The question is two-fold, so I will answer it as such; The STAR Labs branch in "M:SCU" is the main branch, the original, as it were, and there are various other divisions throughout the US, which will be explored later, especially with the planned arc for Kitty in S2. I don't think I've specifically mentioned the organisational structure of the company in detail yet, because I've really focused more on what role Kitty has in particular. Regarding Ollie, well, his identity is pretty much public anyway, since he 'came out' back in "Smallville", and that has carried on through these continuations. I know Jack has touched on what's going on with Ollie back in Star City, but besides maybe a brief mention being worked into the next few episodes, I have no plans to delve into that story. The only reason I ask is because in watchtower I could have sworn Jack fixed that little tidbit in S2. And i thought considering Ollie was at STAR labs they must know his identity again. And Kitty shared that with the SCU but swore them to secrecy.

A 'fix'? Can't say I remember that, but it's been a while since I read Season 2. As far as I was aware, Ollie being Green Arrow was still pretty much a known fact, but it's not something I constantly try and work into the story, only when it bares relevance.

COUNTDOWN FOR THE FINAL THREE EPISODES!!
VSGuide can exclusively reveal that production continues apace behind the scenes of "Metropolis: Special Crimes Unit", as the cast and crew gear up for the final episodes of the inaugural season. Filming for 1x10: "Resurrection" is currently on-going, while pre-production for both 1x11, originally entitled "Vigilante" before being re-designated "Retaliate", and 1x12: "Playtime" is going well.
"I'm really excited for the season finale", says series creator and head writer Alex Matthews, "because it will not only really change things up as we go into the second season, but it will bring back a few familiar faces to Metropolis." When asked if the finale would tie up all the loose ends of the season, Alex told us, "I'm definitely playing a long game with Intergang and their plans for the city, so not everything will be tied up in a neat little bow, a lot of storylines will continue into the second year and merge with the new plots and arcs that we'll be exploring."
Guest actors for the final three episodes include Michael Cudlitz, Indira Varma, Richard Speight Jr., Christian Kane, and Diego Klattenhoff, while returning guest stars include Fionnula Flannigan and David Tennant!
Read on for more episode-specific SPOILERS!
1x10: "Resurrection"
- Dario Delacio guest-stars as "Solomon Grundy", the mystical behemoth who was last seen in "Smallville" allied with Marionette Ventures, taking on the role from previous actor John DeSantis. - Indira Varma guest-stars as "Madame Xanadu", a con-woman by day, but mystical guardian by night, who gets involved when the S.C.U. are tracking down a vicious killer. - Michael Cudlitz will be bringing to life another member of the J.S.A., "Ted Grant", a.k.a. "Wildcat", and will share a few scenes with Chris Lowell's "Todd Rice". "Todd really gets a true glimpse into his past", Chris explained during a break in filming, "and it scares him a little, because he's not sure he really wants those questions answered anymore." - Fresh from her time on "The Flash", Malese Jow will debut as "Rachel Roth", assuming the role from previous actress Phoebe Tonkin. Joining her will be Connor Paulo, of "Gossip Girl" and "Revenge" fame, as "Garfield Logan". - Michael Urie makes his first appearance as "Damon Matthews", a staff member at the District Attorney's office and a love interest for Todd Rice. - "This was definitely a fun episode to do", commented Jill Teed, a.k.a. "Maggie Sawyer", "because it was a little out of our normal wheelhouse, with magic and witchcraft being a big part of the story." 1x11: "Retaliate" - Jaime Ray Newman and David Guintoli return as "Whisper A'Daire" and "Kyle Abbott", as also making an appearance is "Daniel Brickwell", portrayed by Richard T. Jones. "We get to see just how much Whisper is manipulating 'Brick', forcing him to change the way he operates in order to be taken seriously by Intergang", Alex tells us, "and the lengths he's willing to go to himself." - Frank Weller returns as "Ralph Dibny" as does "Adrian Chase", portrayed by Michael Conrad, Kathleen Munroe as "Kate Spencer", and Michael Urie as "Damon Matthews". - Richard Speight Jr., more well known as "Gabriel/Loki" of "Supernatural" fame, appears as "Mitchell Shelley", a corrupt defence attorney who clashes with Kate Spencer (Kathleen Munroe) and Damon Matthews (Michael Urie) who becomes the target of a revenge plot. - Christian Kane, who plays "Greg Saunders", took a few minutes to explain more about his character, "He's just a small town kind of guy whose gotten mixed up in something and he's doing his best to get out of it alive, and protect the people he cares about. He's no saint, though, he's got a genuine reason to be angry with someone, but he's doing what he can to get out in one piece." - Diego Klattenhoff, of "The Blacklist" and "Homeland" appears as "Lieutenant Harry Stein", the commander of the Metropolis police's SWAT team and hostage negotiator. - Michael Anthony Hall returns for a brief appearance as "Mayor Frank Berkowitz". 1x12: "Playtime" - Someone thought dead for the past year makes a surprise reappearance in Metropolis. - David Tennant returns as "Oswald Loomis", a.k.a. "The Prankster", after last being seen entering the service of Intergang. - Keri Lynn Pratt WILL appear in this episode as "Cat Grant", as she gets caught up in a crisis related to both Intergang's plan to cause chaos throughout Metropolis, and the agenda of the character returning from beyond the grave. - One of the standing sets of the season will be totally DESTROYED in an explosion that will catch everyone off guard. - One of our recurring characters will be KILLED OFF. - The season will end on a major cliff-hanger.
So, any thoughts or theories? Sound off below, folks!

HOLD THE PRESSES! THIS JUST IN! Snapper Carr is coming to a news broadcast near you! Former " Gossip Girl" actor Chace Crawford has signed on for a guest spot in the finale two episodes of the season, "Retaliate" and "Playtime" as " Lucas 'Snapper' Carr", a roving reporter for WGBS News. "They say journalism is dead, but that's not the case in Metropolis," series creator Alex Matthews tells VSGuide on the set of filming episode 1x11, Chace's first episode of the season. "As we were outlining episode 11, I realised we needed a way of communicating the situation to characters who weren't directly involved, so we added in a newscast live from outside the courthouse. Originally, it was going to be just for this episode, but as we starting prepping the outline for the finale, we realised it felt right to include the same idea again." But why Snapper? In the comics, Snapper was known as the 'mascot' of the original Justice League team-up, after helping the heroes defeat Starro, and then went on to have adventures of his own, as well as developing teleporting powers whenever he snapped his fingers, an affectation that is the reason for his nickname. He also joined Checkmate for a while, and was involved in several key crossover storylines. "My first encounter with Snapper comes from watching the " Justice League" animated series, where he was always the go to reporter for whatever situations the League encountered, and was voiced by Jason Marsden, one of my favourite voice actors," Alex explained. "When we were discussing who this news reporter should be, we went back to the animated series and consider several characters, like Angela Chen and Srooya Bashir, before eventually settling on Snapper, since so many of our journalists in the VPNDCU are women! Chloe, Lois, Vicki, Selina, Toby, Cat Grant, it felt right to add some men to the mix." Speaking of which, VSGuide also learned that Mark Pellegrino (formerly of " Supernatural", " Being Human" and " The Tomorrow People" fame, currently appearing in " The Returned") has also joined the guest cast of the season finale, as "Vic Sage", a.ka. the vigilante investigator "The Question". Also known as 'the man without a face', due to his using a special artifical skin called 'PseudoDerm' that bonds with and covers his facial features, along with a special gas that allows his hair and clothes to change colour to disguise his identity. "Again, it comes down to the " Justice League Unlimited" animated series - I LOVED the Question, voiced by Jeffrey Coombs, who played him as a bit of a eccentric kook obsessed with conspiracies who wasn't taken seriously by anyone except Batman and Huntress," Alex tells us. "Considering his later life ties in closely with Gotham City and some of it's inhabitants, I did a lot of checking with Jack Malone to make sure the character was free, which he was, so now, we have big plans for Vic Sage when he comes to Metropolis to take a job at the Daily Star, alongside Toby Raines." When asked if he was going to follow his animated counterpart's storyline, Alex laughed before replying, "Well he won't be as tightly wound, but he is known to Toby for his occasional madcap theories that he talks about on his blog, 'Question Everything'. But he's still a serious investigative journalist, so he'll give Toby a run for her money." But will he go down the path to becoming a vigilante himself while in Metropolis? "There's definitely a plan involved, and if Mark agrees, Vic will be back throughouot Season 2 should we score our renewel." So, Snapper Carr and Vic Sage are soon to make their Metropolis debuts? What are your thoughts and 'questions' regarding this two new characters?

Season Two Confirmed!
Yes, that's right! VSGuide has exclusive confirmation that " Metropolis: Special Crimes Unit" will be continuing into an exciting 2nd season, detailing the further adventures of Captain Maggie Sawyer and her team at the S.C.U. in the city affectionately known as "the Big Apricot"! "I'm very excited!", series creator and show runner Alex Matthews told us after the renewal came through from VPN executives, "I'm really eager to start exploring the ideas and arcs we've had on the 'what if?' pile for a while, and now we know we're going forward, we're going to use the final episodes of this season to tease them out a little." It is also confirmed that, as well all Season One main cast members will continue forward into the new season, actor Chris Lowell, who portrays "Todd Rice", the faithful administrative aide to Jill Teed's "Maggie Sawyer", has been promoted to the regular cast, having appeared as a recurring character during the first season. "Todd was always the unofficial 6th member of the main team," Alex explained, "and given the storyline we're now planning for him as his questions about his parentage are slowly answered, making him a regular character just seemed to make sense." The season will follow the same kind of procedural/investigative format as the first, and contain 12 regular episodes, as well as 2 seasonal specials - one for Halloween, the other for Christmas. Other news in from the set is that Christopher Judge, of " Stargate: SG-1" and " The Dark Knight Rises" fame, has signed on to play the role of "Daniel 'Brick' Brickwell". He is taking over the role from Richard T. Jones, who portrayed the character during the final scene in the premiere episode, " Formation". "Brick was always meant to be a bigger part of the whole Intergang/starlight arc," Alex told us, "but as the season progressed, we found we couldn't really organically involve him as much as I originally planned. But for the final two episodes of the first season, we found that those storys really served as a better way to reintroduce him to the viewers, and now we have the go-ahead for Season 2, we can move him in the direction to step up and really make his presence known." SPECIAL NOTE: Many thanks to Chris Davis for the AMAZING cast banner he threw together for me!

Court Is Now In Session! VSGuide has been on the set during retakes on M:SCU episode 1x10, and can exclusively reveal that Jonathan Groff, of " Looking" and " Glee" fame (not to mention the voice of 'Kristoff' in smash animated film " Frozen"!), has joined the cast of the police procedural/adventure series. He is taking over the role of " Damon Matthews" from former " Ugly Betty" star Michael Urie. " Jonathan was one of the top choices when they were originally casting the character, but his busy schedule back when we first were casting the role meant he sadly couldn't take on that part," a series insider told us. Show-runner Alex Matthews also added, " Michael actually filmed scenes from episode 10, and worked really well with Chris, but the chemistry they had in audition didn't seem to carry over. After discussions, Michael decided he wasn't really right for the role, which is primarily that of a love interest, although the character does get involved in some dramatic scenes in episode 11. We got in touch with Jonathan, who also had a great screen presence in test scenes with Chris, and given the fact that we'd taken such a long hiatus, we were able to find a way to make it work around his work load in order to have him take the part." During a break in filming, reshoots that were arranged to Jonathan could play the character from his introduction, we managed to talk to the former " Glee" actor about his thoughts on the role: " What I like about Damon is how well-adjusted he is, and that will be a really stabilizing influence when it comes to his relationship with Todd. Both of them have become comfortable with being gay men in today's environment, but while Damon has the so-called 'normal ' life, Todd is struggling with his identity issues as he discovers his own origins, and Damon is there for him, it strengthens their relationship." Production of episode 11 is underway during these reshoots in the S.C.U. squad room set, and pre-production of the season finale, titled " Playtime" has begun. Alex tolds us that " things will definitely get shaken up by the finale, and someone who has been mentioned this season but not appeared will be making a stand, and it will change a lot."

You might want to re-read Episode 2, because I had to go back and 'retcon' a few things due to discussions with Jack regarding the direction of a particular recurring character. Basically Jack had a better plan/arc for their trajectory then I had laid out, so I handed that character off to him. This caused some delay in writing Episode 11, and some changes in dialogue to Episode 10, as I had to find a new character to fill the slot, and not just insert a new character as a copy/paste job. But I'm nearly done (just been lacking the energy for writing lately!) and hopefully Episode 12 will be just as easy to write. I will be posting some spoilers about the new character shortly, and once the episodes are eady to air (which I hope will be from the end of the month) I will post some more details and MAJOR SPOILERS for them as well.

Meet Lynn Stewart-PierceThe New Legal Eagle of Metropolis
Salli-Richardson Whitfield, known to many SyFy viewers as "Dr. Allison Blake" from their hit show "Eureka", has signed on for a guest appearance in Episode 11 of "Metropolis: Special Crimes Unit". She will be playing 'Lynn Stewart-Pierce', the Executive Assistant District Attorney for Metropolis, who is prosecuting a seemingly standard case when the courtroom is taken hostage by a man dressed as a cowboy, alongside starring cast member Tembi Locke's 'Dr. Beth Chapel', and recurring cast members Jonathan Groff's 'Damon Matthews' and Fred Weller's 'Lt. Ralph Dibny'.
"I'm thilled to be joining the VPN family", Salli told VSGuide during a break in filming, "Lynn is a very headstrong, powerful woman, and even though this isn't an everyday situation for her, she keeps her calm and tries to keep things from escalating badly."
In the comics, Lynn is the wife of long-time superhero 'Black Lightning', a.k.a. Jefferson Pierce, who would become mothe of two daughters, who would develop both super powers and secret identities of their own in time, and was originally conceived to be the sister of another superhero, Green Lantern John Stewart, although this was never used in publication.
The role has the potential to become recurring.

COUNTDOWN The Final Three Episodes Of The First Season
TheVPN has released an exciting trailer for the final episodes for the first season "Metropolis: Special Crimes Unit". As well as showing viewers a glimpse of just what is coming for the main characters of the action/adventure/pseudo-procedural show, it also hints at some of the many guest stars that have been hinted to be appearing, including Fred Weller's 'Lieutenant Ralph Dibny', and David Conrad's 'Adrian Chase'. They are also joined by Indira Varma, Christian Kane and Keri Lynn Pratt, who each will appear in one episode each of the three. However, perhaps the most surprise twist is the return of Chris Gauthier's 'Toyman', who was last seen being shot by the Joker during the final episodes of the second season of sister show "Watchtower". "We were very excited that Chris agreed to return to the role," explained showrunner Alex Matthews, "Toyman was always part of the plan for how the season would end, and we worked very closely with Jack Malone over on "Watchtower" to make sure everything we had planned worked alongside what had gone before." The final three episodes, the magick-heavy "Resurrection", the hostage-drama "Retaliate" and the exciting finale "Playtime" will air in a three week run, sometime in late September, although an actual air-date has not been announced yet.
The trailer can be read here!

THE MADAME TALKS MAGICK...
With the return tomorrow of " Metropolis: Special Crimes Unit", the VPN is happy to release an interview with one of the upcoming episode's main guest stars, Indira Varma. The English actress, known to American audiences for her work in " Game of Thrones", and more widely known for her appearances in " Torchwood", " Luther" and " Rome", plays 'Madame Xanadu', a woman with a past of low-level criminal endeavours that brought her to the attention of the Justice Society back in it's heyday. Not only that, but she's a skilled practitioner in the magickal arts, an ability that comes in handy when an old foe of the Society and the League resurfaces with a murderous vengeance. "I was thrilled with the part," Indira revealed, during filming of the episode several months ago, "She's not just a touch of English wit and sarcasm in the episode, but also someone who can take care of herself. She's spent years scamming people with a mixture of con artists trickery and actual magic, she's got her own kind of moral compass, but still knows right from wrong in the grander scheme of things." When asked about some of her favourite moments of filming, she told us. "I definately have an adversarial relationship with [episode guest star] Michael [Cudlitz] throughout most of the episode, but there was also a proper undercurrent of affection and caring in there as well, that came out from the script, and we played that up as much as possible." She is adapted from the DC Comics character of the same name, and series creator Alex Matthews explains his reasons for introducing the character, "With the death of Dr. Fate, I felt that we needed a character who could occasionally lend a magical assist when required, as well as wanting to address the idea that the SCU will from time to time encounter magic-related crimes. This version of Madame Xanadu was inspired a little by the " Young Justice" episode ' Denial" - the idea of a con artist pulling off confidence tricks in the middle of Metropolis, who actually has quite a bit of genuine magical ability. Tying her into the past of the JSA just seemed logical, given how long she's been operating." Series star Jill Teed also had this to add, "Having an episode that deals with magic mixing with police work was very strange, but somehow it worked. We knew from the readthrough that this episode was really designed to focus on our guest stars and their stories, and we had a real good time working with the idea. I hope audiences liked it as much as we did!" Matthews also told us he was very happy with how the episode turned out, "Not only was Indira everything we hoped with Xanadu, making her quintessentially British while also keeping an exotic nature to her, but Dario Delacio's return was a real tour de force." Tomorrow's episode, titled " Resurrection" also features Malese Jow, Connor Paulo and Fionnula Flannigan alongside guest appearances from James Patrick Stewart and Jonathon Groff in his debut appearance as 'Damon Matthews' as well as series stars Jill Teed, David Patkeau, Tembi Locke and Fran Kranz. Felicia Day does not appear.

EXCLUSIVE! SEAN MAYER & EDDIE CAHILL ARRIVE IN METROPOLIS
That's right! TheVPN can reveal that several months ago, just after the Season Two confirmation, Sean Maher, of " Firefly" and " Serenity" fame, booked a brief guest spot for the season finale, that will continue into the second season in a recurring capacity. He will be playing John Denetto, a.k.a. "Johnny Stiches", a member of Intergang, and one of the many contract killers on Whisper A'Daire's speed dial, who gets called in to deal with a situation that arises from the return of "Toyman" to Metropolis. We managed to get hold of him during his time on set, and asked, after his guest appearances on "Arrow", what drew him to another villainous role. "They are very similar in the fact they are both killers, and do that job coldly and efficiently. But whereas Scheffer was a complete psychopath, with no regard for innocents, Johnny is rather suave and well-presented. He can easily blend in with the 'regular' people, and come across as rather genuine." Speaking of suave and well-presented bring us to Eddie Cahill, who will also be joining the recurring cast for Season 2, after a guest spot in the season finale. He will be playing the character of "Vinnie", a mysterious man who catches the eye of Dr. Kitty Faulkner, played by series star Felicia Day, and according to Cahill, the feeling is mutual. "Vinnie definitely is attracted to Kitty from the get-go - he's got a thing for damsels in distress, and since they meet at a political fundraiser, Kitty is very out of her element, which immediately puts him in 'white knight' mode." Alex Matthews had this to add on whether "Vinnie" was an original character or based on a comic character, "He's a little from column a, and little from column b, really. Although he's not based on any particular character from the comics, he was inspired from an idea I got from reading about a comic book character, a character that actually featured back in "Smallville", that I felt would allow a particular element of the Season 2 plan to be explored in more detail." In prep for the season finale airring next week, "Metropolis: Special Crimes Unit" released a special promotional image, entitled "The Gang's All Here..." It features Sean Maher alongside David Giuntoli and Jaime Ray Newman on the Metropolis set, as 'Johnny Denetto', 'Kyle Abbott' and 'Whisper A'Daire' respectively. [many thanks to our new official graphics artists whiz, Darrin McCann !!] More news and spoilers to come! Stay tuned for the release of Episode 1x11: "Retaliate" later tonight!
