Orange Is the New Black (often abbreviated to OITNB) is an American comedy-drama series created by Jenji Kohan and first released on Netflix on July 11, 2013.
The series revolves around Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), a woman living in New York City, who is sentenced to 15 months in a women's federal prison called Litchfield Penitentiary (operated by the "Federal Department of Corrections", a fictionalized version of the Federal Bureau of Prisons). She has been convicted of transporting a suitcase full of drug money to her former girlfriend Alex Vause (Laura Prepon), an international drug smuggler/mule. The offense had occurred ten years prior to the start of the series, and in that time Piper had moved on to a quiet, law-abiding life among New York's upper middle class, so her sudden and unexpected arrest seriously disrupts her relationships with her fiancé and her family. In prison, Piper is reunited with Alex (who might or might not have named Piper in her trial, resulting in her friend's arrest), and they re-examine their relationship and deal with their fellow prisoners. The show often shows flashbacks of significant events from the past of various inmates. These flashbacks may explain how the inmate came to be in prison or otherwise further develop the character's backstory. |

We didn't have a thread for this show?? Unbelievable. This is a really great show.
My favorite characters are Taystee, Poussey, Crazy Eyes, Morello, Sophia, Red and now I feel like I have too many favorite characters.

We didn't have a thread for this show?? Unbelievable. This is a really great show. My favorite characters are Taystee, Poussey, Crazy Eyes, Morello, Sophia, Red and now I feel like I have too many favorite characters. I feel like I love EVERY single character, but Vee, Pornstache, Fig, and Heely. And I just need S3 now! |

Has anyone else here seen S3?
If so, what are your thoughts on it?
I’m currently halfway through the season and I feel it’s getting a bit repetitive (been here, done that). The writing is still great (and I love the characters), but it doesn’t seem to add something new (or fresh) to the story. I’m afraid this series is going to have one or two seasons too many.
At least that’s how I see it at the moment.

At least that’s how I see it at the moment. I actually enjoyed season 3 more than season 2 haha. My main problem with season 3 was the lack of overall story, as it felt like a bunch of separate storylines that never really came together. But other than that and some quite problematic moments, I enjoyed it for the most part  |
