Successful therapist, devoted sister and loving girlfriend Gwen Lawson (Candice Patton) is one of many victims across the city of Salvation who have disappeared off the face the world, only she's one of the few to return. Waking up in an alley, six months after the incident, Gwen's world has completely changed: James (Charles Michael Davis), her brother, is newly married, Adam (Jack Falahee), the man she loves, now loves another, and she now finds herself with the ability to read the thoughts of others. Desperate to uncover the truth behind those missing six months, and the origin of her power, Gwen finds herself lost in a deep-rooted mystery, and will stop at nothing to solve it. Forced to lay her past to rest, Gwen must carve out a new life from this new reality that didn't hesitate to move on without her. Despite being forced to reinvent her old relationships, Gwen finds an interesting companionship in both bartender Lauren (Lyndsy Fonseca) and Cameron Phelps (Justin Chatwin), who will prove to be the two most important people in her life. A twisted conspiracy, a forgotten past, and a new world waiting to be discovered in 'The Fractured.' In order to solve the puzzle, we sometimes have to shuffle the pieces...
THE MAIN CAST
Starring Candice Patton, Justin Chatwin, Lyndsy Fonseca, Charles Michael Davis, Jack Falahee, and Charisma Carpenter.
Gwendolyn 'Gwen' Lawson (Candice Patton). 27. Therapist. A vibrant, eternally enthusiastic woman who thrives on helping others. Currently in a relationship with her high school sweetheart of eleven years, and couldn't feel more happy, appear more successful, or be more together. After an incident that took six months of her life away, Gwen wakes up with her life in pieces, a time lapse she has no memory of, and a power she cannot explain.
Cameron Phelps (Justin Chatwin). 33. Computer hacker / criminal. Self-proclaimed smart ass invested in his own self-preservation. Phelps makes a living from uploading viruses that hold his victims' information hostage for bribing purposes. He's far from a bad or vindictive man, more of a desperate one with bills to pay, and a mystery to solve. While he could be the greatest asset for Gwen, he's mostly the greatest burden.
Lauren Rhodes (Lyndsy Fonseca). 26. Bartender. Considered to be extremely laid back, welcoming, and independent. Lauren has always made her own way through life, and refuses to lean on anyone else to get her to where she wants to be. When tragedy strikes Lauren's life, everything she thought she was unravels and she's forced to face her weaknesses. While there's a lot more bark without the bite when it comes to Lauren, she's one hell of a quick learner, and she's about to develop one hell of a bite.
James Lawson (Charles Michael Davis). 30. Lawyer. James is intelligent, thorough, and a hard worker with a strong moral compass. Working at Harrison and Coates, James is considered to be one of the top lawyers in the city. Sharing his sister's passion for helping others, and fighting for justice, James will be sucked into the deep-rooted mystery behind his sister's disappearance and determined to take those responsible to court.
Adam Bennett (Jack Falahee). 27. Journalist. A genuine, nice and passionate man whose curiosity has landed him phenomenal success at Salvation News. Hobbies include cooking, ousting douchebags in the media, and watching terrible movies. But this isn't a dating ad; he's only ever had eyes for one and that's Gwen. High school sweethearts, Adam shares a long and complex history with Gwen that is about to get even more complicated.
Skyler Hawkins (Charisma Carpenter). 45. Editor-in-Chief. There's not much to say about Skyler, and not because she's some incredibly humble character, but rather that work is work and she doesn't want much to do with anyone outside of it. A thorn in every reporter's side. Skyler is a new addition to the Salvation News crew when she buys out the place as it reaches an all new level of success that makes her very interested. While she lacks the experience, she has money, and in this city, that's all you need to get whatever the hell you want.

About the show, influences, themes, and more.
First and foremost, I just want to say that I have finished the pilot. I just wanted to get a pitch down and out to get an idea of what people thought so far. I've always wanted to tackle a webisode series, and the idea of telling a story in twelve, ten-page episodes has always been appealing to me and something I wanted to try.
The first episode will definitely be jumpy, and kind of start off with what 'normal' is before the 'six month' time jump, and then establish all the changes, while that first arc will explore the conflicts that come out of these changes, and explore the mystery that kind of rests at the surface of the story from day one. This will be the kind of show where every new episode will just build from the last, rather than necessarily having a one-off, and when I get into the certain influences behind this show, you'll have an idea of where it's headed.
From binge watching Daredevil, and Jessica Jones, I was really interested in creating something that had layers, and creating something that was kind of unrealistic but in a realistic world. It also made me want to develop an antagonist that would grow and develop with each new episode, or each new arc, and that's something I set out to achieve. Orphan Black is a show that's riddled with mystery, and while I'm not looking to do something as complex as that, I am interested in setting up a universe, and world that exists outside of the norm, but instead of 'clones,' I've looked to super powers. There are certain storylines on 'Watchtower,' that I would have loved more time to enhance on, so this show kind of allows me to play around with ideas that I had to let go, or ideas that couldn't exist for as long as I wanted to work on them. Another really strong influence includes Misfits -- not for its comedy, but for it's every day people with superpowers feel to it that kind of worked outside of the comic book realm, and the 'superhero' realm. And lastly, the concept behind Heroes, and certain memories I have of being exposed to that series. So hopefully, in listing these influences, it will kind of help solidify a greater idea of what this show might evolve into.
In terms of genre, this show is more 'drama' than anything. It will be focused primarily on Gwen, her relationships with all these characters, and all the conflicts that stem from these characters' lives, to put it plainly. As the show develops, it'll have shades of other genres. There's certainly mystery involved, there'll be action, adventure, some sci fi, and I guess it has that superhero flare without having superheroes.
The first arc will be centred on the theme of 'change.' It will very much plant the seeds for future stories to stem out of but primarily focus on Gwen coming back six months later to this entirely different world for her, and exploring the conflict in how, for example, this eleven year relationship she's shared with Adam suddenly is just a friendship. It will also be explored through individual storylines for Lauren, and James. The other aspect is very focused on Gwen's new power, which carries that mystery element that rests at the surface of the show and will unfold as it continues. I haven't planned out the second arc, but I have ideas to have both arcs be mirrored in a sense, so arc two will probably explore the theme of 'acceptance.'
I don't have some grand plan with this show. I definitely know how this will bleed into a second sequence, but I kind of just want to dip my feet in running a webisode series, and take a bit of a break from writing 45-60 page scripts considering things are about to get really busy for me at the start of next year, until about May.
While all the characters seem a bit disconnected at the moment, I promise they'll all link up. Something happens to Lauren that brings her into James' world, and later into Gwen's (and a little into Adam's too). Adam and Gwen grew up together, and so John and him would share a history too. They have a storyline planned in the first arc. As for the whole 'power' aspect, I'm not turning the entire cast into superheroes or anything -- hell, this show won't form a JLA or something, or have capes and code names -- but rather I'm interesting in exploring secret projects, conspiracies, mysteries, experiments, and things of that nature that happen to include, but isn't limited to, Gwen getting this "ability."
Lastly, the reason why I've called this show 'The Fractured' is because it's not only related to the ongoing mystery that will thread throughout each sequence, but everyone is broken down from the word 'go' and exploring how every day people try to find new purpose, try to pick their pieces up and put them back together, and try to create a new 'whole' when it's kind of impossible because it's already been shattered... it just feels like something that will allow me to really focus on character growth, and development, and something I'm really interested in doing within this new format.
So those are my thoughts. This might totally not become anything. I haven't pitched something in years, and when the idea hit me I just went crazy, planned six episodes, wrote the pilot, started conceiving ideas for a sequence two, and so I thought it was worth getting out there now.
