This looks 10x better than the original trilogy they put out. I felt they wrapped the last one up pretty well (even though the third film sucked ass), because it was that Harry/Peter friendship that deteriorated more and more with each film until they grew to become enemies...
This new trilogy looks MUCH darker! And Gwen Stacy is in it. So, it has me sold. LMAO.

In my head, it's not the fact that the original Spiderman movies were better or worse than the new; it's just the fact that there are hundreds or Marvel heroes/characters that have yet to be portrayed in a film, and they keep going back to characters Hollywood has already covered. I just wish they could expand more, and re-hatch less.

I think Marvel has translated the majority of its popular characters or 'titles' to film. I'm not sure what other characters under their belt they could devote an entire film for, but I see your point (especially when Spider-Man is being rebooted so close to the conclusion of its first trilogy). But I have no problem with this particular reboot because it is much darker, and looks so much different than the original (hell, Mary Jane isn't even in it!)

I think if they made movies of not as well known characters and gave them really good scripts it could work...there are a couple characters I'd like to see in movies as long as they were done well.

Exactly. It's all about putting in the work, doing the research and taking risks, which is something I think we need to see more of, not just in Marvel movies, but in general. With making movies about lesser known characters, there's always risk that it probably won't do so well, but if a film is good, a film is good. The character it's based on and their popularity among fans should not change that, which can also be said about a popular character, and a shit script *cough* Batman and Robin *cough*

Yeah, I agree with that. But, when it comes to these pre-established characters in the comics, if there isn't a fanbase for them, then translating that unpopular/disliked/unknown character into films could be a huge waste of money, good script or not. I wish TV and Films did take more risks so we wouldn't have the same recycled garbage each year, but when it comes to money, it makes sense they'd invest in well-known ideas/characters that they know people are gonna tune in to watch/buy. Its always been like that with comic book films.
They're never gonna stop making Spiderman films, much like I think they'll never stop making Batman films. I think, as long as they play around with the concept, and make it their own, then I don't have a problem with these reboots. And ANYTHING beats Batman and Robin, LMAO.

To be fair Iron Man's fan base was starting to shrink until the movie came out. I think with a good movie you may be able to kick start a fan base. Dare Devil was also lesser known...if they had tried harder his movie may have been more of a success. Then again that just may be my hopeful fan-ness coming out because I wanna see a movie with my favorite heroes even though people don't know them.

Christopher Nolan will have on involvement in the Justice League film that is currently being written by Will Beall -- does anyone know who that guy is? But yeah, Nolan, you just crushed my dreams. XD And Zack Snyder -- director of Man of Steel -- has said that Henry Cavill's Superman will have no involvement in the project. And with Christian Bale finished with Batman, one can only hope who will take his spot.
And with Man of Steel coming out next year, and will more than likely have a sequel, or a trilogy, and with the Justice League script currently being written, it seems to me that there will be more than one Superman. >.> Okay, DC, you need to get your crap together. XD

As much as I hate to admit it, DC needs to take a look at Marvel, and do exactly what they do for the next 3 years or so. lol

The Amazing Spiderman
It's been years, and still the memory of a dancing Peter Parker is burned in my mind. Thankfully, this movie comes and fixes some of the damage caused by that scene.
I was initially hesitant of the film, seeming like a cheap reboot to score a few bucks. Didn't help that I noticed similarities between Andrew Garfield and the new Dante in DMC Devil May Cry. However, I was pleasantly surprised with it.
Andrew Garfield is the best version of Peter Parker/Spiderman that I have seen. Sorry Tobey McGuire... Emma Stone herself was also amazing as Gwen Stacy. I found myself liking her much more than MJ. Sure, MJ is a redhead, but Gwen Stacy will always be my favourite Spiderman girl.
Much like the film itself, I was hesitant about the Lizard being the villian. Rhys Ifans, however, done a terrific job with him, and his slow decent into a "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" type character really made him one of the best things about this film.
Much of the origin story had already been done in the previous 2002 Spiderman, but some of it was handled much better here. The spider bite scene always felt a little stupid in the 2002 version, while here it makes much more sense.
The connection between Peters deceased parents and the current plot was excellent to see, something the original trilogy was missing.
It also features the best and funniest Stan Lee cameo yet.
Quite a good film overall. A bit of it felt a little familiar, but there was enough originality for me to really enjoy it.
8/10

I'm trying not to open that spoiler tag. Haven't seen The Amazing Spiderman yet. Probably won't see it until after I see The Dark Knight Rises.

It's okay. I'm probably going to see Amazing Spider-Man enough times to count for all of you Batman-people. >.>

I love the Batman movies and I like stuff about DC comics. I am team Marvel but I appreciate the other side.
That being said I refuse to see Batman opening weekend in hope Avengers can hold onto its records XD. But you can bet first showing on that Monday I will be there!
