - SAW (the first three only) - The Scream series
Least Favorite Horror Movies - Nightmare On Elm Street (never been a fan) - Friday the 13th (also, never been a fan) - Prom Night - When A Stranger Calls
I won't say that I HATE slashers, because I don't and I do tend to watch them XD But I only truly enjoy them if they aren't awful.

I've seen only a couple of Horror movies during my time so this list won't be the most comprehensive.
Favorite "Type" of Horror Mind bending, Psychological
Favorite Horror Movies - 1408 - Silent Hill - Poltergeist - My Bloody Valentine - Dead Snow (It's fun)
Least Favorite Horror Movies
- Friday The Thirteenth (Remake) - A Nightmare on Elm Street (Remake) - The Haunting (Remake)
I personally like movies that are "ominous" and "suspenseful". Earlier seasons of Supernatural followed that, as the monster was barely ever seen. The less you see, the more your imagination wonders and the more frightening the monster/killer is. Its practically essential in Silent Hill and the games. Without the mystery of the town and whatever is up with it, there would be no true fear like there is right now.

^Oooh, yes, I saw that one a while ago. I love how it starts so typically with a couple of teens going to a cabin, some strange guy talking to them... and then you get THAT. Some weird forcefield around the whole place and stuff.

^^That trailer looks awesome. Is that a remake of an old movie or a completely new film? You can never tell nowadays with horror movies.
Also, to add to the discussion, who has seen the movie Identity? In my opinion it is one of the best psychological/thriller horror movies.

I think it's an original film, but I haven't done enough research to make sure.
No, haven't seen Identity, but I'll be sure to look it up one of these days. Good, mind bending horror films are pretty hard to find nowadays.

I got to see "The Woman in Black" last weekend. It wasn't too bad. It definitely got one or two jumps out of me, but most of those moments were pretty obvious. The acting, writing and direction were all pretty decent. An average film.

Movie Review!(Warning: Do not open this review if you do not wish to be spoiled.) I hated slasher films. I never before thought that a slasher movie could be one of the following, let alone all; good, surprising, or original. That was before I saw "The Cabin in the Woods," which proves that Hollywood and the horror genre is not completely dead. However, we don't see horror movies like this one that often, which is a real shame.
Anyway, before getting to my review, here's the Cabin in the Woods plot, in a Chris Davis nutshell: Five friends go to a cabin retreat in the woods, but soon find out they're being stalked by the undead. However, they discover their environment is being controlled and altered by a higher power, making them a part of a ritual sacrifice to the "Ancient Ones" who needs five, sometimes four, souls in order to keep them from destroying the world. Definitely not your average slasher film.
The scenes in the woods, with our five main protagonists, are the weaker parts of the film. Not that the slasher aspect wasn't interesting, but I spent most of my time trying to figure out what the hell was going on on the other side, and why they were doing the things that they were doing.
Also, the main protagonists, besides Fran Kranz pothead character, weren't all that interesting to me. They seemed like the type of group that would go to a cabin in the woods and get slashed up. But, nevertheless, the movie was able to keep me entertained all the way through.
The "organization" sort of felt like Wolfram and Hart, which is great for Angel fans. Plus, the movie had mixed genres of horror, suspense and comedy, successfully making this a true hybrid film. What I believe makes this movie so good, is the satire. The writers made Cabin in the Woods to ask many different questions.
"Why are people in horror movies so stupid?" "What makes splitting up a good idea?" "Why do we, as fans of the horror genre, enjoy watching other people suffer?"
Technically, I found nothing in this movie "scary," which I think was kind of the point. The comedy, and scenes back in the control room are what makes this film work. And when shit hits the fan, it REALLY hits the fan. They hold nothing back, and because of the circumstances, you wouldn't want it any other way. Karma is a bitch, I'll just say that. I don't want to get too much more into this review, because I think you should just watch the movie yourself, but The Cabin in the Woods was a pleasure to watch, and it's something I'd watch again. So, I'm giving it a 9 out of 10. The writing was great. I could tell when a certain piece of dialogue was written by Joss Whedon, and though some of the characters fell flat, the majority of them were interesting to follow. The plot was original and strong enough to make up for it, and the comical side of the film was ace! Go watch this film. It's worth it!

^ Nice review. I saw the movie earlier today, and one thing it did was made me laugh. Great film, that makes fun of and takes time to appreciate pretty much every single horror film in existence.

^^ Went and saw it last night. It definitely wasn't what I was expecting, but I came out of the theatre feeling quite satisfied. Excellent movie! Very witty and gory. I give it a 9 / 10.

Did anyone see Chernobyl Diaries? I watched it with a couple of friends last night and it was an interesting movie. I enjoyed the concept, but I think the ending was kind of rushed. Not as scary as I would have liked, but definitely an enjoyable movie in my opinion.

My ★★ review of "Silent House" Started kind of slow, but when it finally got going, I got excited. But then, soon after, found myself bored again. The acting from Elizabeth Olsen wasn't bad. I think she did pretty damn well, actually. But the story was way too predictable, and even by the end, with all that psychological, crazy stuff happening, instead of feeling blown away and shocked, I was just irritated, confused, and counting down the seconds until the end of this movie. letterboxd.com/chrisdavis90/film/silent-house/
