Hey everyone! We know things have gone a bit quiet on the forums, but things are active once again, and we're halfway through formalising our new direction. While we're of course still a home for VS, we're also restructuring a bit to focus on the writers' circle aspect of our community, a place to share work (big or small) and get feedback, as well as opening our doors to more prose work. We know writing can be a lonely pursuit, so our goal is to support each other at every stage of our writing, from concept to final product. We hope if you haven't visited for a while we might see you around again soon! ~ The Admin Teamwww.mzp-tv.co.uk/forum/

Another proud day for MZPtv as we announce the commissioning of Purgatory from debut showrunner S.A. Goodman! Taking inspiration from the Joss Whedon sci-fi/western series 'Firefly', Purgatory is set in the Old West of 1865 - with the unrest of the American Civil War still in people's minds, sudden rise of Outlaws across the lands and discovery of a strange town. The story tells of a group of people who band together and do whatever it takes to protect the town's secrets, while also mixing with the true story of the period involving a conspiracy theory behind the murder of Abraham Lincoln, and rise in power of President Andrew Johnson. Showrunner S.A. Goodman said "I'm thrilled to be given the green light and begin production on my first foray as creator of a VS. I hope people will join me as I take us back to the Old West, and enjoy as we unlock the secrets behind the mystery surrounding the town - as well as a theory behind the assassination of President Lincoln and all those believed involved. So, dust off those cowboy boots - wrap that holster around your waist and head back to when the west was truly wild!" The show will roll out in mid 2015 with a first season consisting of 10 Episodes. While the general concept of the overall show will be your typical Western, the series will delve into several genres along the route including a hint of sci-fi to support it. We look forward to providing more updates as we get closer to airing. www.mzp-tv.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=5617.0

The MZPtv team is delighted to announce the commissioning of its first prose projects since affiliate series "Ravenshill" aired on the network almost a decade ago. Adapting their previous scripted series ideas into a new format, Tony Black's FRONTIER and Li Robb's WAR OF AGES will spearhead an expansion of MZPtv's content for the year 2015. FRONTIER is an original sci-fi mystery about the crew of the spaceship Icarus, a shuttle undertaking an historic voyage, that of a team of astronauts destined to be the first people to walk on the surface of Mars. 78 days into the journey, however, everything changes. Encountering a bizarre phenomenon in space, the crew of the Icarus are plunged into a situation that will change their lives, and those of them they've left behind, forever. And in doing so, they may find the answer to one of the greatest mysteries in the history of mankind... Creator Tony Black added, "I honestly thought I was done with Frontier when I abandoned scriptwriting, though this story just will not go away. My plan is to write a series of books collectively known as the Frontier Saga, and you will be getting exclusive first looks via MZPtv of book one, 'A Wilderness of Horrors', as I finally hopefully tell what I consider to be my original magnum opus... or at least my first one!" WAR OF AGES is an original epic fantasy that tells the story of the various countries of Tellere, as nations rise and fall in the aftermath of a hundred year war. The Kingdom, Menlow, Nifland, Rowena, Miranesh, all once great and proud nations. But now Menlow bargains with the Kingdom for land stolen in the war, Nifland is under siege from those once their own, Rowena faces a silent and unseen enemy, and Miranesh cries out for help against a dark and monstrous foe. With empires fractured by prejudice and greed and alliances being torn apart by fear and betrayal, who shall stand when all is done? "I'm very excited to bring War of Ages back to MZPtv in a different format, as a project I've not-so-secretly been working on for months", said Li. "This is very much a work in progress novel (series), with the intention of one day having it professionally published. So you guys are getting a first look, chapter by chapter, and I'm very grateful to have some potential guinea pigs! I hope you guys enjoy the first book 'From The Fires'."
MZPtv founder Lee A. Chrimes added, "We hope that starting to make prose a larger part of the MZPtv experience will broaden both our audience and opportunities, giving current writers new storytelling tools and allowing new community members more ways they can create and develop their own projects. At the end of the day, all we want to do is tell stories the best we can, and the more ways we have to do that, the better. Look out for more prose projects - adaptations and new concepts - coming from MZPtv over the next twelve months." If you have a project that suits the prose format, or perhaps have been holding onto a story that you'd like to tell MZPtv's audience, our doors are now fully open for you. If you have any questions about pitching projects written in prose, please don't hesitate to ask. In the meantime, to whet your appetite, we've also got an exclusive preview of Li Robb's War of Ages in the linked thread below. Enjoy. www.mzp-tv.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=5598.0

We have just enough time for one more pickup announcement this week - and believe me, it's a doozy! Adam Scott and Kyle MacDonald boldly go where no Trek has gone before with STAR TREK: EVE OF DESTRUCTIONSet 100 years before the time of Captain James T. Kirk's five year mission into the unknown, Star Trek: Eve of Destruction shows a universe torn apart by war with a terrifying new enemy - the Romulans. Disgraced former Starfleet pilot William Tiberius Church and his rag-tag group of Home Guard volunteers find themselves shanghaied into service for the war effort, and in the process they'll discover a terrifying secret at the heart of the war ... a secret some of their allies are prepared to kill to protect. Co-creator Adam Scott has this to say on his latest project: "The war with the Romulans has always fascinated me, a piece of Trek lore we've only heard pieces of over the years. This was too good an opportunity to pass up. Me and Kyle want to combine the epic sweep of Star Trek with the gritty, lived in quality of classic war movies. It's fair to say this is going to be a completely new vision of the Star Trek universe, and one that shows what humanity is capable of when its back is against the wall." Fellow creator Kyle MacDonald adds: "I'm thrilled to be working with Adam on this project, bringing to life an era of the Trek Universe that has until now only been hinted at". And producer Pete D. Gaskell threw his view into the ring too, stating that "The Romulan Wars are a fascinating time period of Trek history that largely remains a mystery. I can think of no better writers than Adam and Kyle to fill in some of these blanks and begin a whole new chapter for Trek on MZPtv." Star Trek: Eve of Destruction is the first project of our hoped-for summer blockbuster season next year - stay tuned for announcements of more upcoming movie projects in the near future... www.mzp-tv.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=5597

It's an exciting time here at MZPtv - and for our third new project we're delighted to announce the commissioning of The Smile of the White Lady, created by Andrew Corvero ( My Dearest Friend, Kings Cross). Set across multiple time periods, Smile follows the story of multiple characters whose destinies are tied together by the White Lady, a supernatural being which first appears in the series stalking the enigmatic "feral child" Kaspar Hauser. Loosely inspired by a real life unsolved mystery, Smile revolves around the secrets behind Kaspar's identity and death and how they affect Ben Stanhope, a descendant of a British lord who took care of Kaspar and tried to find out the truth about his origins. Ben is haunted by the White Lady, helped by his psychologist, Alice Munro, and the object of the investigation of Inspector Markov of the Saint Petersburg police. A very dark series in tone, Smile aims to blend supernatural horror, historical and psychological drama, and to surprise its readers with shocking twists and revelations rooted in some of the spookiest pages of the 19th century history. Andrew Corvero said "Smile of the White Lady is a mini series that brings together many things that I enjoy: psychological horror, real life mysteries and historical drama. It's my darkest idea by far and my first foray at horror, but the pitch seems to have been captured many people's attention, so I hope it'll live up to the hype!" A mini-series comprising three episodes, The Smile of the White Lady is set to join Tomb Raider and Sins of an Ancient Empire exclusively on MZPtv next year. www.mzp-tv.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=5595.0

Hot on the heels of the arrival of Tomb Raider, MZPtv is proud to announce the commission of another exciting project: Sins of an Ancient Empire. Created by J.B. Gibson ( Star Wars, The Pillars, Spider-Man: Gifts and Curses), and described as drawing influence from the huge sweep of Game of Thrones and the concise yet complex True Detective, Sins of an Ancient Empire represents MZPtv's first foray into epic fantasy. Set on a different world than ours, the Kingdom of Norcora is in the midst of a tragedy: the King has been assassinated, the Prince is missing, and something in the shadows is beginning to flirt with the light. Sins of an Ancient Empire revolves around several major characters who are pieces in a puzzle that will reveal a rich world of Myth and History. From battles to politics, violence to heart, Sins aims to bring a grand adventure and quest to its readers with engaging mysteries and a deep mythology for all to enjoy. Series creator J.B. Gibson said "Sins has been something I've been working on for about 15 years. It's gone through major revisions, many titles, and multiple characters. But there is one thing that has always been there: the history and mythology. I feel that now is the time to get it out there and see what others think as I share my adventure." With a first season comprising 8-10 episodes, Sins of an Ancient Empire will premiere exclusively on MZPtv next year. In the meantime, keep your eyes peeled for news of J.B. Gibson's next venture into the world of Star Wars, coming soon… www.mzp-tv.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=5594.0

For our first new project since the return of MZPtv, we are delighted to announce that TOMB RAIDER has been commissioned for a full series! The show, based on the popular videogame franchise, follows aristocratic treasure hunter Lara Croft around the world in search of ancient wonders and mysteries and dangers. Developed for VS by BRADY BROWN and CHRIS DAVIS, the first season will comprise six episodes and will air exclusively on MZPtv in 2015. MZPtv community leader Adam Scott said "I couldn't be happier to be able launch Tomb Raider as the first of our commissions - Brady and Chris delivered a hell of a pilot and I can't wait to see what they've got in store for the series." Co-creator Brady Brown: "I've always really enjoyed the Tomb Raider video games, and putting a little bit of a spin on the famous Lara Croft is truly exciting, especially being able to work on a project with Chris. I believe we're definitely going to stay true to what Tomb Raider is - excavation, booby traps, etc. - but we're also going to be telling our own type of story with the new characters we've created. I'm thrilled that the pilot has gotten such positive reception, and we can't wait until episodes start airing. Also, researching all of the tombs is loads of fun as well." Co-creator Chris Davis added: "We're really excited about bringing Lara Croft to life here on MZPtv. When going into the initial development, our main goal was to make sure the character and the world around her felt like it belonged to the Tomb Raider universe, while establishing our own, fresh take on this extraordinary woman and her journey. While most of the characters in the main cast are original, I wouldn't rule out seeing a few familiar faces later down the line - if you're a fan of the game franchise, you should definitely keep a look out." Tomb Raider will launch exclusively on MZPtv in 2015. And we're not done yet! Keep your eyes peeled this week for news on several other exciting projects on their way to you in the new year! www.mzp-tv.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=5590.0

ANNOUNCEMENT: MZPTV TRIUMPHANTLY RETURNS AS BZN CLOSES ITS DOORSWith (almost) immediate effect, the team here at the BZN are both saddened and excited to announce the closure of the Black Zero Network and the return to our roots at MZPtv ( mzp-tv.co.uk/forum). The BZN opened its doors on September 1st 2013, and it's been a great pleasure to explore new worlds and make new friends over the past year and a bit, but after recent changes to the admin team a decision has been made to merge everything back together on the old MZPtv community forums. To try and keep things clear and organised, here's a simple FAQ about the whys and the whens and the hows. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?As most of our regular members will be aware, Tony Black stepped down as BZN chief in March 2014, putting Adam Scott and Pete D. Gaskell in permanent charge of the website and community. The creation of the Black Zero Network (as the name suggests) was Tony's passion project, and his desire was for the MZPtv fanfiction properties to have their own breathing space on a brand new forum, with all of the original fiction staying on MZPtv. As both communities had began to slow down, we decided in April 2014 to merge the communities together here on the BZN, with the old MZPtv forums mothballed indefinitely and Adam/Pete the supreme overlords of all. Fast forward to October 2014, and a discussion was breached about returning to our original fiction writing. Both Adam and Pete are big supporters of original virtual series, and with the BZN now in their sole control they felt it would benefit the community to bring it back. From this discussion spun forth the idea to just merge everything back together with MZPtv, where all of the original fiction was still being housed, and where all the old fanfic (such as the MZPtv Jossverse) were still kept in archive. The admin team felt this was the cleanest, tidiest solution. We wanted to come home. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR THE BZN & ITS SHOWS?Essentially, this move will change nothing. All of our forum user accounts (give or take a handful) are present on MZPtv, all of our shows will be present on MZPtv, and everything that's in development now continues to be in development. The only true difference is the URL you'll be visiting, and the fact that we'll once again be commissioning original virtual series. WHO'S IN CHARGE, MISTER?As above, nothing will be changing. Adam and Pete continue to be the chiefs and are in charge, Lee A. Chrimes continues to be an omnipresent deity watching over us all, Tony will still be lurking around eating fried chicken, and I will stick my nose in where required. The current support staff will too keep their roles. HOW MUCH CONTENT WILL WE LOSE IN THE MOVE?I have endeavoured to move a lot of BZN posts over to the MZPtv forums, focusing mostly on the new VS projects that aired on the BZN and the discussions/reviews for those projects, but also moving over a few other entertainment-related topics and posts. I will not be moving over development posts from our hidden development forums, so those working on shows will need to copy/paste anything important back onto MZPtv once we've recreated the hidden development board structure. WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE COMMUNITY ON THE BZN?The forums will stay online for a short time to allow producers to grab any content they need, but eventually the forums will be hidden away and taken offline, with the bznetwork URL redirecting to the MZPtv forums. HELP! I CAN'T LOGIN TO MZPTV!99% of the BZN userbase will already have an account on MZPtv, some of which I created specially for those that didn't have one previously. PLEASE NOTE: Even if you've never stepped foot on MZPtv, you might have an account there which I created for you, which has a random password. If you cannot login, please use the "forgotten password" feature on MZPtv to get a new password sent. If you are still having trouble logging in, you can e-mail me at jt_vaughn@yahoo.co.uk and I'll help you get back on. HELP! THERE'S A MILLION UNREAD POSTS ON MZPTV!Yes, there is. Sorry about that. Most of the unread posts will be ones you've already seen on the BZN, so the best thing to do is to hit this "MARK ALL MESSAGES READ" button near the bottom of the forums: To reset everything to a clean slate. Then you're magically caught up. HELP! SOMETHING ELSE IS BROKEN!I'm always breaking things, so just post on MZPtv or drop me a PM/E-mail and I'll look into it.
Thanks everyone for your continued support for our crazy little niche venture. ~ the Admin team

Hot on the heels of the commissioning of Li Robb's X-Men, BZN is pleased to announce the second of two new projects, an epic reimagining of legendary sci-fi series DOCTOR WHO. Reinterpreted and written by ADAM SCOTT ( Batman) and PETE D. GASKELL ( Star Trek: New Generation), Doctor Who brings the legendary time traveller to life in a brand new way. The new movie, a restart of the Doctor Who mythology from scratch, begins when schoolteachers Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright become aware of strange events pivoting around problematic new student Susan Foreman. Deciding to take matters into their own hands, their search leads them into direct contact with Susan's grandfather, a man who seems to live inside an old police telephone box and calls himself simply The Doctor. Catapulted across space and time, The Doctor, Susan, Ian and Barbara find themselves caught in an elaborate trap laid by a sinister enemy with designs on The Doctor's life, and everything any of them thought they knew about time is about to change. Co-creator Adam Scott said: "I've always wanted a crack at Doctor Who and with this movie I think we've found the perfect way to do it, a way that's at once respectful of the original tales but at the same time allows us to tell any story we want, on any scale that we want, without being beholden to anything that went before." Co-creator Pete D. Gaskell added: "As a fan of Doctor Who ever since my childhood, it's a fantastic opportunity for me to indulge my fanboy tastes by reimagining the series in this bold new fashion - and I can think of no-one better than Adam to join me on this journey. I'm massively looking forward to going right back to the beginning and resetting the playing field completely - and I hope you will be too!" Doctor Who will air this Christmas, exclusively on BZN.

The first of two exciting new projects to be revealed today, BZN is pleased to announce the commissioning of X-MEN.Developed for VS by LI ROBB ( Blood Red Shoes/Malleus Maleficarum) and based on the classic comic book series created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, X-Men brings to life the story of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, a safe haven for the growing population of young mutants with strange and sometimes dangerous abilities, and follows a group of classic X-Men characters as they attempt to show humanity that mutants can be a force for good, a view that brings them into direct conflict with some of their own. Li Robb said of the project: "I'm very happy to be finally jumping into the BZN pool and after what feels like the longest time, flexing my fanfic muscles once again. As a long-time X-Men fan, this series has been swimming around in my brain for a good while now and getting to release it here amongst such a good bunch is pretty much the cherry." X-Men will air exclusively on BZN later this year.

The BLACK ZERO NETWORK is delighted to announce a brand new website to usher in the era of leadership under incoming chiefs Pete D. Gaskell and Adam Scott. The website has been designed as a portfolio for all of our old and new projects. We’ll be looking to avoid the mistakes made with the MZPtv website, which was convoluted and complicated to update regularly. The new BZN website is more of an art gallery than a news broadcast. For daily and weekly updates, the place to be will still be our COMMUNITY FORUMS. The BZN website is where new visitors can easily browse the projects and find information about us without the daunting prospect of thousands of forum posts to dig through. As with any new site there may be a few gremlins in the system, and there is sure to be many tweaks done in the coming weeks and months. Thanks for reading, and we hope you enjoy the new digs. JT Vaughn / BZN Website Admin www.bznetwork.co.uk

The Black Zero Network is delighted to formerly announce a brand new partnership between ourselves and one of the web's finest scripted virtual series -- "VIRTUAL FIREFLY". Upon learning that their site -- stillflying.net -- had been allowed to lapse offline after two virtual seasons and many years of fandom, I set about contacting the creators of the series and proposing that we here at the BZN re-host all of their scripts and give them a new home. After some discussion, we've started putting together the first steps towards this alliance (a far shinier alliance than the Alliance in Firefly), which will bring about new special features in the hopes of snagging a whole new audience to the series, both from the BZN/MZPtv family and across the Internet. While it is too soon to make any firm announcements about the project, we are thrilled to, at the very least, be giving Virtual Firefly a brand new home so that its legacy can live on well into the future. Beyond that... only time will tell. Network chief Tony Black said "It's quite a thrill to adopt Virtual Firefly under the BZN banner, I have to say. It's been on my Virtual Series radar for many a year, and given it's pretty much *the* premier online script-based virtual Firefly continuation, I consider it an honour the team are happy to have the series re-air on our network and, hopefully, one day continue the journey..." Executive Producer George W. Krubski added "We're very excited to have a new home for Still Flying. A lot of the old gang is planning to show up, and besides re-releasing our episodes, I have a feeling that we may have a few things to say about how we got here. Keep flying!". Keep your eyes peeled for future announcements on how exactly the project will be introduced onto the BZN, and in the meantime please make sure to welcome the Still Flying crew when they eventually pop their heads in!
