Well somebody has been busy this month! I need to get my sh*t together. I've got like 1-2 more days of February. Is this a leap year? Can never keep track.

Andrea was one of my favorites last season. She no longer has that status with me, but I definitely do no hate her enough to "want to see her guts on a stick." So I might end up liking this episode if its Andrea-centric. Also, I personally enjoy the "talky" episodes, because the show should be focusing on these characters, not the zombies. That stuff's fun, but I would trade a spot of zombie slaughter for a good exchange between the characters any day. I plan on watching the episode a little later, and I'll give the verdict then.

I'm really going to spend this year becoming a more active member of this forum, and the VS' world in general. I'm gonna start by doing more reading and reviewing of some of the great shows on VPN. The first on my list are "Hellbound" and "Audition" The Road So Far (February 2013)Hellbound 1.01 (Reviewed)Hellbound 1.02 (Read) Hellbound 1.03 (Read) Hellbound 1.04 (Read) Hellbound 1.05 (Read) Audition 1.01 (Read)

Basically the same as the "Writing-Related Check In Thread," only focused on readers/reviewers. Here's a thread that can be used to keep track of what you're reading/reviewing on this network, as well as others.

Review of 1.01 "Whispers in the Dark"
Been a long time since I first read the premiere episode, and it's as good as I remember. The set up to this story was executed extremely well. I feel like this was the "right" starting point for the series. Deciding to focus on the character of "Alyson" was a good choice, as she is the one the audience should connect with, in terms of what she knows, and what she doesn't know about the universe you two have developed for "Hellbound." I feel that introducing her as the ''rouge detective'' (or former detective) really brings out the passion and determination she has for solving this case; catching this "serial killer." And giving her a personal connection to the case, with her mother being a victim, was a nice way of bringing all of this "closer" to the characters -- especially Alyson.
Speaking of Alyson, I think she's a really cool lead for the show, and while I believe this episode was focused on setting up her arc and overarching goals, more so than the personal aspects of her character, it's still a good way to start the show. Besides, dealing with a lower page count in the webisode format allows you to get away with certain stuff (Not like I'm an expert). haha!
The story starts off with a bang. Like pretty much everyone here, I really liked Jeremy. His role was short-lived, literally, but what we did get to see of him was awesome. There already seems to be so much backstory and mystery being brought to the table for this series, and I personally love that because it looks like you two have a solid plan. James isn't around much in this episode, only popping up at the end to be all mysterious and vampire-y(?) But I like the mystery. The next episode should get more into his character, so I'm looking forward to that. Overall, this was a fine start to a great show! I'm reviewing these episodes pretty late, having already read the first arc, so I'm trying my best to play dumb and react as I would have if I were reading these episodes for the first time.
In terms of the actual writing -- Jack, you did a great job, as usual. I've read your work on Watchtower (not as much as I should, which I plan on changing) and your attention to detail and unique style of structure and storytelling really shines through here as well. I've never worked in the webisode format before. I plan on doing so soon, but I'm gonna take notes from you and Chris, because even though the script was ten pages long, I felt it had a cohesive 3-act structure. Hard to pull off, and you definitely did it well. I will be back to give my thoughts on the rest of arc one very soon! Great start so far, guys!

I still need to watch the latest episode. I heard it wasn't all that great. Anyone see it?

Said it in the chat, but I thought I'd put it here too. Along with co-writing a pilot with Chris, I got the inspiration for "Archangel" again. Looking to turn my very first VS project into a webisode series. First order of business: complete episode one. Going well so far. Duuuude, you can't just say stuff like that and not expect me to flip the hell out, hahaha. I was really anticipating "Archangel", ever since you showed us how great a writer you are, with that episode of Trinity. I've been dying to see more from you. Can't wait! XD Thanks, Jack! Writing was never part of the plan, but the more scripts I read and write, the more interested in the art I become. Looking forward to attempting webisodes. I think it's a fantastic format for newbie writers like me.

That is awesome, Andrew!! I really loved your graphics over on MZPtv! Can't wait to see more. Edit: Unless you're not the same "Andrew." Then this would be awkward. But still... awesome graphic

I'm a fan of Will Smith, and Jaden seems to have a promising career ahead of him, but there's no way I'm setting myself up for utter disappoint again, as I've done so many times in the past, giving Shyamalan second chances.

That's my fault. I kept finding ways to intertwine two plot points or connect two separate arcs in the grander scheme of things. But I think it's for the best. The episodic structure would bore us both to death.

Sorry I'm so freaking late. This is really hard to decide. After thinking long and hard, I see that I like everyone's choices, but I'm going to go with Brady's choice! God. I couldn't decide.
