I'm not too sure how many actual Star Wars fans are on this forum, but I thought it might be a good idea to make a thread. I personally cannot wait for the new films. I'm a big Star Wars fan, and I'm looking forward to seeing how they expand the universe in the next few years.

I loved Star Wars when I was little. I used to think that the movies were released in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 order, instead of 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3. Great premise, little over used

I love Star Wars! I think it is wonderful and I pray that the next set will be better than the three they made recently.

JJ Abrams set to direct Star Wars Episode 7. Wow, as if he wasn't buried in cash and publicity already. Jesus... lol. I consider this good news though! XD

I'm looking forward to this, especially seeing what kind of story the new trilogy will tells. I also wonders sometime if they will make more trilogies after this one. Star Wars Episode XXV maybe?

I hope it is actually a "new" trilogy. There are so many ways they can go with these new films, and I would really hate for them to just rehash characters/plots from the original stories. I'm hoping for something completely fresh.
*Secretly wishes they would make a film adaption of the Knights of the Old Republic video game*

Is it bad that above all else, I'm glad that Abrams is in control of Star Wars because that means Michael Giacchino will, more than likely, score the film?

Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm announced today at CinemaCon in Las Vegas that Star Wars: Episode VII will hit theaters in the summer of 2015 and that every summer after that will offer a "Star Wars" film, alternating with one of the standalone films.
We knew they were targeting "Episode VII" for 2015, but a summer date had not yet been confirmed. Also, while it was known they were working on standalone films, the fact that we'll be getting a "Star Wars" movie every summer is a new development. We don't know how many standalone films they are planning on making at this time in addition to the new trilogy.
J.J. Abrams will direct Star Wars: Episode VII from a script by Michael Arndt. --------------- My first thought was "Isn't that a little overkill-ish?" But, in the long run, I don't really care. Let them make their money, just so long as we get decent Star Wars films. So, cool if you ask me.

Hey everyone! With the Force Awakens coming out this week, I would like to just put this out here. If you see the movies, please refrain from posting spoilers about the movie. Now, I'm not saying you can't discuss it, but if you do, please make sure you put it under the "Spoiler" tag so that we are warned there are spoilers ahead. Now with that out of the way, I cannot wait for this movie, I'm very excited to see what's coming next in the Star Wars Saga. I hope everyone gets to see it soon and enjoy the awesomeness that is from JJ. Now, if Jar Jar shows up, I'm going to NOPE so hard out of that theater.

I don't even feel comfortable posting thoughts in 'spoiler' tags in case it loads funny and ruins the movie, so everything will be vague on my end in respect of those who weren't privileged enough to see the film as soon as it was released. All I wanted to say was that this movie was incredible. Personally, I went into the film only really wanting to see the original characters, and came out of the movie absolutely in love with all the new cast of characters and really excited for the next instalments because of them and their journey as opposed to Han, Leia and Luke. They managed to capture the essence of 'Star Wars' in a way that made me really nostalgic and I'd often catch myself smiling like an idiot at scenes that weren't even overly joyous or funny, it was purely because it felt like 'Star Wars.' Speaking of humour, this was the funniest damn 'Star Wars' film they've made, and it all came from personality, and character, which was amazing. Lastly, I've seen criticisms of it being too similar to 'A New Hope,' or having qualities that some might refer to as 'fan service.' I couldn't disagree more. I think there were obvious parallels to 'A New Hope,' but the story was new, and in terms of 'fan service,' so much happened that I appreciated as great storytelling but wouldn't have gone, "I really want this to happen," so I'm confused by those arguments. But each to their own. Honestly, I think if 'Empire Strikes Back' is the quintessential 'Star Wars' movie, and represents the best of the lot, then this one could easily be considered the second best of the series. That's how much I liked it. JJ Abrams did this 'Star Wars' fan proud

I've been rewatching the movies in preparation for the new film, and the main saving grace of the prequels for me is Obi Wan Kenobi. I love him so much. Also...
Jar Jar Binks > Anakin Skywalker
