Desperately seeking out of his mentor’s shadow, Dick Grayson (Brant Daugherty), the former Robin, moves down to Blüdhaven, a city ruled by corruption and fear. Taking up residence in a small, but comfortable apartment downtown, owned by the brilliantly eccentric Bridget Clancy (Zhu Zhu), and creating his new persona as “Nightwing”, Dick discovers just how far the cities corruption goes.
With the help of Barbara Gordon aka Oracle (Deborah Ann Woll), Dick works his way into the Blüdhaven police force, and makes it his mission to put a lid to the corruption within Blüdhaven's government. Whilst doing so, he gains new allies in Amy Rohrbach (Vanessa Ferlito) and Gannon Malloy (Chris Zylka), two of the few honest cops left in the city.
They must band together to pile up enough evidence to put Francis Redhorn (Edward James Olmos), the precinct’s dirty police chief, and the countless other officers who follow him, including the worst of the worst, Inspector Dudley Soames (Logan Marshall-Green), behind bars; all while trying to maintain law and order within the crime ridden streets of Blüdhaven.
But with shifting alliances in the crime world, and a new, mysterious power on the rise in Blüdhaven, Dick is forced to question if he's truly prepared to stand on his own, and protect a city just as corrupt and deadly as Gotham.
Dick Grayson (Brant Daugherty) is a dedicated, but laid-back young man in his late twenties. The big brother you wish you had; he's always been confident, charming and thoughtful, with an unwavering need to do the right thing, almost to a fault. Spending years under Batman's wing, Dick felt the need to step out from his shadow and begin his own journey, which leads him to assuming the Nightwing persona. Working as a police officer by day and vigilante by night, Dick will do anything in his power to make Blüdhaven a better place.
Amy Rohrbach (Vanessa Fertilo) is an experienced, driven and pragmatic cop who values loyalty and integrity. One of the last honest cops within Bludhaven's corrupt police force, she's made it her mission to clean up her department, one dirty cop at a time. Dedicating years of her life compiling enough evidence to put her corrupt police chief away for good, she begins to notice a decline in her home and personal life with a rebellious son and detached husband.
Gannon Malloy (Chris Zylka) is a new, but competent officer, fresh out of the academy. He is an extremely shy introvert, preferring to keep to himself, but is open to close friendships with people he thinks are interesting. He values kindness, which is what initially attracts him to befriending fellow rookie, Dick Grayson. They develop a close friendship quite quickly.
Bridget Clancy (Zhu Zhu) is a superintendent working and living in the rougher part of the already rough city of Bludhaven. Very smart and handy with tools, she makes sure everyone in her building, including Dick Grayson, is comfortable. To most who cross paths with her, she's a tough, no-nonsense super, but to the chosen few she calls friends, she's eccentric, witty and endearing. She loves helping people and even has dreams of becoming a doctor.
Dudley Soames (Logan Marshall-Green) is a man with no fear and no limits. Acting as the chief of police's errand boy, hitman and liaison into the criminal underworld, Soames has recently gone off mission, taking deals, working for organized crime factions, and making moves without the chief's knowledge of approval. He's highly intelligent, opportunistic, brutally strategic and self-obsessed.
Francis Redhorn (Edward James Olmos) is the corrupt Blüdhaven Chief of Police. Manipulative, dishonest and greedy, Redhorn is able to keep a lid on his nefarious activities with a number of corrupt officers, politicians and gang lords in his corner, ready to take the fall for him if need be.
Barbara Gordon (Deborah Ann Woll), being force to retired her cape as Batgirl after a life-altering injury, has devoted all her time to developing one of the world's most complex and powerful computer systems, renaming herself "Oracle." Still based in Gotham, Barbara helps her former partner and friend, Dick, in his journey in Blüdhaven.
So here's something I've had on the back burner for a while now, and am just now deciding to show off. I spent the last year doing research, and even more research on the character of Dick Grayson/Nightwing, and I completely fell in love. He's definitely one of my favorite DC Comics characters, and among the two characters I'd ever want to make a series about( The other being Wonder Woman). This series would be loosely based on a the storyline from the comics. With it diverging more and more as the series goes on. I wanted to give this the Netflix's Daredevil treatment with the tone, with a pinch of Arrow and a bit of my own style. Right now, my main focus is on Tomb Raider and Screenwriter's Paradise, but I should be working on this series sporadically. The pitch is still kind of in beta mode, and there are things I'll add/remove/edit, but feel free to tell me what you think so far!
1.01 "A Knight In Blüdhaven" | Leaving his identity as Robin behind, and establishing a new life in a new city, Dick Grayson hopes to use his crime-fighting skills in other ways. Working as a bartender at the local police bar, Hogan’s Alley, Dick still struggles to get out of old habits, patrolling the streets every night. But after twenty-one members of Angel Marin’s gang turn up dead, he finds himself once again putting on his mask; Only this time, he’s taken up a new name - Nightwing. An investigation leads him to discovering a new, powerful crime boss on the rise. After being attacked by thugs claiming to work for the new leader of Blüdhaven’s crime world, the journey to discovering who exactly that is begins. Meanwhile, Sergeant Amy Rohrbach of the Blüdhaven police department is on the case as well, as her and the department suspect the vigilante is tied, if not the culprit behind the dead gang members.
1.02 "Eggs" | Compiling a list of suspects in the Angel Marin Gang murders with the help of Soames, Nightwing tracks down a man named Freddy Minh, the vice lord of the Asian mobs in Blüdhaven. Soon after questioning him, Angel Marin’s gang attacks Minh’s home and steals something priceless of his in an attempt at revenge in the killings. When Nightwing suspects Minh's innocence, he promises to get back what they stole. Meanwhile, Amy deals with the corruption in her department as evidence in the case she’s building against her own department goes missing.
1.03 "The Zee Moores" | When large quantities of money start going missing from small, struggling family businesses all over the city, Dick once again goes to Soames, who tells him of a scam artist named Sulieman Thomas Ali, who runs a bank in The Zee Moores, a slum in Blüdhaven, might be the one behind it.
