Just thought I'd let you all know.... BATTLESHIT... is it Battleship(?) Well... I guess both titles work... no good. The film is nothing more than a high tech flop that relies on its special FX, rather than actual story structure, character development, and common sense. The film itself is two hours, and I feel like the writers wrote a 60 page script. The editor should really be shot for the length of this movie.
If you must see this because you love Rihanna and want to witness her first real acting gig, go ahead, but don't expect much out of this movie. But hey, this is only my opinion.

I don't know about Tyler Perry in this role, but I've got to think that they wouldn't cast him if he wasn't good. Though, I've been wrong before.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER
An almost decent, but flawed flick. Is the initial concept laughable? Yes. Did the writers find a way to make it, somewhat, believable? In my honest opinion, I think so. Putting everything else aside, I did enjoy the story they were trying to tell, even though it may have been jumbled up to the point of no return. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is not winning any merit awards, but for what it was, it entertained me.
There were some Oo-Ahh moments. A lot of the fight sequences, as far-fetched as they were, were pretty cool to look at. I liked this movies spin on the vampire lore and the abilities they possess, even though they totally forwent the sunlight aspect, which was just lazy.
The acting was sub par, especially from the lead actor. He character of Lincoln was on the brink of having a personality, but I found it shell-like. It may have been the script, the direction, or the actor's ability, but characterization in this film was lacking.
All in all, you could watch it if you're looking to pass the time, but don't go into it expecting something it's not, because you'll come out disappointed.
★★½

Just days after word arrived that Steven Spielberg's tentative next film, Robopocalypse, has been delayed indefinitely, comes word that should more than balance out the disappointment felt by fans: Jurassic Park IV is officially on the way with a release date of June 13, 2014!
Details on the project are currently few, but Jurassic Park IV will be produced by Spielberg with a director yet-to-be-named. It is also being planned for a 3D release.
"It's really hard to keep these things going when there's an expectation and a desire by the public and the audience to keep certain franchises going," fellow producer Kathleen Kennedy told ComingSoon.net last fall. "As filmmakers, we often sit there going, 'Okay. We have to answer the question, 'Why do another one?'' If you can't answer that question, you shouldn't be doing it. It's tough. We're trying to come up with a story that makes sense and isn't going to disappoint people and is, hopefully, going to get people excited and reinvigorate the franchise."
Currently unconfirmed, it is believed that the most recent draft of the sequel was scripted by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.
The original 1993 Jurassic Park will see a 3D re-release on April 5 of this year, also hitting IMAX 3D theaters.

^ That looks awesome! I had to watch it with no sound. What is it with destroying the white house lately (LOL). First we had - "Olympus has Fallen" - and now this. I must say that the effects don't look fake on this one. I had a complaint about Olympus because one of the scenes really looked FAKE!!!!

MGM Partners with GK Films to Produce Tomb Raider Movie
MGM has acquired the feature film rights to Tomb Raider and will develop the new action adventure franchise based on the Lara Croft video game franchise in partnership with GK Films, it was jointly announced today by Gary Barber, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, MGM and Graham King, Founder, GK Films.
GK Films had previously acquired the Tomb Raider film rights in 2011 from interactive entertainment company, Square Enix Ltd. King will serve as producer and development of the first film will begin immediately. No casting has been announced.
"Graham is one of the premier producers in this industry and I am delighted to be working with him on this exciting franchise. We look forward to developing more projects together in the future," said Barber.
King said, "I am thrilled to partner with Gary and his MGM team on rebooting this successful 'Tomb Raider' film franchise. The enthusiasm over the recent game release is very encouraging and we can’t wait to bring it to the big screen."
The original Tomb Raider game was published in 1996 by the London-based video game company Eidos and went on to become one of the most successful video games of the time. Eidos (including Crystal Dynamics) is now part of an international interactive entertainment group, Square Enix. A pop culture phenomenon, the original Tomb Raider games have sold over 35 million game units worldwide making Lara Croft one of the most recognized names in the gaming industry. Most recently, Square Enix released the highly-anticipated reboot of the series, simply titled Tomb Raider, on March 5, 2013 to critical acclaim.
In 2001 and 2003, Paramount Pictures made two feature films starring Angelina Jolie and based on the daredevil archaeologist on a series of global missions. The films grossed a total of $432 million worldwide.

I watched White House Down yesterday for some reason, and I actually liked it. Lots of action, some funny moments. And the acting from Channing Tatum as the lead was surprisingly decent. Not that I think he's a terrible actor, it's just... I don't think he's particularly good. Mind you, I've only see him in like... two movies that I would have disliked even if he wasn't in them. 21 Jump Street was pretty good. I'll give him that. But anyway... anyone else see the movie?

A fair complaint I guess, but unjustified. Correct me if I'm wrong but I've seen nothing in old vampire legends that states that vampires couldn't go out in the sunlight if they wanted to. If it's the old "Creatures of the night" thing, I can tell you this, there are a lot of nocturnal creatures in the world, but nothing bad will happen to them if they actually stepped out in the daytime.

I'm no expert on vampire mythology or folklore, and there are so many different legends about "vampire-like" creatures, from all kinds of cultures, it's hard to keep track of what came first, or if that even matters. It's all very subjective, based on personal opinion and taste. So, whatever. It wasn't the biggest "issue" I had with this movie in particular, as it had much greater flaws. I have no problem with stories where vampires are not affected by sunlight. (My own vampire series; Hellbound; allows for vampires to go out into the sun, even though there is a reason for it that will be revealed early on in arc two -- LOL SHAMELESS PLUG) But in general, I think what a writer decides to take from existing mythos and what they decide to change/add, is ultimately their decision, but I'll still have opinions on if it was presented well, or could have been done better/in a different way. In the end, nobody is supposed to care what I think, because it all boils down the personal taste, like everything else that can be critically or personally analyzed.

I was watching this trailer and thinking, "Ugh. Give me a break." And then I saw Yvonne Strahovski and everything changed.
