I must say, season ten has been a bit of a disappointment. There we a few great moments, but overall, it has not lived up to my expectations. Though, the season isn't over and there's always room for improvement.
Here's hoping!

The bad thing is, for a show in its Final Season, unlike Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the core main characters of the series are missing (Chloe, Lex, Lana). And when you're down to just four series regulars, two of which are new, and one of which serves primarily as a love interest, the impact just isn't there. IMHO.
The show has always dealt with relationships, whether it be Clark and Lois, Chloe and Oliver, Lex and Lana. It never stopped and focused on just 'one' of those key relationships - but with the cast down to what it is, the season has been 80% Clois (Clark/Lois) and 20% of the main story (The VRA, Darkseid, Suicide Squad). They've spent so much time on Clark and Lois that come 'Icarus,' they had to rush all these important changes in the story to show just how huge this VRA has become - when in fact, we hadn't been shown much on the issue.
The only great thing about this season is that John Glover has come back for an episode (with three more to go). The Justice League are featured more heavily. Clark is (usually) at the center of every episode. And, on a more bias level, Allison Mack will be back for a handful of episodes. The truth of the matter is, the best actors and actresses on the show are now gone, or are only featured in fragments of episodes (like Cassidy Freeman). If I were the producers, I'd worry less about pleasing the shipper fans, and more about the 'character' fans. Those who watch for development, and good plot lines.
The sad thing is, I'm actually more excited about the guest stars, and their stories, than the regulars appearing in the majority of the episodes, if not all. Annette O'Toole, who will be back for one, possibly two episodes - is fighting against the VRA, but will probably be used as a way to pimp out the relationship between Clark and Lois. John Glover will be in three more episodes this season, appearing alongside everyone from Tess Mercer, to Oliver, even guest stars like Martha & Chloe. Which brings me to Allison Mack, who I think is the show's unsung hero - you can tell how much the show has changed with her absence, and not in the 'good' way.
For a show in its final season, being promoted as such - with the producers telling us they're pulling out all the stops - it fails to get passed the ever so rushed relationship of Clark and Lois, and continues to push away good plotlines such as the Vigilante Registration Act, the Suicide Squad, and more importantly, the Darkseid story.
I'm with you Jason, here's hoping for some damn improvement in the second half (which already looks promising when the first four episodes back include Allison Mack, and after her run, we've got John Glover back 'again!').

the season has been 80% Clois (Clark/Lois) and 20% of the main story (The VRA, Darkseid, Suicide Squad). oh i thought the main story was all about clois... really until Icarus i forgot all about Darkseid... The sad thing is, I'm actually more excited about the guest stars, and their stories, than the regulars appearing in the majority of the episodes same feeling here Which brings me to Allison Mack, who I think is the show's unsung hero - you can tell how much the show has changed with her absence, and not in the 'good' way. without her smallville has lost interest.... I'm with you Jason, here's hoping for some damn improvement in the second half (which already looks promising when the first four episodes back include Allison Mack, and after her run, we've got John Glover back 'again!'). oh i really hope so, I'm not so optimistic like you and Jason, but you know.. i prefer expect the worst and be surprised

The only good thing about Season Ten is the recurring cast members! We've got Allison Mack, John Glover, Annette O'Toole, John Scneider, Laura Vandervoort, with a possible Callum Blue return and hopefully Michael Rosenbaum by the end of the season!

That's so true. I care more about the special guest stars than the actual cast now. It's such a shame that the final season is looking so bad, so far. I'm still hoping for improvement from this point foward but, we may or may not get it.
I realllyy hope Michael Rosenbaum returns for, at least, a cameo or a short sequence of something!! I just don't think Smallville can conclude properly without the presence of Lex Luthor.

I know right! How epic! This means she'll be in the opening credits for her episodes, I think! She was listed as a "regular" for these images. And they only did the regulars (Clark, Lois, Chloe, Tess, Oliver). *dies happy*
Can't wait for friday! Here's a new promo for "Collateral!"

UPDATE Smallville has been delayed for an extra week. Why? The CW believe "The Vampire Diaries" and "Nikita" wouldn't get their best ratings on Thursday due to American Idol, and have decided to air repeats of their latest episodes Friday Night instead of the usual 'Smallville/Supernatural' back to back episodes.

Grrrr I wanna see Allison's return....dang the CW!!! After much struggle, and the CW getting many calls and complaints, we've learnt the real reason they pulled this stunt. The CW wanted to test out the Vampire Diaries in the Friday Night market for the next lineup (once Smallville is gone), and were hoping to call it "Fang Friday." Next lineup will more than likely be Vampire Diaries/Supernatural back to back episodes. Of all nights ... they had to do this when Smallville was airing?? *facepalm*

Ok...they wanted to test it out in the Friday market by airing a rerun episode from the night before? That makes total sense....in CW world I guess. I mean come on, how many people are going to rewatch the episode they just watched the night before? There is no way they could have gotten an accurate feel for how VD would do on Friday nights. I swear sometimes I think the people running the CW are complete morons.

I swear sometimes I think the people running the CW are complete morons. What sucks is there's a whole lot of people who wouldn't have heard about the news and so will probably tune in thinking "must just be a trailer or a preview or something" and before they know it, they've just added to the ratings for TVD. And then there's DVR ratings, which heaps of people on K-Site told me they couldn't stop because its already locked in to record Smallville, but instead, they'll be recording TVD and boosting their ratings. Then you have those sad, sad, sad, sad, sad people who are gonna tune in AGAIN. And last of all, those who missed the show that find out its on again and watch it. So basically, this could go either way. If TVD get heaps of DVR ratings, that's because it was us Smallville fans who got screwed over! And that is SO the reason why they did this and announced this last minute, so they could get the ratings they need for the network, the show, and the night (I assume they're trying to take down Fringe's high rating scores of late, and shows like that). TheCW officially SUCKS!!!
