Oh Amanda will be kicking ass alright. You'll just have to be a bit patient. She goes through a pretty big change as a character throughout the course of the season.

"Sleepless in Seattle" Part One | Review
This show looks very promising to me. First of all, there's a great variety of characters, which I think will appeal to most. They're so different, and so I think people will be able to latch onto their favourites, and enjoy the show, whilst still holding their hate for some they may not particularly like.
The main character, Rick, seems to be the perfect character to primarily follow through the series. I know he's surrounded by so many others, so its not just his story we're seeing, or his reaction to everything that's going, but I feel he's very much the typical leader/hero of the story that I found very enjoyable to read. He had some really great lines and interactions.
Speaking of characters, just from the pilot, my favourites would have had to been Rick, Martha, and probably Amelia. I didn't really enjoy Crystal -- the descriptions of her cleavage, how she's a looker, and that scene where it basically focuses just on her boobs, even though its through the actions of Ty and what he's looking it, but it just makes me question how important her role on the show is. That, and her scene at the start where she complains about Rick killing a zombie for fun. I get her argument, but hey, who wouldn't wanna run a zombie over? Haha. And the obvious one, I hated Ty. But, for obvious reasons -- he's a dick. lmfao!
Anyway, the opening was very thrilling. My only complaint was, while all these characters know about the zombies, and know what they're dealing with in those aspects, for the first episode I really would have liked to see more anticipation and build up towards seeing the first zombie. Instead, they were just introduced and described pretty predictably. However, the descriptions and the graphic images of how they are being described made up for that lack of suspense/anticipation, so I can't be too disappointed with that.
I was a touch worried that there wouldn't be a clear purpose and plot for the episode, and that it would just be them on the run and dealing with zombies, and that THAT would be all we'd see. But, no, they were looking for fuel, and so I'm glad you solidified that pretty early on to make everything more relevant.
Some notes:
The script is really easy to follow. There were honestly no moments where I had to go back and read over something that I missed because the paragraphs were broken up so perfectly, and with the amount of characters there are it was a good choice to go this route.
Despite the first zombie, the encounters with other zombies throughout the episode were really exciting, and really suited the genre of the show. I particularly liked the stall confrontation that involved Rick.
There were two "relationships" -- if you could call them that -- that were sort of shown in the episode, and that was between Ryan/Taylor and Steve/Crystal. Whilst the relationship between Steve and Crystal appears to be very sexual, in that they were sneaking off for a "one for the road," I kind of wish Ryan and Taylor's would feel more of an 'epic romance' type of one in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. Their first scene where Ryan sort of comes onto her in a very obvious way just read in a sexual manner, and it didn't come off as the most geniune. I understand the circumstances they are in, and I'm not sure if its heading in the direction it seems, but I would love it if those two were less about "doing it" and had more of a growing romance in these tragic times. Unless, of course, that particular story is planned for another two later down the season/series.
Props on the action scenes. I think at certain points in the script, it went a little 'gun crazy' but it was just too exciting to read.
I don't know what else there is to say. I really enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to reading the second part of the premiere. I really hope Ty gets his ass handed to him. I like that, despite being in the middle of an apocalypse, there are still some human threats out there that need to get smacked down. Preferably soon, because Ty is an asshole, lmfao!
10/10 ~ introduced the characters, environment, premise, and relationships between these characters in an exciting, and interesting way; a great start to a promising series!

My first review! And its positive!
Its great that you like Rick. I really enjoy writing him and I'm happy he's likeable. Having the majority of the episode revolving around Rick is something alot of shows with big casts do, focus around a central character. It gives the episode a focus and I knew I wanted to do it here as well.
I can see what you mean. I really should've done more with Crystal here, but this episode really focused around Rick rather than Crystal. Still a good point though.
Fair enough. It was a way to show that this world is overrun with zombies and that they are everywhere, but I still should've had more of a build up.
The fuel plot was one of the first ideas we had for the pilot, if I remember correctly. Took a while to figure everything else out though.
That stall scene was so much fun to write. Glad you liked it.
Exactly what we were going for. It was Amin's idea actually, that particular couple.
Thing is, the story we have planned for these two is a little different from the idea you have. We may end up doing the whole "Epic love" thing somewhere down the road, but I can't say if it will be these two or not.
My bad. I doubt I'll go 'gun crazy' again, at least not in this series.
10/10? Oh god yes! Thank you! It's great that you enjoyed it! I do believe Amin and I have got a good season planned and I hope you enjoy what's to come.

Don't post in the "Episodes" thread, there is this discussion thread for that. I'm not sure how I can help with your question, though... you should be able to open the episodes without any downloading.
