Wow, thanks Karl!
Thanks. Deadshot really was out of Chloe's comfort zone, but the whole situation was. She's been through so much, and lost so many people she has loved, that when Oliver's life was on the line she completely lost it, and took control of that situation.
Yeah, I think ever since Watchtower was started back up again, things have been going so fast in her life (which will begin to slow down in the second half). The thought of losing Helena, who she just established an amazing friendship with, was shocking to her. And I really wanted to show it weighing on her heart in that scene back at the Headquarters.
Chloe and Dinah being a bit iffy was a bit of a play on the fanbase. I've been on a lot of Smallville forums during the 9th Season of Smallville, and when the topic of Chlollie started bubbling up, everyone was all "Chloe isn't Dinah. It won't last" and all this battle between two fanbases. I thought, it'd be a bit fun to lightly touch base on that, with Chloe and Dinah a bit squirmish around each other (showing that they both had Oliver at one stage, only Chloe & Oliver developed into a relationship).
But like Dinah said, she doesn't have a problem with Chloe. But is a bit upset over Oliver abandoning the league, and all of the stuff in offscreensville.
You're right. It was a set back. But it was a realisation on her part that she spent all this time trying to save Gotham, and protect them from what was going to happen, that she overlooked her team. When it came to worrying about them, she knew she couldn't lose them. And was willing to sacrifice her own life so that they could live on, and carry out their mission to stop the corruption in Gotham City.
I didn't see it as out of character, as much as, Chloe finding a flaw in her massively-flawed-plan ... and it showed how strong she was, and willing to sacrifice herself for the team. This scene here:
HELENAI can help you, and you know it.CHLOEYeah. I do. But I also know, its
better for one life to get lost
in the process, than two.
Helena shakes her head.HELENAYesterday you said you missed
working with others. That it was
nice knowing someone had your
back.CHLOEExactly. I know you won’t let the
mission die with my departure.
(beat)
Even if I come through on this,
its comforting to know...This scene acknowledged that Chloe still meant what she said, and still felt the same way as the ending in "Prey". But in this situation, she felt she had to not only save the city, but her team. And losing them was something she was not going to let happen. Although wrong in many ways, as her team could have strongly and hastily taken care of this problem with Emil, it was a right decision from Chloe's POV, to sacrifice one life, for hundreds (including her team.)
Thanks Karl. Because of the crossover event finale, we're not allowed to pull major cliffhangers, to ensure that both shows get the closure that season needs. So really, I wanted to write the fifth episode (Prey) like a penultimate, and the sixth (offline) as a finale-esque one -- with cliffhangers. Just to test the waters, as the season's to come will end with cliffhangers (if need be).
In Prey, the Darkwatch story was to lead in for the big story in "Offline" between Oliver/Emil. I wanted the audience to possibly think Oliver may have swapped sides, although I personally don't think there's enough of a dark lead in to suggest so. But, I think it worked anyway.
And Oliver will be fine. He got dragged away base. You should be worried more about Chloe, Perry, and Helena.
Thanks. Its kind of ironic as Chloe was doing the same for her in the pilot, and now Helena must become the teacher, and Chloe the student, so to speak. I'm glad she's finally a much liked character.
Helena really found her superhero roots in that episode. And when she went off to save Dinah, risking her life, it really showed that. I think Prey is posisbly my favourite episode so far, just soley on the fact that I enjoy writing Helena/Chloe scenes, and when they part ways in that elevator scene, it was such a moving moment for the two characters.
Thanks! Well I think the characters are going to have to look for her ...
Hahaha. All in good time, Karl. I know how much you're obsessed with Speedy. She gets her chance to shine in the second half, with a story I've been dying to write since the show started!
Mia has really been left the responsibility of Watchtower. For someone who was worried she didn't fit in among the team, she now is all thats left of the team. Helena is gone. Chloe catatonic. And it might take Oliver some time to get back on his "saving the world" feet.
I must admit, having Perry brag about himself to the bad guys (well what seemed like the bad guys in his story of that episode), then kicking a bit of ass, was really FUN to write. I'm glad you liked it.
It was more "ironic" than foreshadowing. He's urging her to become a great reporter so she can join the Daily Planet, and hit the big leagues, where Chloe knows thats not an option.
Honestly, Perry has come to realise that he's not in his prime days, and chasing this dream at the expense of someone who can reach their potential and achieve their dreams makes him want to stay. He would want Chloe to be working at the Daily Planet, moreso than he would like to run the place. That, and also the fact that he's invested so much time in getting Gotham Daily at the top of the city's to-read-list, and being proud of that.
Thanks. Helena and Bruce FINALLY met. Haha. I was trying to find the write moment to do that. And with such similar backgrounds, it was about damn time. Chloe and Bruce are really fun to write, because you have this dark character, and this light character (who has had some dark times), and they sort of form an even balance. As for the kiss, unlike most dramas, I didn't want Chloe urging it on -- or being "okay" with it. But she didn't want to destroy his heart by screaming at him, and I think she let him down pretty easy.
She's in love with Oliver. And not only has the triangle begun to form, but Chloe knew there's only one person she wants kissing her, and it is Oliver. As for Bruce, there'll be a lot more stuff happening with him in second half of the season.
Thanks. Well I would call his actions ruthless up until we learn of his intentions. Yes, he's evil. That's definately true. But he is really just trying to change the world, and thinks he can improve the human race. He's got a lot to learn in the second half, and there'll be a turning point from this episode on.
In that final scene, he didn't know what the future held. He thinks that he improves it, that he changes it for the better. Which is why he turned Chloe into a metahuman, and allowed her to see the future. Only what she saw is not the vision he had in mind. Although, him ruling alongside Waller may be to his liking, the world in ruins may not. So there's a lot of conflict coming their way soon.
Onto the questions:
They've worked together in the past. In the Smallville days. And Emil knows how strong Oliver is, and how he is a fighter. He wanted someone like him to lead his army.
The tower is not revealed. All the city knows is that someone is watching over them. Protecting them. And that will be explored in the remaining episodes of the season.
Mia. And Oliver.
She didn't fall asleep for the visions to happen. She's a metahuman now. One of Emil's experiments (with enhanced powers). But the consequences of Emil's experiment, and what has happened to her, and the strength of this power, will be explored when the show returns.
Not this season, no. At least, nothing has been planned with her.
Its not actually relevant to the show, so I can't answer that. But she's a hero. Something must be going on in Metropolis, so lets assume she's off saving people haha.
The moment has passed. Chloe won't be contacting Clark any time soon. As for down the track? You never know. But I don't plan on bringing Clark onto the show.
I can tell you he won't forget that Watchtower has been revealed to the world. His central arc for next half of season one is dependant on that knowledge.
Possibly. But the series won't take us out of Gotham. So we won't know for sure.
She might. It depends on if we can fit a reference in, what Chris has planned. All of that. Honestly, the only cross over thing we have at the moment is Amanda Waller (from Prototype), and the season finale. Nothing passed that has been planned among the two shows making little crossover references. So yeah, for stuff on Lana, wait for the finale.
There was really no action for them to be apart of. Their stories were more emotional than action-packed. And I didnt want to force them into any fights where it didnt fit.
You'll find out next half of the season.
This will be revealed in the spoilers section in a few weeks time.
Haha, you'll have to wait and see. But the only characters around to do it are Mia and Oliver at the moment.
Mia will be very intent on carrying on with Chloe's mission. As for rounding up a search party, you'll have to wait and see.
Lex is not apart of this story. And, what the future holds is a part of Watchtower's story, and Trinity's. Chris deserves props for the Waller-President story. Its a good one.
In the crossover.
LOL. Uhm...no.
As I've said numerous times, I may do some small "webisodes" to connect the dots. But it all depends on how Chloe leaves the show. A lot can happen in three months. I think leaving the mystery of how Smallville ties into Watchtower open is great.
The Justice League are apart of the past. And have never really been apart of her life. The only team she's been apart of is Chloe's, and so she'll want to repair that family. Instead of bringing in someone else's to help her.
Have to wait and see.
It hasn't been decided. But I'd say no loner than a month to two months. Thanks for the AWESOME review Karl. I think it'd be easier reviewing separate episodes next time haha, took me an hour replying (must have taken you hours to post it).
Thanks for the ratings as well, MUCH APPRECIATED
