That being said I refuse to see Batman opening weekend in hope Avengers can hold onto its records XD. I'm kind of stuck. The DC fan in me hopes Batman tops The Avengers, but the Joss Whedon fan in me doesn't. I don't know what I want. lol!

Broke my rule about going to see The Dark Knight Rises BEFORE watching The Amazing Spiderman. Saw it tonight, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised.
Since I heard they were rebooting Spiderman, I admit I was very skeptical. Going into this movie, I expected to come out disappointed, but that's not what happened. While I really enjoyed the previous films, I'll have to admit that I enjoyed this new one as well. I won't say one is better than the other, but they are different, in a few ways.
For one, Andrew Garfield's portrayal of Peter Parker was outstanding. In my opinion, he was much more likable than Tobey McGuire. I won't get into that much detail about the film, because it's late and I'm kind of tired, but I liked this movie, a lot more than I thought I would. Gwen Stacy was awesome, and I may go as far as saying I think I like her more than MJ in the previous movies. Wow. Never thought I'd say that.

Now, if only Gwen could take the "Chlois" theory, and after "MJ" dies, she takes up the name, and she and Peter can live happily ever after. Hahaha. But no, I'm pretty sure the producers and all that said this trilogy showcases the relationship between Gwen and Peter. So I don't think MJ is going to be in this trilogy (which I don't mind because she already got three films).

I still have not been able to sit through the sequel. Not sure if Iron Man 3 is even an option for me right now, ahaha. Although, an Avengers sequel - now THAT I would watch. XD

Unfortunately (or fortunately...depends on your take) Marvel is tying all the movies together XD. If you don't watch the others you don't understand parts of Avengers. I personally LOVE the Iron Man movies.

Annnnd this! So, obviously, Bucky didn't die. Which, if you know Captain America you would know that already, but...yeah.

Jack, you HAVE to watch Iron Man 2. I need to rewatch it, though, so I can't really talk. But the Iron Man movies really are awesome.

The first Iron Man movie was great. The second... it never fails to put me to sleep. And I watched Captain America a couple weeks ago. I'm hoping the sequel is much better than the first one. I did not like "The First Avenger". That's probably my least favourite Marvel film (out of the new ones). I still need to see Thor, though. If only for Natalie Portman. XD

I personally LOVE the Iron Man movies. They'll tie in, sure. But they won't limit their audience like that, in that you have to see all these other films to understand this one. I understood the first Avengers movie, and I had only seen Iron Man (and bits of Iron Man 2). I don't really count The Incredible Hulk.

I wouldn't be so sure, Jack. XD They also want money, remember that. I understood the first Avengers movie as well, but I'm gonna try to make it a point to watch all the new ones in anticipation for Avengers 2. I personally LOVED the Captain America movie, and this coming from someone who hated Cap just a few months ago. I think all the movies are good in their own way. Though I haven't seen Thor or Hulk, and I don't think I will EVER see Hulk. But I will definitely watch Thor, probably tonight or tomorrow since it's on Netflix.

No, I mean I know they'll have their references and callbacks and little nods like they did in The Avengers. But there's no way they can make an entire film that requires an audience member to have seen a series of all these other films just to understand this one. That would limit the audience, and I think they'd be pretty stupid to do that. The Avengers sequel would have its own storyline, and if there's anything major in the other movies that needs to be known for the sequel to work, they'd show it in the film (in one form or another) to make sure people would get it.
EDIT: For example, in Avengers they had that tesseract thing. I didn't even know it was in a previous film, and I still understood the plot because they briefly skimmed over it.

I agree with you there Jack, all I said was that to not miss out on certain parts and understand ALL of it seeing all the movies is preferable. I know people who didn't see Thor and some parts of the movie were confusing.

I know people who didn't see Thor and some parts of the movie were confusing. Well, that's cool. I seemed to manage without seeing the other films, so I can't say I had a bad experience with the Avengers at the cinema. I would just rather wait and see a sequel to the Avengers than sit through sequels of Iron Man, Thor, and Captain America.

-groans- What the hell even, Marvel? Like, no one gives a rats ass about the Guardians of the Galaxy!!! The ONLY reason I know who they are is because 1) Rocket Raccoon teamed up with Scott and Jean's daughter once and 2) They were in an episode of Earth's Mightest Heroes. I know Avengers 2 is more than likely going to be about Thanos, which means they NEED to bring in the Guardians of the Galaxy (well, not NEED but there is a huge storyline involving them and Thanos and the Avengers or something??) but omfg. Do we really need an entire movie? Seriously.

I'm glad there will be an Ant-Man movie. Henry SHOULD have been in the Avengers. And of course with Henry entering Janet will also.
