THE HUNGER GAMES (2012)The Hunger Games is a 2012 American science fiction adventure film directed by Gary Ross, based on the novel of the same name by Suzanne Collins. It is the first installment in The Hunger Games film series. The story takes place in a dystopian post-apocalyptic future in the nation of Panem, where certain boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 18 must take part in the Hunger Games, a televised annual event in which the "tributes" are required to fight to the death until there is one remaining victor. Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence) volunteers to take her younger sister's place in the games. Joined by her district's male tribute Peeta Mellark (Hutcherson), Katniss travels to the Capitol to train for the Hunger Games under the guidance of former victor Haymitch Abernathy (Harrelson).
CATCHING FIRE (2013)The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is an upcoming American science-fiction adventure film based on Suzanne Collins' novel, Catching Fire, the second installment in The Hunger Games trilogy. The film is the sequel to The Hunger Games, and the second installment in The Hunger Games film series, produced and distributed by Lionsgate. After winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) returns home to District 12 along with fellow winner Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). Shortly after returning home, they must embark on a "Victory Tour" of the districts, leaving behind their close friends and family. The day of the Victory Tour, President Snow threatens Katniss' best friend and pretend cousin, Gale Hawthorne. During the tour, Katniss senses that a rebellion is brewing in the districts, but the Capitol is still firmly in control as President Snow (Donald Sutherland) prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games, known as a Quarter Quell, a competition that could change Panem forever.

I'm seeing this on Friday night with some of my girlfriends. So pumped! I'm a little put off by all the attention that's being given to it, though. I read the first book almost as soon as it came out, and now that there's a movie everyone jumps on the bandwagon? Somehow I feel like it's going to be ruined by all the attention that's being given to it. Like Twilight. But I can see the other side of it, too. People are only just realizing that it exists and how awesome it is because it's being advertised as a movie. But I'm still dreading the beginning of a Hunger Games franchise that will be as hardcore as the Beliebers and the Twihards, thus why I'm not searching for anything related to it on Tumblr. XD

I'm sorry but you're wrong. Twilight sucked before it was ever a movie. Hunger Games is so far beyond it in every way. Harry Potter and LOTR are good and have huge fan bases think of it more like that

HUNGER GAMES!! These books have become one of my all time favorites! ;D I read them all in less than a month! I'm been reading all the reviews for the movie, and they all say fans won't be disappointed! I've never read Twilight, so I'm not able to judge the books, but I saw the first movie and wanted to punch myself in the face. xD I think Hunger Games and Twilight are different in every way possible. But I must say Suzanne Collins > Stephanie Meyer.

That's cool, Kerry, I know Twilight isn't everyone cup of tea. XD I'm actually reading it again for a school project, and I'm not entirely sure why I liked it as much as I did when I first read it. but I can still see the appeal. I agree though, the movie sucked. I really, really hope the Hunger Games turns out have a fanbase like Harry Potter and LOTR, and that I won't be disappointed, but I still worry. Especially when they're saying on the news that its going to be "the next Twilight". XD

It was gooooooooooooooooood. ;D There were a few things that were a little disappointing and they wouldn't have taken much to fix, but I still liked it. There may be spoilers contained below (hence the button XD) so don't look if you really want to see it for yourself or haven't read the book yet. I didn't realise how much I disliked the actors they had chosen until the movie started. Katniss reminded me too much of Susan from Narnia, and Peeta and Gale just didn't look right, and Cato was too hot to look vicious.
It started off really well, and they spent quite a bit of time setting it up, which was good, but as a result I didn't think they left themselves enough time to really catch the horror of the Hunger Games themselves. The cornucopia really surprised me, which, since I had been pitching it as a giant saxaphone, shouldn't have come as much of a shock. XD
Rue was gorgeous and incredibly adorable, and they did her death fairly well. They forgot about the cannons for each tribute's death about half way through, so we had at least four (and possibly more that they didn't show) die without it, before they suddenly remembered and picked it up again.
They did Peeta's camouflage make-up incredibly well, but then they really let down with the mutts. They were basically giant dogs, and there was absolutely nothing about them that hinted that they were based off the tribute's. After that I felt like they really rushed the end, like they realised they were running out of time and just had to get it over with.
I don't know if it was the same in the book, but it really annoyed me how vulnerable Katniss started acting towards the end, the fact that she slipped into some random accent for a line, and how she totally sold out. I also realised that I don't like Peeta or Gale, because they were both pathetic.

I just saw Hunger Games, everything they did was absolutely great. There were some things that were added or taken out, but it was so needed to make the movies flow better. Katniss was so realistic and great, Gale was much more likable to me in the movie cause I kinda hated him in the book. Peeta....I just wanted to snuggle him.

I saw this, stared at it for at least ten minutes, and then died when I remembered when the movie's coming out.

So will this one have a sort of "aquatic" theme? That's what I'm picking up from those photos. I hope to god that's the case... I don't think I could stand a simple rehash of the forest from the first one.
