In light of recent news, I've totally given up on Smallville at this point (evil eyes).

I watched "Dominion" which marked the return of Oliver Queen, who will be around for the rest of the season (only two episodes left, three if you count the finale as two episodes). It was a pretty decent episode, heavily inspired by 300 and Spartacus. Basically the premise of the story was: Clark (Tom Welling) and Oliver (Justin Hartley) travel to the Phantom Zone in order to investigate General Slade's return, only to discover Zod running a Gladiator Ring where two men enter, one man leaves. Within that story, Tess (Cassidy Freeman) and Lois (Erica Durance) has a heated argument over Clark's recent attempt at sacrificing himself for the world.
There were few enjoyable moments in this episode, but it was better than "Booster." Oliver's return wasn't explained or explored, he just 're-appeared' like nothing had happened between "Fortune" and now. The explanation for Zod was a retcon, as the Book of Rao sent the Kandorians to another plane, NOT the Phantom Zone. And the Lois/Tess subplot was created out of drama, and only drama.
What became painfully noticeable was that with a limited cast, the scenes tend to drag on for a really long time. And with there being no actual relevance for this episode, it did get boring in some areas. What made up for it was an epic fight between Clark and Oliver, Erica Durance's acting (yes, I said it!) and Zod's sinister ways.
About Erica Durance, despite my feelings on Lois and what she did this episode (I totally hated Lois this week), Erica Durance brought her A Game and delivered some of the BEST acting I've ever seen from her. You could see her frustration at Tess, then her realisation that Clark hasn't been truthful to her, followed with a little bit of embarassment, and then straight into a fierce, "take no prisoners" reaction that was just mindblowing. She was really amazing this week, her character: not so much. I know that's weird, but I respect the actors and actresses despite my feelings on their characters.
Overall, I gave this episode 6/10. It was a decent episode with a LOT of flaws.

In light of recent news, I've totally given up on Smallville at this point (evil eyes). Ok I'm almost afraid to ask...but what news? Its okay now. There was a huge scare after a Justin Hartley interview that Chloe and Oliver would break up and Dinah/Oliver will be addressed in the finale. But ANOTHER interview came out where he contradicted what he previously said.

Did anyone else just notice Lois said the wedding is in two days? That must mean that what happens "Prophecy" is all in one day.

I think "Dominion" was just amazing.....Best Callum episode ever, his acting talent is awesome. I enjoyed watching him !! he's so really sexy.... Clark and Oliver..omg.. i loved the fight scene, all the slow motion...and for a minute i really had the impression that Oliver was already taken by the darkness..perfect acting here!! I didn't liked Lois much, for once i stood by Tess, she was right about Lois's selfish reasons..but Clark really pissed me off...how he could just leave and make that huge decision without even ask her opinion? only 2 episode left...and yes Lois said only 2 days left for the weeding so i guess "prophecy" happens the day before??

So, Smallville is officially over. I'm not going to review the finale because I still haven't looked at it as an episode all on its own, as much as, the BOOK-END of an epic series. I will be reviewing the entire series soon, from start to finish, so I guess I'll leave a review of the finale one day.
I'll say one thing ... I'm totally pissed off at what they did to Tess.

I'm shocked that I don't have much to say about the finale. It did its job, and pretty well but I've got nothing good or bad to say about it. I could have gone without seeing Tess die but hey, I guess the writers thought it would be a "finale" if there wasn't at least one death. Season Ten was NOT as "Epic" as I hoped it would be. Actually, it wasn't epic at all. I think I liked what I saw of season 7, better than the final season. It delivered some good stuff but, I can't help but feel that they could have made it MUCH better.
But anyway, farewell Smallville. That's how you keep a show on the air for ten years! Though you disappointed me from time to time, I'll always look at you as one of my all time favorite television shows.

(Watching the finale as I write) Poor, poor, poor Tess. I am really feeling for her right now (and I've always loved her, but right now I'm really feeling for her). While the other cast-members are stuck in "morning-calm melody playing in the background"-land, Tess is running all over the place to her own stressed tone, trying to actually GET IN TOUCH with the others. Right now I'm feeling Tess is the star of this. This wouldn't make me pissed if I didn't know how The Finale ends for her... and the other cast members don't even FIND OUT about it? (At least not on-screen). Tess, Tess. You (and Chloe Sullivan) were the best thing about this show... stupid writers for giving you such a tragic ending, where you run around acting stressed (without ANYONE to back you up) and then die without anyone finding out (or caring, it seems). I'm seriously considering pretending the series finale never happened and give that woman the spin-off she deserves!

Yeah they should have had her leave Smallville, go to Gotham and change her name to Barbara But no, instead they kill off a perfectly good character. Eh I had very mixed feelings about the finale, the biggest one being disappointment. This show had so much potential early on but in recent years it has really gone down the pot.

I'm going to go back and review the entire series, all 218 episodes. I'd like to see which seasons are my favourite by doing this, and just to try something different on my thousandth time rewatching the entire series.

XD lmfao I'm really interested to know which is my favourite season, which are my favourite episodes, and what storyline's I like best. Its hard for me to just say "Oh, this season is my absolute favourite." I think, I've always said it was Season Five - which I think it still might be - but, yeah, its more of a fun thing to do when I'm bored and locked in my house (like I was this weekend, *stares demonically at my parents*). You should totally buy Season One and we can review it at the same time! xD (hint, hint: buy Smallville season one.) Hehehe.

After a deadly meteor shower rocks a little town called Smallville, a little boy arrives, and finds the Kents - Martha (Annette O'Toole) and Jonathan (John Schneider). Growing up, and now attending Smallville High, Clark Kent (Tom Welling) begins to learn that he's different, especially after crossing paths with Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum). Learning the truth about his arrival Clark must come to terms with his origins and accept his abilties, but can he do that in time to save his entire school from Jeremy Creek's vengeance? "Pilot" is defintely one of the best episodes this series has brought out, and cleverly introduces these characters and this universe in a beautiful, stable way. Other than Clark Kent, Lex Luthor instantly becomes one of the most intriguing characters of the show. Its evident that the producers have decided to give Lex and Clark a history together before their destined futures as arch enemies and the idea of them becoming friends first definitely solidifies one of the show's central arcs that should keep most watching week-to-week. Another great aspect, and asset to the show, is the character of Chloe Sullivan (Allison Mack) who, although doesn't play a huge role in the series opener, already begins to add a certain element to the series that gives it that extra spark. Her relationship with Pete Ross (Sam Jones III) is always fun to watch, and how they all interact in a trio just expands upon all three characters' personalities - more noticeable when Chloe introduces Clark to the "Wall of Weird." In every 'high school drama series' there has to be a "love interest," am I right? Well this role goes to Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk). A young girl who suffers from the pain of losing her parents and wears a small fragment of meteor rock around her neck - Kryptonite. "So what are you? Man or Superman?" From the comics we all know that Lana Lang is the pre-Superman love interest in Clark Kent's life, and that no matter what happens between the two it can never end well. That is also expanded upon when Lana is introduced as the woman Clark desires, but she is dating Whitney Fordman (Eric Johnson). This show is a classic, imaginative retelling of the Superman story that manages to breathe life into the iconic characters from the comics, as well as those exclusively created for the show. The main ideas shown that are guaranteed to thread throughout the course of the series is: - The Clark/Lex friendship - In the comics, Clark and Lex are mortal enemies, and the show itself has set-up a history between these two characters as they embark on a friendship that blossums out of the two saving each other's lives. Clark saves Lexs' life from the car accident on the bridge and Lex saves Clark from being strung up like a scarecrow in the middle of a field.
- The Clark/Lana relationship - As mentioned before, it can only end in tragedy, but that doesn't mean the journey getting to that awful, fated moment won't be interesting and full of twists and turns. There were many scenes that illuminated how much chemistry Tom Welling and Kristin Kreuk share, especially when the two are at the cemetery together, and its clear that Clark being the character that he is, its going to take a while before anything really happens between them. That and Lana is dating another guy.
- Destiny/Fate - This is a major theme that seems to be subtly threaded through [and as well know, becomes less subtle as the years go by] the show, especially how Lex just happened to hit Clark with his car, how Martha and Jonathan just happened to be the ones that stumbled acrossed Clark, and the other little things that, although start out as nods to the comics, or are just following the 'mythos,' its pretty clear from the start that the producers will be using that as a way to platform the destines of Clark Kent, Lex Luthor and Lana Lang.
Overall, "Pilot" is the best pilot for a television series I have ever seen. The key to a perfect pilot is to tell a story in-and-of-itself so that you not only just establish the characters and the world they live in, but you also tell a story that reels people in and has them wanting more. Ultimately, I recommened Smallville to anyone interested in a multi-genre show full of rich characters and amazing storytelling. It has its flaws, but the pilot itself is full of promise and great potential. 10/10.

No need to so sad people. I created " Metropolis", a comtinuation of the show. It contains Smallville veterans Tom Welling, Erica Durance, Michael Rosenbaum, Anette O'Toole, Laura Vandervoort, Lucas Gabreel, and Aaron Ashmore, along with very striking addtions to the cast such as Meagan Good and Seth Green. I hope theVPN picks the series up because it seems strange to have two series wich are related but doesn't have Clark or Lois in it.

After 10 seasons of Smallville, I think its a bit pointless to carry out a "Metropolis" series that focuses on Clark and Lois. We basically SAW that show in the final season, and it was terrible.

Jack, I agree with that a 100%. Although not the strongest (or best, far from it) it could, Smallville ended with Finale (which was, by the way, the worst possible title for a finale... I'm sure they could have come up with something suiting). And yes, Clois is terrible.
