thanks for the answers, Jack! It's funny you mention River Song, I was actually thinking of her when I wrote the original question about if having Hope as Fate was alwasy the end game. I've always wondered if Steven Moffat always planned from the start if River would be Amy and Rory's daughter, or if he came to it closer to the time, to tie it all together.

Just read "Smallville" and "Destiny" in one sitting. O.M.G. Seriously!?!?!? Happy Clark has his powers back/never lost them. Squealed a little at the mention of "Superboy" I love the idea/fact that Lord's ability doesn't work on meteor-infected - it totally makes a kind of sense, and gets around the fact he used it on Clark (and maybe other metas, I'm not sure?). Also, will it be explored in more detail how Lord came back? Or did I miss that somehow? With so many people dropping like flies during "Destiny", it did kinda make me go "no, he can't be killing ALL of them off, right?!" Zatanna's warning is still hanging in the air, though, so someone is still for the chopping block. I got a very big deja vu moment during Katherine's escape from prison - reminded me a lot of Faith's jail-break in S4 "Angel". Chuckled a little at Helena's quip about knowing a good lawyer. If that means more Kate Spencer, I'm all for it. Helena really is an "all in" kind of girl when it comes to relationships, isn't she?! Actually had a "WTF?!" moment with the reveal at the end with Gordon. It leaves me wondering how much else has changed in this new timeline, and who else might still be around as a result. As for the other reveal, I have to admit to being accidentally spoiled by earlier posts, so I was already prepared for it. But it also made a lot of sense - can I ask, was this always the plan? My final question is this: if Hope has 'removed' herself from the equation, as it were, and been overwritten with Archer (I LOVE THAT NAME!!), is the adult Hope still Dr. Fate? Is she protected from the change, due to the paradoxical nature of it: "how can she remove herself from time if she never existed?"

Hey everyone! I'm posting this here because I didn't want to take up space in the ChatBox, or M:SCU threads. I've been quiet on here for a few months, although I check in every day. As well as writing, I also work full-time and sometimes balancing the two isn't always easy. This has been made progressively worse by the fact that I suffer from Sleep Apnea, which may not sound too serious, but as I've discovered recently, can be if not properly treated. I've always has good days and bad days, and lately the bad days have been more often. I was rarely sleeping through the night, and this began to affect me at work, nearly falling asleep on the checkout at times, to the point where it stopped being 'funny' and threatened my work. I never really thought of the condition as a 'serious problem' until the point where my boss told me "get it sorted or you could loose your job". So, I finally bit the bullet (never been a big fan of being a patient or being sick enough to seek treatment), and I'm now actively having the condition managed via a C-PAP. I really noticed the difference, and feel SO MUCH BETTER for it. The reason I am explaining all this is that, as I said the 'bad days' have been taking over, and this has affected my writing. I needed a break from M:SCU, after slaving over script outlines. I became distracted by other non-vital projects and feeling a general malaise and lack of focus. But now I'm feeling an improvement in my sleeping pattern and my overall mental health, I'm feeling a lot more motivated. I can't make any promises as to when M:SCU will be back, I would love to release the rest of the season in one go - I have a feeling my S2 will become the equivalent of S3 Watchtower, and take a while to get done. But once I've gotten the current four episodes I've got on the go done (3 outlined, 1 partially) I will be in a better position. Darrin McCann has done some gorgeous artwork for them and the first proper M:SCU two-parter that will follow, and I can't wait for you all to read them. I love the VPN, it's been a great venue to develop my script-writing and my abilities as a writer and story-teller and have loved seeing the different series develop, and reading them has taught me so much - especially you, Jack Malone . It feels good to be back in the saddle!!

Hey Jack Malone and The Doctor thanks for your posts! Karl, I look forward to that full review! Jack, thank you for your honesty. I'll admit I was a tad disheartened when I first started reading your thoughts, but now m brain is already thinking "challenge accepted!" and is going through possible alterations. I'm glad I still have the original outline, because a couple of those scenes might come back... Personally, I don't think VOs would have been a big part of the show moving forward - having already written Eps 2 and 3 and outlined 4, they weren't even part of the drawing boards, but they came to mind as a why of 'stitching' (as you say) things together. It wasn't meant as a 'quick fix' intentionally but perhaps thats what they came out as. I'm glad you liked the Blood/Theresa scene - even if the voiceovers are replaced, I'll keep that scene in, and I think I could possibly move the Angela/Blood scene (or at least repurpose it slightly) for a later episode, perhaps 2, once I remind myself of it's running time/length. Without giving away potential spoilers... I will add that Blood may be a creep, and a little evil, but he's by no means the 'villain' of this part of the story. He's more an 'anti-hero' for the moment.

Meet the 13th Doctor!! The BBC and new showrunner Chris Chibnall have finally pulled the trigger on one of the longest running questions about a new 'Doctor', and cast actress Jodie Whittaker as the successor to Peter Capaldi when he departs in this year's Xmas Special. I personally am very excited, althought I was also taken completely by surprise!
(The following is transcribed and editted from The Telegraph)
"Whittaker, who was unveiled on Sunday as the first female Doctor Who in the programme's history, has urged fans not to be scared of her because she is a woman. She said fans must not be "fearful", added that she is a feminist who does not want to be “boxed in by what you’re told you can and can’t be”.
Whittaker, 35, revealed she had told "a lot of lies" in order to keep the announcement secret and had used the codename Clooney when discussing the role with her husband and agent. 'It feels incredible. I’ve embroiled myself in a whole world of lies which is going to come back at me when this is announced,' she said, adding that it was "nerve-racking" to keep it a secret. Asked how it feels to be the first female Doctor Who, she said: 'It feels completely overwhelming, as a feminist, as a woman, as an actor, as a human, as someone who wants to continually push themselves and challenge themselves, and not be boxed in by what you’re told you can and can’t be. It feels incredible.' 'I want to tell the fans not to be scared by my gender. Because this is a really exciting time, and Doctor Who represents everything that’s exciting about change. The fans have lived through so many changes, and this is only a new, different one, not a fearful one.'
Writer and avid fan Jenny Colgan - who has written several Doctor Who novels and audio dramas - said she was "absolutely delighted" that Whittaker was the new Doctor, describing her as "brilliant and bold and brave". Not everyone was impressed, however.
One Twitter user David Stephens said: "Sorry this is so called equality, women's rights, political correctness gone mad-Dr Who was written/created as a man! End of." Another, Clive Walton, said: "No the character is a man not a woman! As usual the BBC have to muddy the waters through political correctness that's what they do!"
Capaldi praised his successor, saying: "Anyone who has seen Jodie Whittaker's work will know that she is a wonderful actress of great individuality and charm. She has above all the huge heart to play this most special part. She's going to be a fantastic Doctor." The Doctor Who screen writer Mark Gatiss the appointment marked a “new dawn”, while Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon received the news by writing on Twitter “Welcome, madam”.

Just read the last two episodes in one go - loving the development/exploration of their magical skills, and the whole idea that Asher is a bit too logical to come to grips with the innate emotional/instinticive nature of it at first, while Evie is making progress in leaps and bounds, and Link is a kind of middle ground. It would have been nice to see Asher actually produce the flame that first time - and that leads me to add that it will be nice to see them use magic outside of training at some point. But with the webisode short format, I can understand it perhaps being unnecessary. While mentioning Asher, I love the Asher/Meredith dynamic explored in the last two episodes, and his inability to tell her what's really going on, but at least being mostly honest, even if she doesn't realize he means 'sorcery' not 'parlour tricks' when he says "magic"...

VSGuide Exclusive: Meet the Law of Winchester Bay!With the new focus on the "Winchester" reboot being a murder-mystery, the long arm of the law will be making certain appearances during the season, and VSGuide can reveal that Dennis Leary ("Rescue Me", "The Amazing Spider-Man") will be that presence!
Leary will be portraying 'Sheriff Conrad Hill', the chief of police in the small town of Winchester Bay, who is more used to the occasional under-age drunk-driving incident, or missing dog report, then a full-scale murder investigation. He is also the father to 'Lucy Hill', portrayed by Grace Phipps ("Vampire Diaries", "Nine Lives of Chloe King"), and uncle to 'Jake Farrell', portrayed by series lead Cody Christian ("Pretty Little Liars", "Teen Wolf"). Described as 'stern, tough but fair', he will have to juggle the jobs of finding a killer and the reason for a young man's death, while also helping his daughter deal with the fallout.
Leary will make his debut in the premiere, titled "The Beginning in the End".

I came to this series late - I missed out on reading the original pilot in the pitch, so I've come into this with practially no clue beyond it's a magical-based show, which is always something I'll take an interest in I wholeheartedly agree with everything Jack said above, and with Karl's succinct approval as well. I won't simply reiterate what Jack has said, because he sums up everything so well. Have you come any further with your casting? For me, I was totally getting a David Tennant vibe for Miles, especially him being Scottish and in a tan trenchcoat!

Hey Brady, thanks for popping in and adding your voice to the thread. Sadly, I've not had the time/temperament to go back over the Raven pilot of late - I've been sorting out a lot of real life stuff with work and doctors, and it's left me creatively slagged, even thought I know exactly WHAT i want to do to rework the pilot itself. Any and all 'inspiration' has been focused on the "M:SCU" S2 episodes I'm finishing outlining at the moment. Don't despair though, becuase there WILL be another version released, I just don't want to promise a deadline I may not be able to keep.

VSGUIDE EXCLUSIVE:
"Castle" Alum Molly Quinn Books Guest Role!
VSGuide has the exclusive reveal that Molly Quinn, formerly Alexis Castle of the ABC's hit detective series "Castle" will be appearing in the 7th episode of the season.
"There's a character we've always wanted to introduce into the VPNDCU from the very beginning of planning out the "M:SCU" story," revealed series creator Alex Matthews, "and Molly was always the top choice for that role. We're really excited she agreed to be a part of the family."
Regarding the character, Matthews explains that "she's a very naive and confused young woman, grieving the loss of several loved ones, completely out of her element in the big city of Metropolis that comes acropper of one of the gangs that roam the streets of Suicide Slums," but Matthews was also quick to add that "she's no damsel-in-distress, either."
