PICKING UP THE PIECES - SEASON PREMIERE. The S.C.U. scrambles to pull itself together while dealing with the mass panic caused by a series of unexploded Toyman robot bombs throughout Metropolis. Maggie (series star Jill Teed) and the team must put aside their own emotions while working to stop major devastation as the Toyman robots continue counting down to destruction. Ralph Dibny (Fred Weller) confronts a killer at Metropolis General, while Danny (David Patkaeu) is forced to team up with the hotheaded and reckless Detective Patricia Trayce (Katee Sackhoff) in order to save Mayor Frank Berkowitz (special guest star Anthony Michael Hall). Chris Lowell, Fran Kranz, Tembi Locke and Felicia Day also star.

- "Everyone's focus right now is the bomb threats to the city," explained Creator Alex Matthews to VSGuide, "so there is a lot going on when we come back, as all those situations and loose ends are tied up."
- Harry Lennix, Kelly Rowan and Jaime Ray Newman return in their recurring roles as 'Commissioner Mike Henderson', 'Toby Raines' and 'Whisper A'Daire' respectively.
- Many of the guest stars from the previous season's finale will return for this episode, due to the two-part cliffhanger nature of the story being told. This includes Mark Pellegrino as 'Vic Sage', Chris Gauthier as 'Toyman', David Tennant as 'Oswald Loomis', Orny Adams as 'Dr. Dabny Donovan' and Sean Maher as 'Johnny Denetto'.

IS IT A BIRD? IS IT A PLANE? - Sightings of Superman have reinvigorated the hopes of Metropolis’ citizens, as a familiar red/blue blur speeds around the city helping people in trouble, and keeping the peace, but is it all it seems? Maggie (series star Jill Teed) is stunned when she finds herself approached by Mayor Berkowitz who is in need of a favour. Kitty’s (Felicia Day) new relationship with Vincent begins to blossom, and Wally's (Fran Kranz) friendship with his physical therapist deepens as changes in the command structure of the S.C.U. lead to Danny (David Patkaeu) getting some troubling news regarding his career prospects while also dealing with his volatile new partner, Patricia Trayce (Katee Sackhoff). Chris Lowell, Tembi Locke and Fred Weller also star.

- Niall Matter, of "Primeval: New World" and "Eureka" fame, has signed on to guest star as 'Vic Gover'. and will play a significant role throughout the episode. Most of his interactions will be with Jessica Alba's still-unnamed character and Fran Kranz's 'Wally West'.
- "There will be a three-month time jump," series creator Alex Matthews told VSGuide, "which allows us to move on from most of the fallout from the Toyman-robots destruction, but also allows us to dive right in with where our character now are."

CASTING A SPELL - ANGELICA CELAYA GUEST STARS AS DC COMICS "LA ENCANTADORA". Danny (series star David Patkaeu) and Trayce (Katee Sackhoff) investigate an attack of a museum worker, only to be told it's part of a series of seemingly unrelated incidents and accidents, and that all of the victims were part of an archaeological expedition in Mexico that was accused of grave robbing. They track down the last member of the team, Dr. Barbara Minerva (guest star Debrah Farentino), who is convinced they have awoken an ancient curse, and that she is to be the final target. However, Maggie’s (Jill Teed) new political connections reveal more information about what happened, and the S.C.U. team realise that Minerva is not telling them the whole truth.

What should have been an enjoyable Christmas becomes anything but when Mayor Berkowitz‘s annual Christmas party is mysteriously attacked, leading concerns that he is being targeted. Maggie and her team investigate, while Wally is reunited with an old friend, but finds himself caught up in events out of his control, as the Pied Piper of Keystone City comes to play in Metropolis for the holiday season. Todd welcomes his sister Jennifer back to town.

STAR LIGHT, STAR BRIGHT - A simple date between Kitty (series star Felicia Day) and Vinnie (guest star Eddie Cahill) becomes a nightmare when they are attacked, and Kitty is kidnapped by a meta-human monster. While the S.C.U mobilise to find their comrade, Kitty wakes up to find she isn’t the only one being held against their will, and that the ’monster’ is in fact an alive Daniel Brickwell (special guest star Christopher Judge), mutated by ’starlight’, who wants his captives to create a ‘cure’ for his condition. Investigating her abduction, the team are lead to Agent Faraday (guest star Alex Carter), who may be able to help in more ways then they realize. DEATH STALKS SUICIDE SLUMS - Maggie (series star Jill Teed) is happy to reunite with former Metropolis Detective John Jones (special guest star Phil Morris), who needs help investigating the disappearance of a scientist he worked with in the past. As Maggie helps him in his investigation, Dibny and Trayce deal with a series of killings of gang members in Suicide Slums, the victims torn apart by something strong and fierce. Meanwhile, Danny's (David Paetkau) situation with his 'stalker' finally comes to a head, while Todd (Chris Lowell) is shaken when he is told some shocking news by Kitty (Felicia Day). Tembi Locke, Fran Kranz, Fred Weller and Katee Sackhoff also star.

While Wally (series star Fran Kranz) gets to live his dream and meet the star of his favourite TV show, “Zenya: Warrior Priestess”, for Todd (Chris Lowell), it leads to a surprising encounter to a face from his past, when he runs into his ex-boyfriend, Tom Jagger (guest star Luke Macfarlane).

The S.C.U. is tasked with fortifying the Metropolis Museum when it plays host to an ancient artifact on loan from the Atlantean people, while the city itself prepares for the arrival of the first official visit from Atlantis, attending a diplomatic summit. Kitty re-evaluates what she wants out of her career at S.T.A.R. Labs, while Dibny finds himself dealing with a spectre from his past as he investigates rumours of a particularly infamous gang of thieves having arrived in town.

EXCLUSIVE: Peter Facinelli Joins Reocurring Cast!
Meet Metropolis' Newest Medical Examiner!

The first reveal of the upcoming sophmore season of the action/adventure pseudo-procedural show is that Peter Facinelli ("The Twilight Saga", "Nurse Jackie"), known to audiences for his role as 'Maxwell Lord' in CBS' "Supergirl", will be popping up sporadically throughout the second season as a new member of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Series creator Alex Matthews says that there are plans to explore the family and relationships of each and every member of the original cast in more detail throughout the season, "Going into the 2nd season, we realised we needed to get Beth out of the morgue and into the real world. By introducting a new medical examiner, just as shows like "Castle" did, we'll see Beth does not only have a social life, but a romantic one as well!"

When VSGuide asked for any details on the character Facinelli is cast to play, Matthews revealed that his name is 'Anthony Petrelli', a seemingly original character who is actually very much based on an existing DC Comics character, "There is a definite story in mind for Tony Petrelli, that will carry on through the character's appearances through the 2nd season and hopefully beyond. He's been through the ringer before arriving in Metropolis, so he'll be very guarded and distant at first when we meet him. Spending time with our characters will help him break down those walls, and we'll see him grow and open up as his relationships develop."
Facinell is signed on for an unknown amount of episodes, but is said to debut in the as yet untitled 2nd episode.

Sounds like a very interesting character being added to the mix. I had a lot of fun crafting Kyle in 'Watchtower' to have his own original storyline that lead into an existing DC Comics Character, and so I'm sure you must be excited about doing something similar. Not to offend the actor, but he does give off quite a creepy vibe with his eyes, so I'm not sure if I'll necessarily trust this one easily but looking forward to what you do with the character and who he ends up being from DC Comics
