I'm so glad you enjoyed it so much, and I can't wait to see what you thought/think of part two. I'll give your review a full response in the next hour or two. ^^

I loved it! I'm sorry if my review is a bit crummy, I was sitting in so much heat - I was about two second's away from dying, or melting into my chair, lol. But omg. I've missed Melanie so much. She deserves her own webisode spin off mini-series about saving crimes in New York or something! Hahaha. Love her!

The review wasn't crummy at all! Even if it was, I'd appreciate it regardless. I love getting your reviews! This one was definitely a highlight to a rather shitty day. I haven't been feeling well lately, which totally sucks. But, this definitely made me feel better! XD
Melanie is so much fun to write, omg! I actually wouldn't mind doing a mini-series spin-off...I could possibly work with her origins...hm. I will have to think on that XD That could be really, really fun.

Extract: "Legacy" (part one) ~ Act TwoEUPHORIA (to Marvel Girl) Just some FYI, you need to work on your mental blocks, especially around another telepath. I do not appreciate your thoughts. MARVEL GIRL crosses her arms over her chest. MARVEL GIRL (V.O) (telepathically to Euphoria) My mental blocks are just fine, Ice Bitch.
This scene made me piss myself laughing. I love Jean's nickname for Euphoria. Ice Bitch is just so hilarious for some reason. Every time I read it in the script, of which I think it only showed up like 2-3 times, I laughed. And I hope no one saw me accidentally post this in Trinity's spoiler section <.< I felt like a fool. Haha.

Euphoria also has a nickname for Jean coming up in a few episodes that, if you liked "Ice Bitch", you'll probably like the next lmao! And I didn't notice you did it, but that's hilarious LMAO!

*DIES* Thank you Jack. Jean is highly unamused with Euphie and I'm glad you like her reaction even though it was hostile ^-^

Wow. What a fantastic episode. This episode was very character driven, I felt, and spotlighted a huge milestone for the team -- they became the X-Men. It seems a triangle has formed between MJ, Melanie, and Gwen, which proves to be incredibly interesting. And the Brotherhood and the X-men finally come face to face with an interesting turn of events that brought Magneto into the picture. I'm excited to read on. Honestly, the only downfall of this episode was its length. I felt there were several scenes that dragged on too long, despite enjoying them. The first half of the episode felt great though -- you introduced the main threat in the teaser, and then got into the birth of the X-Men, and the assigning of codenames. They were born. It kind of felt like two episodes in one, which is ironic as its part one of a two parter episode ... but I felt that a lot of scenes could have been cut short to keep everything more tightly bound and given the audience a better sense of what this episode was about and where it was heading. I knew from the start that this episode was probably going to be a long one (though, even I didn't expect it to turn out to be THAT long). Once we started hitting 70 and we were quite done, I knew there were gonna be some issues. So, after we finished the actual episode I went back and cut a lot of the scenes and even cut down on some of the ones that did stay. It went from 85 pages to...78 or something, I think? But yeah XD It was a long episode, but I tried my hardest to cut it down. I'll try a little harder next time, but most of it was due to the fact that some of the stuff, while not entirely relevant to that particular episode, was something that would come up later. I think those took up a good majority of the scenes that otherwise could have been cut. It was very fast paced, and it slowed down about halfway through, which gave time for some great focus on Melanie, but it sort of got dealt with in too many scenes. This leads me to -- -- I seriously can not decide who I think Melanie should get with. I love her chemistry with Mary-Jane, and I love their spunky attitude towards one another. Its very fun. But with Gwen, its like one of the sweetest relationships ever. I think Melanie deserves someone who loves her back, but with MJ sort of returning those feelings, I'm more confused than ever as to which direction I want Melanie to go. This sort of helps us, as the audience, connect with Melanie, as she seems to be confused about what she wants too. At first, I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about this entire triangle thing (which wasn't planned from the beginning, but definitely turned out to be quite an interesting subplot) but over the last few episodes, I've come to enjoy writing it. That said, I'm glad that you're enjoying it so much! I think you'll like how it ends up unraveling (or rather, further twisting?) through the rest of the season. Speaking of which, I think I'm going to start shipping Euphoria/Kristen. Lmao dammit! Not you too! -dies- Just kidding XD I think Kristen and Euphoria are the one shipping that I can't bend on. I've never liked Scott/Emma in the comics, so I can safely say that we won't be seeing anything romantic between those two. They will, however, form some sort of relationship over the season. There were many moments in this episode I want to talk about. There was so much to love. First of all, although Jean came off rather agressive in her hate towards "Ice Bitch" -- that should totally be Euphoria's codename, though -- her emotions were very real, and the way they were dealt and handled with was amazing. I loved that scene between Jean and the Professor. Its definitely one of my favourites from the season. Lmao! Ice Bitch as Euphoria's codename? It would definitely fit, wouldn't it? XD Jean's feelings for Euphoria, particularly the initial ones, were really important in establishing the relationship between those two. We wanted to keep the rivalry that the fans of the comics are used to, and with the love triangle completely absent, Jean's personal emotions were a key to making the mostly-hostile relationship between the two of them work. That said, I'm glad that you liked it and how it was dealt with. It was definitely interesting for us to write and explore it. All of Gwen's scenes were just freakin' adorable. I love her to bits. I loved the whole Danger Room training session scene. I think it was great to see them all together, kicking butt and saving lives. But I loved their confrontation with the Brotherhood at the end of the episode more because there was so much build up towards it. I have been itching to write the full-on teamwork, kicking ass and taking names scenes since the first episode, rofl! So finally getting to do it was pretty awesome and I'm glad that you've liked it so far. The Danger Room was a particular favorite of mine to write, though I can't exactly pinpoint why exactly, I just know I really enjoyed it. Gwen got a lot more spotlight in this episode (finally) because I've finally found my inspiration for her and the fact that you love her is really encouraging, considering that I questioned myself a lot with her XD But what I've got now has definitely stuck with me and I look forward to continuing to write for her. Also, props on Mystique. The writing for her is just brilliant. Most of the time, Maddie is the genius behind Mystique. She definitely couldn't be done without her on board XD I love that you like her though, she's definitely one of the best villains ever and it means a lot that we seem to be doing her justice. I just want to tell you how much I admire your descriptions, and your action. So much time and effort is clearly spent on creating the perfect setting, and describing every little beautiful detail of the scenes that I can't help but not mention it in the review. I love it. The writing of these scripts is just magnificent, I felt its only right to praise you for it. Aww, thanks Jack! Writing these scripts is so much fun and I get so caught up in it and in the scenes that I absolutely have to get the entire visual onto the page. XD I'm kinda OCD like that. It's one of my favorite aspects to doing these episodes. It's definitely encouraging and great to hear that you like it so much. Thanks again, Jack Overall, this was another brilliant episode of 'The Outcasts.' If I were to make any suggestions ... be careful of the length of your scenes, and how long your ACTS last. When it comes to deciding what's important, look at the main plot, and occassionally the second plot. Anything that extends, or moves away from that is something that should be considered to be removed. I know its hard with the amount of characters, and the great stories you can tell with them, but its just something to consider. Nevertheless, I think this was a pretty close-to-perfect episode. 9/10. I'll definitely take that into consideration during the next episodes. Like I said, I tried to cut it down as far as it would go but it was difficult in certain places and I do apologize for the length. Your feedback is always both encouraging and motivating, and we take each bit of it to heart when writing the next episodes. Thank you so much for another great review, Jack, we really appreciate it! ^^

Oh my God. I just found a HUGE formatting error in "Legacy (Part Two)". I'm taking the episode down temporarily, and I'll post again when I put it back up. God I'm an idiot. XD

Alright, episode is back up. To access the updated one, go to "S1 Episodes" and click the link from there, don't click the one on the sidebar. It still works, but it's the incorrect version. Sorry about that. XD

I dunno if she'll get on to see this or not, but I just wanna say a big happy birthday to one of my best friends, and the awesome freelance writer for The Outcasts, Miranda Kilgore! Love you, Randi!

Scott and Emma are okay. Monica has done a job of warming me up to them, but I will still always prefer Jean/Scott over Emma/Scott. And, in turn that will be reflected in the Outcasts. However, Euphoria and Kristen will be close in other ways that are not romantic. I CAN say though, that if Outcasts is renewed, Euphoria will be a key player in a triangle that closely mirrors the triangle between Emma/Scott/Jean.
