Sorry this took a while, I've been busy-ish with crazy work schedules. But here is my feedback for you. I'm going to start off by saying, I am not a huge comic book guy. While I love the comic movies and stuff like that. For example -- Smallville, the DCTV Verse (more or less sometimes), they all start out with an interesting plot that kicks you into the series. Such as a boy with superhuman strength. Or a billionaire playboy who shoots arrows for a living. The shows all start the same, slowly bringing you into the world and you learn about it as the characters learn about it. But in this case, I'm not finding myself intrigued by it. I am someone you want to bring into the series and get excited about because I know nothing about the comics, the origins and the mythology. The best part about a superhero series with a very well established canon, you need to slowly introduce your audience who might not know it all, into this universe. You can't expect someone to look at this and go "I should catch up on everything about this character so I'm ready for the show". A real viewer/reader would not do that. It's up to you as the writer to show us who these characters are, what their goals are and where things are heading. You can't just expect us to know what Rachel is and her whole comic book canon. That's something I felt reading the pilot, I felt confused. I felt as if I should know everything there is to know about this character, but I just don't. It would be hard for a casual person to grasp onto it. Take a look back I think and see how you can introduce us into this world, how you can show us what these characters are going to be, who they are, what's their daily lives or something that before just thrusting us in and just going "Here's all this stuff." It's hard to follow and you need to be slow. There is nothing wrong with taking the time to slowly introduce the world. As for the actual script, I felt as if things felt forced. Like a lot of capitalization. For me, I feel like using caps is good for emphasis or saying "Hey this is important!". But when you do it for a lot of words, it just feels like too much. Also, introducing your characters, it felt as if you were using way too much action to explain when you can simply explain a few of their traits and then go about the episode. It should take a good chunk of the page explaining their outfit. I feel like before this gets any further, you need to go back and look at it from a casual viewer perspective. If you do it like that, it could be good. Make some changes to the action, focus more on the characters and introducing them. I will read another draft and hope that it's drastically different. Just remember, not everyone knows who Raven is. That's up to you to tell us who she is. I just want to follow up with this. I realize I did not offer a lot of ways to help improve the script. Instead I just handed a lot of "I didn't like this". I do apologize for that. So, here is a follow up to that. One of the things that I said was that it felt as if we already had to know the universe. The only Raven I'm familar with is the Raven from Teen Titans. You could do great things with this by slowly introducing us to Raven. Who she is and what she wants out of life. And then it's like oh by the way she's having weirdo visions of a bleek future. It would be fun to be able to pick apart the pieces as the season goes on and then it all culminates together in one final episode where all the pieces come together. It's fun to give hints. Maybe try doing that and it could help build the story and expand it. I have a feeling this is her origins so take your time. She's got time before she's the sassy floating cartoon demon. Again, just think of this as a viewer who has never seen this before and let us meet Raven, get to know her, understand her and then throw us into the whole craziness. I do hope that helps. I do also agree with what Brady and Jack said. I hope to see another draft soon. Good luck!

Now this is what I'm talking about!
It's going to be great to see you build your own story from the ground up and not rely on existing canon. I think that will help you in a huge way! While I am worried about all the tropes that are in this, I am very intrigued to see how you handle them. While having familiar tropes isn't a bad thing, it's all about how you do it. So with that being said, bring on a pilot! It would be nice to see a new superhero series. Good luck with it !

I've just downloaded the new pilot to read, and I have to say, while I'm happy to see the series coming back, I will miss certain characters, like Fiona. That said, I'm eager to dive into the new story and it's reinterpretation of the remaining characters I'd come to love! Any new movement on this? Thanks for reading! I’m still currently in the planning stages! But it’s still going to happen hopefully. I’m focusing on writing Nightfall right now that if and when it’s picked up, I’m ready to air it. But hopefully after I finish that I can put my focus back on 101. And Fiona could back in a new way. I’m not ruling out bringing back the old into the new.

One of the main problems I had with the original show did stem from how many characters were orbiting around the story without a clearer focus on the main character, or at the very least, her inner circle. So I definitely love this refined version of the show that narrows in on a main group of people — all of who, from the original series, played a strong role in Hayley's life. I've read the pilot and I really enjoyed it. Right off the bat, the episode has a clear plot that has a beginning, a middle and an end — Hayley is new to the school, discovers how chaotic and absurd public school life is compared to the very sheltered education experience she's had in the past (which is definitely heightened with a lot of physical comedy), and then there's this level of acceptance that grounds us into a nice resolution that quite literally welcomed us to "101 Ways to Survive High School." So I think the plot made for a great pilot episode, the structure was one that felt clear and laser-focused on Hayley, and I felt like despite the limitations of a webisode format compared to a 30-page comedy, the characters were able to breathe — Danny, Riley and (the legendary) Maureen all had their moments. The areas for improvement would be to just tediously go over your script and look for SPAG errors and fix them. The script needs a lot of polishing in regards to words missing, full-stops missing, and certain technical things like using "A SERIES OF SHOTS" instead of "SCENE HEADINGS." I also think some of the action involved in that last scene between Maureen and Hayley needs a little revision — while Maureen definitely comes across as caring and helpful, I don't think its very professional or legally allowed for teachers to put their arms around students or brush hair out of their face and things of that nature. And I only bring it up because I know there were criticisms of the character in the original series that she often crossed that line of being eccentric and a bit unorthodox to being unprofessional. Overall, I've loved this project since you've pitched it. I feel like comedy writing is very much you in your element, and I definitely need "Maureen" back in my life ASAP. I'd love to see this version of the script polished up and hopefully this series can rejoin the line-up on theVPN. Thank you so much Jack! I remember how much you helped with the OG series and you, along with Brady, gave me HUGE tips to improve it. Now, I just rebooted it. I did re-add the pilot with some SPAG changes. Hopefully I didn't miss anything!

Everything Ends... After Two Seasons and 24 episodes, the current version of "101 Ways to Survive High School" has come to it's end. Now while the current series has ended on a note so happy note, I can assure everyone the plans I had for the future would have had the series ending on a much happier note. The Drama Club would have gotten back together and gone on to be a force to be reckoned with in the Drama Club World. Now, while I wish I could have done this, there are reasons why I didn't. The story going forward wasn't working. I felt like I wasn't honoring the characters in the right way. I was too focused on the secondary characters and not on the ones that really drove the story. Hayley became a minor character in her own series. I just didn't feel like I could continue on with it the way it was going. With that said, 101 is not over. It will be returning as a ten episode webisode series, hopefully. I feel with that I will have more room to expand stories and put more focus on Hayley and her journey. Go on over to the Pitch section to check it out. Some ideas that I was going to use for the original series are going to be folded into the new series. And believe me, it's just gonna be a fun comedy. So, thank you to those who read this version of the series and I hope you stick around for the new version.

Imagine going through High School without a guide. Imagine not knowing what to do when a situation arises and you just stand there looking like a dork! That’s where I come in. My name is Hayley Parker and I just moved from Honolulu, Hawaii to Serenity, New York. See, I went to a private school. Everything there was awesome! It was perfect! My parents wanted to enroll me into Preston High School, another private school. But I wanted to go to Public School… and before you say “Why would you choose public school?!”. I have my reasons. I want the experience of a lifetime! And Serenity High School offered me just that! This is not only for me, but for you! Welcome to "101 Ways To Survive High School!"
Hayley Parker is the new girl at Serenity High. Now while she may not get how to survive public school. Danny and Riley are her new friends that are there to help her in her time of need. But when things begin to get a bit overwhelming, Hayley discovers the Serenity High Drama Club and it's failing ability to get students. With the aid of a whacky drama teacher, Maureen, Hayley, Danny and Riley begin to get the Drama Club back to it's former glory. While having to deal with a Jock, Will Hamilton who doesn't know what he wants to do with his life and his mega popular girlfriend, Katerina Cove. For Hayley, it's the beginning of a new adventure and she is ready to take it all on. One crazy misadventure at a time.

NOTES: Well, this is awkward. Sad to say but the current iteration of 101 airing right now has been cancelled. This is something I didn't expect to do, but I felt 101, while it will forever be one of my favorite creations, how it started and where it went was not how I wanted it. I felt like it was time to serve the purpose of the story and that being Hayley's story about surviving High School. So, new story, some big changes, but still going to be 101 at it's heart. This version of the show will take the Drama Club, put it forward and have that be the story that drives us all through the show. That and the crazy happenings around Serenity High. So, get ready.

While it would be nice to see TVD come back and see a story focused around the Salvatore School. It just feels like it's going to undo everything that happened in the finale. Such as, Stefan is dead and is going to stay dead. Elena and Damon lived a long and happy life. Alaric still has some story left as he will be on the Originals in the coming weeks. It just doesn't seem like this is a spin off and a way to just bring old characters back and undo their endings. The story of Mystic Falls is over. If you were to do a TVD spin off I would do it away from Mystic Falls and with characters we know and love and not just the children of characters we love. We only know Josie and Lizzie. Mystic Falls should left alone and just let the story end. As much as I want a TVD spin off, the story of Mystic Falls has been finished and so have the stories focusing around the Founding Families.
