Confirmed: theVPN Greenlights " The Path" Season 2! After the first season concluded with a set of mixed reviews, theVPN has just ordered another 12-13 episode round of the young adult drama, "The Path Not Taken," from Brian Melanson, for Fall 2012. The Path Not Taken held an average rating of 6.5 for its first year, and after an advanced screening of season two's premiere episode, the Pick-up committee has decided to give producers the go ahead to resume production of season two. VPN's vice executive, Jack Malone, had this to say about the script, "Whilst I had many problems with the first season, its a new year, and its a new season, and dare I say, it feels like a new show." He also added, "This is probably my favourite episode of the Path Not Taken... there was so much promising drama and exciting moments!" In its sophomore year, "The Path Not Taken" welcomes a new addition to the production crew, as Monica Ann steps in as executive producer, and script editor. "I believe the show's performance can only improve with an extra head in the mix," said VPN chief executive, Chris Davis. Don't forget to congratulate the producers of "The Path Not Taken," as it remains the most successful drama series, ever to be picked up by the network.

Exclusive: 'Ask the Producers' Round Two! Our fantastic, 'Ask the Producers' piece is back for an all new round of questions and answers, satisfying the needs of those readers out there that are dying to know what's about to happen on their upcoming favourite shows. Lets begin, shall we? I'm so excited that Lex Luthor will return to Trinity this season! His reveal in the season finale was epic! How many episodes might we see him back for? While I've been told that Michael Rosenbaum has been contracted for a multi-episode arc, the producers tell VSGuide that you may see him around for at least 6 episodes, peppered throughout the entire season. "He plays a huge role this season, and he's definitely got a lot of stuff up his sleeve. I think fans will enjoy what we've got in store for Lex Luthor's return." Does Rachel know Lana's identity on "Trinity" or is it something that she'll have to uncover as the season progresses? That's a good question! "There's an episode in the first run of the season that tackles that," executive producer and creator Chris Davis told VSGuide, "Rachel is caught in the middle of this tragic situation that Lana has to try and save her from without revealing who she truly is. Its a really great episode, and its really fun to see how Lana pulls it all off." As for whether Rachel will eventually find out, and possibly, vice versa? "Stay tuned." Finally! I've been waiting for a Marvel show to hit theVPN! Can you tell me what other characters we'll see in the Outcasts first season? Pleeeeaasssee! Well, seeing as you asked so nicely ... Producers have confirmed that Bryce Dallas Howard has landed the role of "Gwen Stacy" for an upcoming episode of the Outcasts. "Gwen will be introduced ... somewhere along the way in our first season," series creator Aimee Nicole told VSGuide, reluctant to tell us exactly when the character will be making her debut on the show. "I can say that she's the school news reporter and one of Melanie's classmates." What can we look forward to in the first half of the Outcasts? Producers tell VSGuide that an "iconic villain" will be introduced during the mid-season finale, "Legacy." Any guesses? I hear the Protectors is airing soon! Any good beans to spill? "We're currently shooting the fifth episode of the season, and its a big one," Brian Melanson - series creator - tells VSGuide. "The Protectors travel back in time to the year 2080, and it all ties into playing a key role in protecting and saving Earth." Oh, and if that's not all, Melanson tells us that in an upcoming episode titled "Vixens," the Protectors have to get a little ... "sexy." Excited? I sure am! I'm really worried about the big death on Watchtower. Can you narrow it down for us? An inside source tells VSGuide that its more than likely Selina Kyle who will be taking a dirt nap in the first run of episodes. "The big death takes place in the season's seventh episode, right before it goes on its hiatus," the source tells us, "And the following episode looks like its about the birth of Catwoman, so, put one and two together and ..." When approaching the producers, they were reluctant to answer: "I think you'll all be surprised." From what we know, the only characters in risk of dying are: Oliver, Helena, and Selina - thanks to our asterix game last round! Please tell me that the producers aren't forgetting about Oliver wanting to propose to Chloe last season. Apparently they're taking a step forward in "Knight" but I haven't heard about the engagement since last year. Please give me some good news!Which do you want first, the good news or the bad news? Well, the good news is, Producers tell me that the step forward really solidifies their relationship and brings them closer together. The bad news? Its not an engagement. "You will see that addressed, a lot, in the first half of the season. Although Oliver is ready, there's a few obstacles to overcome before he can pop the question, and its going to take some time." But don't fret: "We're going to keep you on the edge of your seat for a while before anything happens." Did they just confirm that Oliver will propose? I'm really excited about the season finale of the Path Not Taken. Can you scoop me anything? Brian Melanson - series creator of the Path Not Taken - tells VSGuide: "The season will definitely end with a bang, and the dynamic of Jenny's relationship with Henry will change." We've also been told that as the season progresses towards its conclusion, Jenny will mature and have a revelation that solidifies her identity as a strong, adult woman. "She's going to come around after a season long struggle. Its been a hard journey for her, but redeeming her not-so-beautiful qualities is on the horizon, and I think fans will enjoy the result." Check back later this week for news on upcoming VPN shows 'Archangel,' 'Edge of Vision' and returning drama series 'Winchester.'

NEWS POSTED MARCH 13, 2011SCOOP: Fallen Angels crash land to theVPN!Earlier this evening, VPToday received the word from vice executive, Jack Malone, that "Archangel", a supernatural horror series following the epic war between Angels and Demons from the underworld, has just been picked up! Young showrunner, Jason T. Davis, was shocked after hearing the news. This is what he had to say, "I just can't believe it. I've been working on this project for so long and it's finally gotten the green light...it feels so unreal. A thanks goes out to the network for giving me this opportunity." The series follows the journey of two archangels, sent by The Creator, to purge the Earth of demonic beings who have recently taken over the planet. The star studded cast includes, Andy Whitfield (Gabriel, Spartacus: Blood & Sand), and Rhona Mitra (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, The Gates), who play the archangels, Michael and Gabriel. To learn more about the series, visit the "ARCHANGEL" board, for upcoming speculation.

Exclusive: Ask the Producers! Welcome to VSGuide's exclusive 'Ask the Producers' piece, where we answer your questions to the producers, and scoop your favourite shows on the VPN. After approaching the writers and producers, here's the latest news and upcoming episode spoilers on your favourite shows. Jenny has been through a lot since the start of the Path. When can we expect some of her pain to ease? From being hit by a car, to facing the ghosts of her past, this is only the beginning for Jenny, but is there a light at the end of the tunnel for this young woman? Executive Producer, and creator, Brian Melanson tells VSGuide: "You'll see a lighter side to Jenny in the back half of the season, especially when she finally finds love." Well, some say laughter is the best medicine, but maybe a little romance is even better. Dying for some news on The Path. What have you got? Jenny's past continues to her haunt her when Brad shows up again in the second half of the season. And producers promise a very climactic confrontation between Jenny and Brad that has a surprising twist. "You'll never expect how it all goes down." I'm a huge fan of good girl/bad boy relationships and Edge of Vision looks like a good candidate for having one between Tori and Vincent. Can we expect something between those two? Series Creator, MJ tells VSGuide the cards are on the table, but whether they are dealt, is the question. "I can't say the thought hasn't crossed my mind," she teases. "There is a lot more to their cat and mouse relationship than meets the eye, and whether something blossums out of that or not, you'll have to wait and see." So excited that Trinity was renewed! What can we expect in its second season on the VPN? Two words for you: Lex. Luthor. I can't believe they left us hanging like that! Are Lana and Quentin really a couple now or will they take it all away from us when the next season starts up? Lana and Quentin (Quana) are definately together. Producers of the Monday Night action series tells VSGuide that their relationship will be studied closer next season, and we couldn't be more excited! "They've been friends for a long time, so the adjustment period may be a bit hard for them, but their attraction to one another is stronger than anything they've felt in a really long time." However, I'm hearing that Quentin's past may become quite an obstacle for the couple to overcome. "Quentin has a lot of demons to deal with, and it can get in the way of his relationship with Lana." Is it true that someone on Watchtower is going to die in the first seven episodes of season two? Yes. However, I'm told there's a bit of a twist to the upcoming death on Watchtower. Here's your first clue: They're a series regular, and their first name is ******. I'm so glad that Eliza Dushku joined the cast as Selina Kyle this season, but I hope that means we get to see Catwoman. It would sort of suck if we didn't. Eliza Dushku playing a fiesty reporter with a dark past isn't good enough? Obviously not, because the producers of the VPN's hit show 'Watchtower' told VSGuide earlier today that you'll definately see Catwoman this season. "There are a lot of versions of the character and her persona, so we've taken what is out there and made our own version of her origin," they explain, "but its important Selina, as a character, is developed prior to introducing this other side of her." The producers conclude in telling us that Selina's origins unwravel in the first run of episodes, before you'll see her don the catsuit. "It'll be worth the wait." When is the Protectors going to air? For the VPN's first Sci-Fi show, I'm excited to tune in! Series Creator, Brian Melanson, has recently revealed that they're looking for a May release. "We'll be airing the first five episodes before the show goes on hiatus." He also reveals to look for a major death before the show wraps its first season. "A lot goes down on the Protectors and I'm excited for it to start up this year." [Note: The VSGuide Site will take longer to kickstart than we thought, until then, all articles can be found here, in the VPtoday section.]

Just In: Changes to the Network After a press release this morning, Chief Network Executive, Chris Davis has revealed several changes to the VPN's lineup, removing many of its anticipated upcoming series. Due to this sudden change, shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the DIU, and Story of a Girl will no longer be airing this fall on the network. "Contact with the producers and showrunners have left us to make a difficult decision," Davis told VPtoday, "and Jack [Malone] has requested to take his other shows off the lineup while he focuses on his notable hit, Watchtower." No longer on the schedule are: - Buffy the Vampire Slayer - A Virtual Continuation of the hit WB/UPN series created by Joss Whedon.
- The DIU - A Supernatural/Crime series created, and written by Matthew James (Connor).
- Fabulous Cordy - A spin off of the cult series 'Angel' created by Nicole Rodriquez, following the life of Cordelia Chase.
- Connor - A previously cancelled series, created by Matthew James, that followed the life of Connor, Angel's son.
- Winchester - A drama series based on the lives of many college students who attended Winchester University. Created by Chris Davis and Matthew James.
- Story of a Girl - Another drama series, created by Jack Malone, starring Kristen Bell as "Sam Cassiday."
- X-Men: Legends - A series based on the X-Men, a group of mutants featured in their own comic book series produced by Marvel Comics.
Although removed from the lineup, the Network is lenient in rebooting these failed shows, and hopes to hear from these writers again. "The lineup needed to be cleaned up, especially when many of these shows weren't ready to be aired this year, and were constantly being held back," Vice Executive, Jack Malone claimed. "Some of these shows you may see come back, but until we get an official update on these from the writers/producers, we have to make room for more shows." The Network is currently looking for new shows to complete their lineup. Expected to air this year, are: TRINITYExecutive Producer and creator, Chris Davis tells VPtoday: "The show will be back this year with its final episode of the season, and we're currently working on the story for season two, which we'll be pitching to the Network soon enough." Expect to see a climactic confrontation between Lana and Amanda in this year's finale, with the return of ... Lex Luthor! WATCHTOWERExpected to return this March with a brand new season. "You can expect to see Bruce Wayne step into his role of the Dark Knight, the introduction of DC Comics Selina Kyle, and the epic romance between Chloe and Oliver getting an unexpected twist!" Jack Malone promises a darker, edgier season, featuring new and exciting DC Comic Villains, and the return of the entire Justice League! THE PATH NOT TAKENReturning to complete its first season, Brian Melanson promises some new twists and turns, including a love interest for Jenny. "Also, Brad will be returning in upcoming episodes, and the climax of his story with Jenny will end in death for one of them," Melanson teases. Don't miss out! EDGE OF VISIONThe VPN's newest addition to the linup, Edge of Vision is a Supernatural/Crime series starring Zoey Deschannel as "Tori." Dealing with eery cases, you'll learn that out of sight is no longer out of mind. Coming this fall on the VPN! THE PROTECTORSThe VPN's first Science Fiction series sends us out to space in the fight for human survival! Battling unknown species and races, these remaining humans are Earth's last hope. Be sure to check out the VPN's first ever Sci-Fi series, created by Brian Melanson!

EXCLUSIVE: 'Davis' Dishes Final Episode & More! In Trinity's latest stint, Lana and Quentin shared a moment where something could have happened, if not abrubtly interrupted by Pete Ross. Where is this leading to in the last few episodes, and will the fans get to see this spark ignite sooner rather than later? "Lana and Quentin obviously have strong feelings for one another," executive producer and creator Chris Davis told VPtoday. "They are friends who constantly gravitate more and more toward becoming ... more than that." Davis assured us that Lana and Quentin will come to the realization of their feelings, and he is pretty sure that all you Quana fans out there will be extremely excited. "The last few scenes of season one are not to be missed, I'll say that much!" So it looks like it'll be sooner, rather than later! The fans have been waiting for a huge confrontation between Lana and Amanda Waller. Can we expect something big to happen between the two of them in the season's finale?"What kind of show would it be if I didn't pit Lana and Waller against each other for one final time, this season at least?" he said, telling VPtoday that the fans can expect a good showdown. "There'll be a good, phsyical encounter between the two, which dumbed down means a good 'fist fight,' and you can also expect to see the start of a true frued between the two characters." Does this finale look promising or what? The season has done well in starting these characters off separated -- at least those other than Quentin and Lana. Gradually, as the audience got to know these characters as individuals, they soon formed a team. How they all came to meet one another was a really intriguing aspect of the first half of the season. Does the finale pit Checkmate against the whole team, or will it focus more on Lana's battle against Checkmate? Executive producer, Chris Davis informs us that, like the first half of the season, the team will be separated. "As the final confrontation is among them, they all seem to split off to fight Checkmate in their own way. Lana wants to face the problem, head on, while Quentin is attempting to deal with Cynthia and her recovery, both physical and mental." Davis promises they will meet up to stand and fight united eventually as the season comes to a close, but they have things to deal with first, on their own. "But, all good things come to an end, and that's what you'll see for one of Lana's team mates by the end of the season." Should the show be picked up for a second season by the network, how much of a presence will Checkmate have? Will there be new threats to be worried about? Davis assures us that Checkmate isn't going anywhere. "They may not always be seen, but they will definately remain intact throughout the course of the series." He describes Checkmate as an authority figure to threats and enemies that will arise as the series goes on. "Its like the big, big bad of all the big bads." As the comics would have it, Lana and Pete Ross end up together - in fact they even have kids. How much does the comics influence where your characters might end up? "The series is based on the comics, for sure, but only very loosely." The writer tells VPtoday that nothing in Trinity is absolute, meaning the two may or may not end up together by the close of the series. "I wanted to have an open mind, especially about Pete and Lana's relationship. I'm still pondering the idea of them as an item." Davis confirms that he can't say no to them becoming a couple, but can't say yes either. "Things will unfold as the show progresses, and we'll see where we end up." Back to the finale. Can you give the fans a little tease of what they might expect as the season comes to a close? All Chris Davis had to say on the subject of teasing the finale, was one word: "Lex." I think this is going to be one hell of a season's end. Taking a look at Lana Lang's journey from being a cheerleader, to becoming a hero in her own right, will we see her struggle in being in this position of 'Leader.' In this position of being a hero? And, clearly, Lana's journey is nowhere near complete, so where can we expect to see this character go in the years to come (without giving too much away of course)? "There will be struggle, of course there will. Becoming a leader means you have to make difficult decisions. Decisions that impact not only her life, but the lives of practically everyone around her," he told VPtoday. "Her journey is a long one. Friends will be gained and lost, loves will grow and become strained, and the lives of Lana and her team mates will be forever changed. For better or for worse."

Exclusive: 'Buffy' Returns!Creators of the hit VPN series' "Trinity" and "Watchtower," Chris Davis and Jack Malone team up to produce the everlasting story of Buffy Summers, and her destiny as a vampire slayer - scheduled for next year. "We're both really excited to get this up off the ground. We've got a great story to tell, and so many characters to tell it through," Davis revealed, telling VPtoday about their exictement on the project. "I think new and old Buffy fans will enjoy what we've got to offer." Rumblings of David Boreanaz returning to the series have already begun to bubble, as well as rumors of Eliza Dushku possibly rejoining the cast. "We can't reveal anything yet, as we're still mapping out the arcs, and getting things ready, but all cards are off the table. You can expect anything this season," Davis assured us. "We have a huge cast of characters in the eighth season, and an even bigger story to tell. Stay tuned." Excited to see Buffy return in 2011?

Exclusive: 'Watchtower' Renewed! After a succesful start on the VPN, action series 'Watchtower' has performed exceptionally well for the network over the course of its first season, with even more promise in its second season. With high ratings, and positive reviews, the network has ordered another 13 episode season, with an option for a back 9. Allison Mack, Justin Hartley, Kayla Ewell, Eliza Dushku, Michael McKean, and Christian Bale are all contracted to appear. Returning favourites include: a two-three episode arc involving Alessandro Juliani's 'Emil Hamilton', and a send-off for the speedy superhero, Mia Dearden, portrayed by Elise Gatien. What can we expect next season? Series creater Jack Malone promises a lot of new twists and turns that will turn every single character on their heads. "Everyone will be tested, and challenged in new and exciting ways." Producers confirm they'll be moving from a light tone for the show, and ending on a very dark one. "Our characters will start outside, where everything is peaceful, and seems perfect, to getting lost along their paths and struggling to find their way back." Also: Eliza Dushku joins the cast as the reporter with Claws, Selina Kyle, her evil counterpart, Catwoman. But if that wasn't enough comic book bliss, we'll also be seeing Bruce Wayne stepping up as the vigilante, Dark Knight. "We're diving into this new universe. Lining up with mythos, and bringing more characters into the fold. We'll be introducing Arkham Asylum, Scarecrow, Joker. A lot of great Batman villains to challenge our cast of characters." The producers concluded in saying that this season won't bring on a big bad to develop throughout the course of the season. "We wanted something new, fresh. Unlike Emil, where we spent a full season bringing him to where he ends up in the season finale, we'll be doing things differently. There isn't a season long big bad." So, excited about season two? What do you want to see? Any requests that would make season two even better than the first? Sound off below! Plus: Check out the official opening credits for Watchtower's second season, starring: Allison Mack, Justin Hartley, Kayla Ewell, Eliza Dushku, Michael McKean, and Christian Bale.

NEWS POSTED JULY 22, 2010. Just In: Network farewells 'Faith' & 'Destined'This just in, the Virtual Productions Network has to say goodbye to its very first shows, Faith, and the once-titled-gifted-series Destined. The creators of the show have decided to cut the shows from the air, and informed the network, and myself, of this sad news. "There are a lot of other projects on my mind," Chris Davis told VPtoday at the press release, "and when it came around to Destined, a new take on my Gifted series, I had to make the decision of putting it behind me. At least for now." Chris Davis had made statements that he doesn't intend to forget and move on that easy, in fact, Trinity creator confessed to wanting to tackle it sometime in the future. And what about Faith? Series creator, Jack Malone, told VPtoday at the press release that, and I quote, "production had been stalled for so many months, and outside parties that were responsible for moving the show along while I tackled my other projects weren't coming through for me." Jack Malone went on to say that he will be including Faith in his Buffy the Vampire Slayer continuation, in which he claimed he will not put behind him. "I hope to bring the the show's characters in, as often as possible, but what I do know is that Faith will definately be apart of Buffy's story." Both shows will not be placed into the cancelled section, but will be completely removed from the network, in hopes that both will return in some form in the future. A website is being made where if you wish to read all the episodes of Faith the Vampire Slayer, you can.

NEWS POSTED JULY 14, 2010. Just In: Gatien on a 'Speedy Exit'As the shows producers approach the network with their pitch for the second season, we were told one, possibly two faces will be missing from the season. And in an exclusive interview with Elise Gatien, who plays Mia Dearden, she gives us the dirt on her departure. "When I originally signed, the producers had told me it was a one year arc," actress Gatien explained, "And as the rest of the cast began to negotiate their contracts, I approached them." The young actress continued, informing VPtoday that she was given the goods on how her story wraps up in the first season. "I thought it tied up nicely for the mythos," she claimed, "and although they did offer to bring me back for a few episodes next season, I thought it best to keep to that ending they had planned when the show began." As for what that ending is, she didn't say, but rumor has it she'll be stepping up from sidekick to superhero. Elise Gatien's arc will wrap up in the eleventh episode of the season. The producers are still hoping to have her back later on in the series, whether Gatien wants to return, is up to her.

Unfortunately, I'm not here to give you fans a return date as the producers are pitching the second half of the season to the network, and approving episode titles. But, news of the show's return is bound to come sooner rather than later. Phil Morris, known for his role as Martian Manhunter on Smallville, reprises his role in the returning episode. "He shows up in Gotham with evidence that Chloe is still alive," says series creator Jack Malone, "and he really restores hope for Oliver, who is beginning to lose hope." Also, Doug Jones, who tends to play strange, almost creepy roles, has booked a role for the returning episode, but the producers are still waiting to get the character approved by the network -- which means its a DC Comic Character. As for his part in the episode, we have reason to believe it could be the person responsible for crashing into Perry's car, and kidnapping his dying remains.

The VPN has posted their official DESCRIPTION for the mid season finale of Watchtower. Enjoy!
WATCHTOWER IS OFFICIALLY OFFLINE. MID SEASON FINALE - After their confrontation, Oliver (Justin Hartley) returns to inform Chloe (Allison Mack) that the war has started; and that Emil’s (Alessandro Juliani) new experiment will turn the entire city of Gotham into his lab rats. Racing against the clock, they round up the troops to stop him! Bruce (Christian Bale) says his farewell to Chloe, and decides to prove himself worthy of a superhero. Perry (Michael McKean) gets offered a very important job offer that could relocate him too. Meanwhile, in light of the shocking events, Helena (Kayla Ewell) abandons the team.
