Interview Exclusive: Peregrym talks "finale", reboot! With an official air date rumored to be made soon, VSGuide caught up with "The Outcasts" star Missy Peregrym, who plays the fan-favorite Spider-Girl. In our interview, she dishes on some very important spoilers for the final two episodes of the show's current run, and shares some things with us about the show's impending reboot. VSGuide: The producers have already said they're going to throw this run out with a bang and have some fun with it. We've gotten some details on it, but what can you tell us about your character? How does Spider-Girl fit into the "big bang"?PEREGRYM: She's right in the center of it, as always [laughs]. She's not really a central character in "A Southern Touch", but the finale is all about them coming together for each other. The X-Men, Spider-Girl -- even the Brotherhood. It's one big mash-up of mutants and Spidey and chaos and craziness. VSGuide: The Brotherhood? Just what exactly is going to go down that gets everyone to team up together?PEREGRYM: Well, something happens in the first of the last two episodes that really unsettles the public. They see it the wrong way and it's immediately a mutant hatefest. Like, it's a really awful time to be a mutant in the final episode. When these like, militia people come out of the woodwork the mutants kind of have to work together -- all of them, you know? And those guys are Spidey's people, she's not going to sit back and watch them get hurt. VSGuide: We all know that the Goblins were supposed to be a huge threat, but the storyline got cut short because of the abrupt decision for a reboot. Will they be involved with this final story?PEREGYRM: Very much so. One of them is actually going to be in the center of it all. The only thing I can really confirm as far as their involvement goes is that one of the Goblins blows the X-Jet up with all of the X-Men inside. VSGuide: On that note, we've been told at least two characters are going to meet their untimely demise in these last episodes. Can you allude to who it's going to be?PEREGRYM: Are you kidding? The producers would kill me [laughs]. Umm, well, at least one of them is a mutant and one of them isn't, if that helps. Both of them are fan-favorites, but may or may not be actual "heroes". VSGuide: Several fans are worried that the producers plan to kill off Gwen Stacy. Any comments on that? Do they have anything to worry about?PEREGRYM: Yes. No. Maybe. A Stacy does die, but it could be Gwen, it could be Captain Stacy or it could be Jill. There is a one-third chance that Gwen Stacy will die in the finale. VSGuide: Fans have also questioned whether certain relationships will be forged and if the love triangle between Melanie, Mary-Jane and Gwen will come to a close. Anything you can give us a peek on?PEREGRYM: Yes to both of those. Not gonna give any real details, but let me just say the triangle ends pretty epically. But it could be epically good or epically bad. Well, bad in a "wow that sucks for them" kind of way, not legitimately bad, like horrible idea kinda bad. Let's just keep it at "epically". VSGuide: Will the triangle come in to play in the reboot?PEREGRYM: Definitely, there is no question about it. It might be tackled a different way, and will definitely end a different way, but we'll be seeing it again. Gwen Stacy, Mary-Jane Watson and Spidey practically beg for a triangle. Plus, it was something the fans really enjoyed the first time around. Why not give it a new spin and throw it at them again with another look? VSGuide: Speaking of the reboot, what can you tell us about the "new" Spidey?PEREGRYM: There isn't really a "new" Spidey. The characters are staying pretty much the same as far as those who are still on the cast. The fans weren't the only ones who fell in love with these characters. I don't think I could play Spidey any other way. [laughs] I can say though, she's getting a little more of that teenage attitude. She's teenage girl who gets picked on at school by one her best friend's "clique" members and has to balance being the nerd and a vigilante while dealing with that. She is bound to have some attitude issues. VSGuide: Anything else you want to tell us before we wrap this up?PEREGRYM: Prepare for an unexpected ending. That's all I can say. There you have it! Producers say the an official air date should be decided in the next two weeks as production of the last episode is completely underway. Excited? Nervous? Sound off below!

I would hate to see Gwen die, but knowing that this is a mock-finale, and the reboot is on its way makes me less worried, because if she does die, I'll get to see her again. But still... seeing her die would be like a knife to the gut. Ugh. Hope it doesn't happen. Really excited for the finale, though. Its gonna be spectacular. Pun intended. *cheesy grin* Spectacular Spider-Girl. Heh. Maybe even ASTONISHING - okay, I'll stop. I'm excited for it! XD

Knowing there is a reboot on the way is the only reason I'm allowing myself to go batshit crazy with this finale. There are things that are going to happen that I would -never- do if this were the REAL series. I really hope it has the effect I'm aiming for, though. XD

While we've decided the finale will not be a two-parter episode, it will be a longer-than-usual episode. "A Southern Touch" will air first, then the finale which will be around 90 pages-ish. Maybe a little shorter and maybe a little longer, but it won't be enough to split it into two adequate episodes.

Due to some issues I've been dealing with, I recently started over on the mock-finale in order to get a fresh start and a new look at it because it wasn't going as well as I'd hope. I was almost finished, but the story wasn't working for me so I've gone with a tweaked one. However, everything concerned character deaths, the X-Men/Brotherhood team up, all of that is still going to happen, just under altered circumstances. I'll be posting some spoilers up for it later, but I thought I'd pop in and let you guys know why it hasn't aired yet.
I apologize for the ridiculous delay, and I hope to be announcing a new, final airdate soon. Thanks for holding in here with me guys.

Changed "Phoenix Force" to the "Phoenix" in the spoilers, since I view them as two separate things and the "Phoenix Force" isn't really what's present in this series.

EXCLUSIVE: The Age of Heroes...Over? You might have noticed that in the wake of numerous changes on the network, "Age of Heroes" was removed from the VPN's line-up and the showrunner has stepped down from the network. VSGuide recently sat down with the series' former executive producer, and current showrunner of the series' sister show "The Outcasts", Aimee Nicole. She discusses the details behind the sudden cancellation and touches on the future of the VPN's Marvel Universe as a whole. VSGUIDE: Why did the showrunner decide to cancel the show? It was really sudden and unexpected. AIMEE NICOLE: The cancellation was really sudden, and caught me off-guard. I'm not happy with it, I don't know the details, nor do I really care to at this point, but I understand where Maddie [Funderburg] is coming from and I respect her decision. I completely stand by her side in her decision to step down from the network. She was one of the most dedicated people on the VPN and I feel like the network has lost a great person with her departure. She worked hard on "Age of Heroes", which I feel would have been a fantastic addition to the growing line-up, and she put so much effort into helping with "The Outcasts" that I honestly have no idea how she does it all. VSGUIDE: Now that she's gone, will you be hiring on another executive producer for "The Outcasts"? AIMEE NICOLE: Absolutely not. While she's not part of the network, she is still very actively involved in the production of "The Outcasts". The show wouldn't be the same without her. VSGUIDE: How does the loss of "Age of Heroes" affect "The Outcasts"? AIMEE NICOLE: Unfortunately, quite a bit. But we're both dedicated to making sure the appropriate changes are made to make it work. The shows were very closely tied together, so of course some things are going to change. Luckily, we have time to make adjustments as the reboot comes into full production in the next few weeks and the major changes were in the seasons to follow and not the current one. VSGUIDE: The final installment to the VPN's Marvel Universe, "Nightstalkers" was recently shelved as well. Was this related to the cancellation of "Age of Heroes" as well? AIMEE NICOLE: Partially, yes. The plan for the Marvel Universe here on the VPN started with "The Outcasts". "Age of Heroes" was the next full series to enter the universe and the "Nightstalkers" was going to be a webisode series to explore the sides of the universe that we needed, but couldn't explore in-depth on either of the two main shows. But now that we've lost "Age of Heroes", "Nightstalkers" doesn't seem needed anymore as we're now only working with the "X-MEN" and "Spider-Man" mythos. We'll of course see other elements of the Marvel Universe come up in "The Outcasts", but it won't be in-depth. The other reason was more personal, something that neither of us really wish to discuss. Will it come back in the future? Maybe. I can't make any promises, and I apologize to anyone who was looking forward to seeing if it'd be picked up to series or not. VSGUIDE: You say that "Nightstalkers" might come back in the future. Can the same be said for "Age of Heroes"? AIMEE NICOLE: To be honest with you, I don't know. There is always a possibility, and Maddie and I have agreed to discuss them when the time is right. But right now, I don't want to get anyone's hopes up. We sincerely apologize to anyone who was looking forward to "Age of Heroes". VSGUIDE: Will we see any characters or stories from "Age of Heroes" incorporated into "The Outcasts" at all? AIMEE NICOLE: Like I said before, we'll probably explore other mythos in "The Outcasts", but it won't be in-depth or majorly focused on. But you'll see guest appearances from the Avengers and the Fantastic Five from time to time. Maddie and I intend to keep them as part of the universe whether they are a major presence or not. There you have it folks! The future of the VPN's own Marvel Universe and the fate of "Age of Heroes". How do you feel about the news? Questions? Comments? Sound of below!

I was wondering what happened to Age of Heroes with all of the recent changes to the network. While I am sad to see the show go before it was able to premiere, I respect the decision by Maddie and all parties involved. I hope to see some of the characters on The Outcasts reboot. I hope everyone is doing well despite this news and best of luck as the final episode and reboot are continued.

Because there are people out there who LOVE this series. Me being one of them Aww, Karl! <3 I totally love you too, and you're awesome. I definitely wasn't expecting this, but it totally made my day. I'm trying really hard to get the series back on track, since it's been horrible since everything fell apart back in November. Right now, it's just Maddie and I working on it and we're both going through some trouble with it right now. But we're doing our best to get to together so we can continue it for you guys. Thanks so much for the kind words, Karl, they mean a lot.
