Happy to report that M:SCU 2x09 first draft is nearly complete! Been working at it at a consistent pace (two weeks off work has really helped me dig into scripting!), and had to rework a lot as I went on from the outline already planned, but very very happy with it. Looking forward to jumping straight into Episode 2x10!

M:SCU 2x11 and 2x12 outlined, ready to go into the final stretch of those last two episodes of the season! Finished the first draft script of 2x08 because I felt like I hadn't written anything in too long, so have now carried on, finished the Teaser and gone straight on into Act One of 2x09!

So you still will leave the actress the same? It's a little bit closer to science fiction than reality.) replacement of the actor stresses the reality)) Not that Jack needs defending, but he's already explained his reasoning earlier - it's not up to us to second-guess or cast judgement on his decision. This is a 'virtual series', after all, in its final season, with a story to tell, and I for one am looking forward to seeing how this 5-year plan finally comes to an end...

One of the things I'm most looking forward to seeing is the Bat-Family and how it's grown/expanded! I mean, you've introducied or teased certain characters like Tim Drake, Cassandra Cain, Stephanie Brown, etc, but with so much time having past, I hope we see Bruce operating with a team as back-up, not as 'a man alone' as he tried in the past. Also, I really hope we get to see more of iconic villains - I still want more Riddler and I'm praying to the Writing Gods you decide to introduce your own Penguin!

Hey guys, I just wanted to make a post addressing the stuff in the news right now — without actually bringing the specifics of that into this thread. I started this whole thing as a labour of love for the character of Chloe Sullivan who is, and always will be, my favourite character from Television. Part of the fun on this site is injecting realism into it all by "casting" actors and actresses to play these characters (or, in a lot of instances, continue playing these characters). But with that comes adapting to real life events, such as Carrie Fisher's passing. Due to the recent revelations in the news about Allison Mack, I'd have to mirror that in the writing by removing the character of Chloe Sullivan in the final season and continuing without her, rewrite what's been planned, or cancel the show and have the Season 4 finale be the series finale. But the truth is, I really want to finish this story the way it was intended to be finished. As I said before, this was always about the character of Chloe Sullivan, and blending her into a DC universe that I love. There isn't a Watchtower without Chloe Sullivan and there couldn't be a final season without her. A choice between detaching from real-world events and finishing the story versus cancelling it wasn't a super easy one but I hope you guys can understand the choice I have made and hopefully enjoy this last season with me. I wasn't going to post about this but I figured it'd come up eventually. If you guys did want to talk more about the specifics of what's going on, then I'm happy to talk in the PM's. I'm just not comfortable bringing the weight of that situation into the conversation here. All the best, Jack. I applaud this statement. This whole thing that's come to light has left me reeling, and has been many a topic of discussion on various "Smallville" groups on Facebook and across the web. I've been debating messaging you about it, but wasn't sure of how to approach it. " Watchtower" to me, while Chloe has always been the lead, has always been a heavy ensemble piece. You've allowed us to come to love Bruce, Helena, Selina, Talia, Vicki and all the other characters you introduced, while expanding on Ollie, Perry and Dinah, so there would be no shortage of characters to fill a void left by Chloe's absence if that is what you had chosen to do. I look forward to seeing how and where Watchtower S5 progresses with any changes, but I also love the new banner you've made. Archer and his journey was clearly a heavy element of what you had planned for S5, and I am excited to see what kind of role he plays in this coming season. Feel free to message me if you want. (Edited because I realize I might have misunderstood what Jack had written, so just tweaked my response a little to reflect that.)

CASTING NEWS!! MORE GUEST STARS BOOKED FOR 2x08! As previously reported by VSGuide several months ago, Metro WonderCon returns to Metropolis and is the main source of events in the 8th episode of the season, entitled " Fixate". Joining Olivia Williams, Haley Webb and Luke McFarlane will be three actors who are no stranger to working in an environment as hectic and madcap as a big-name convention or the worlds of science-fiction and action and adventure. Mark A. Sheppard has been cast as 'Mason Rothwell', a well-read and influential Hollywood money-maker, who has become the Executive Producer of the " Zenya: Warrior Priestess" reboot that is being promoted at WonderCon. Sheppard's previous credits are numerous, most recently a long stint as a regular character on CW hit " Supernatural", as well as guest appearances in " Doctor Who", " Leverage" and " Warehouse 13". Tyler Labine (" Reaper", " Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency") will be playing the part of 'Alex Edison', a somewhat over-eager fan of the original " Zenya" show, who is opposed to the reboot, not afraid to tell people how disappointed he feels about it. Although not a DC Comics character, 'Alex Edison' is inspired by the supposed name of the second 'Film Freak' (the original holder of that name appeared in " Watchtower" episode "Salvation", portrayed by Dylan O'Brien), although this character has no relation to that one. Finally, Steven Yeun (" The Walking Dead", " Voltron: Legendary Defender") will be playing the head writer and showrunner of " Zenya: Warrior Priestess", 'Kenny Lowen'. Sources on the " M:SCU" set described the character as 'seemingly happy with his current place in life, being in charge of bringing back a popular T.V. show, he soon realizes he's in over his head'. Showrunner Alex Matthews told VSGuide that, " Given the nature of the episode, these three characters are very much going to be living up to the tropes and stereotypes that exist of members of the Hollywood hierarchy." No air date for the remainder of the second season has been announced yet, but an announcement is expected within the next month...

Brian Melanson, I've been loving "Nightfall", but due to RL, haven't had the chance to read episodes on release - I'm up to Ep 4, and since it's a short season, I was going to wait till the season finished to continue... just wondering when you'll be releasing those final two episodes?

VSGUIDE EXCLUSIVE!! ERICA DURANCE CONFIRMED FOR EPISODE 2x12!!
Lois Lane is coming to " Metropolis: Special Crimes Unit"! VSGuide can confirm that " Smallville" star Erica Durance will reprise her role as the intrepid ' Daily Planet' investigative journalist in the 12th episode of the season, entitled "Shriek". During an interview, series creator Alex Matthews gave us a brief run-down on what precipitated the guest appearance: " Given the backstory of who our villain-of-the-week is, bringing Lois in as part of that storyline, to me, made a lot of sense." Matthews went on to explain why he felt it was important that Lois should make her " M:SCU" debut now, " Lois has been mentioned a few times, in passing, but we've never had an organic opportunity to focus on Lois in any real detail in previous episodes. The character made such an impact during her 7 seasons on the parent show, it felt like we'd be doing a disservice to her if she only appeared in a brief cameo - the same reasons behind expanding on Tom Welling's planned appearance in our upcoming two-parter." " Her primary interactions in this episode are helping Toby Raines (portrayed by guest star Kelly Rowan) , as she deals with the unexpected death of someone close to her," Matthews explained, " but in typical Lois-style, she soon ends up being pulled into the case-of-the-week, which deals with a DC Comics villain previously used in "Smallville", as we teased before, but with a newer twist on them." As for any details on who that villain is..? " It's all in the name of the episode," Matthews teased, " I think you can figure it out easily enough."
Feels good to post some new spoilers! Hopefully will have a few more coming out over the next few weeks!

Welcome, weary traveller, to Metropolis! One of the unsung jewels of the great state of Kansas, Metropolis is well known by its popular moniker, the 'City of Tomorrow'. It's also affectionately known as 'the Monarch City' or 'the Big Apricot', but whatever you call it, Metropolis is happy to have you visit!
From its humble beginnings as a small settlement known as 'De Vries Village' back in the mid-16th century, Metropolis has evolved into a sprawling city at the cutting edge of science and technology. A port city (with our recently opened MetroDock replacing our older dockyards) and popular tourist destination, thousands of tourists visit every day via plane, train or bus, joining with our several million residents. The city itself is split into six districts, New Troy, Bakerline, Park Ridge, Queensland Park, Hell's Gate and St. Martins.
New Troy is what many consider the hear of the city, which is comprised of 4 neighbourhoods; Downtown, Midtown, the Central Business District and Southside (also known as Hobb's Bay or the less-charming 'Suicide Slums'). A thriving centre of commerce and inspired thought, many major corporations centre their operations here, including STAR Labs, LexCorp and major newspapers like the "Daily Planet".
Bakerline (Lafayette, Hamstead, Oaktown) has been the home of Metropolis's middle class since the middle class became an economic classification. It's a place for those who can't afford a downtown apartment or want real estate that offers a more than a potted plant.
Queensland Park (Newtown, Mount Royal, Pelham, North Bridge, Old City), is a melting pot of humanity. Visitors shouldn't be surprised to find a recent German immigrant eating beside a Thai national at a Neo-Tokyo noodle bar. Old City was the location of the first settlement in Metropolis and has been designated as a national historic site.
Park Ridge (Racine, Vernon) is Metropolis oldest incorporated borough and was the location of the city's upper class. While the borough has lost some of its selectiveness lately with the opening of areas of St. Martin's Island, it remains a powerful and historic region of the city. Vernon Plaza, the city's first enclosed shopping mall, was erected here.
St. Martin's (Uptown, Eastside) is home to three theme parks, numerous public and private beaches, and the estates of many of the city's best-known families, such as the Dearbon or Kapatelis estates.
Hell's Gate (Tealboro, Senre Ville) is primarily made up of long-time residents of Metropolis. Some families living there can trace their island roots back hundreds of years - some have been living in the same houses since the 1800s. A wide range of recreational activities such as fishing, swimming, and sailing are available. Metropolis International Airport, which is one of the nation's three busiest airports, is located here.
Many of those visitors have such a great time they end up staying: who knows, maybe you could be one of them? No matter how long you stay, or what your interests might be, we know you'll get the urge to explore! You've probably already heard of some of the more famous ones, like LexCorp (formerly Luthorcorp) Plaza, the "Daily Planet" building and its famous spinning globe, and Metro Central, home to the city's police department, so here are some new places we think you'll enjoy taking the time to visit. CITY HALL
This is where out stalwart and popular incumbent mayor, Frank Berkowitz, and his team of dedicated staff make the decisions that continue to make our city such a beacon of forward-thinking and innovation. Berkowitz, currently coming to the end of his second term (and here's hoping he gets a third!), leads our City Council, which is made up of 36 council members elected from districts within the city. The districts are defined by geographic population boundaries and are redrawn every twenty years following every other U.S. census. Queensland Park leads the city in the number of city council seats, followed by New Troy, Bakerline, Park Ridge, St. Martin's Island, and Hell's Gate, respectively.
METROPOLIS COURTHOUSE
The "Hall of Justice" is where Lowell County District Attorney Adrian Chase and his crack team of prosecutors work to keep criminals off our fair streets. Protecting and defending the rights of our citizens are law firms like "Drake, King & Associates" or "Grabemann, Hoben, & Ross".
8TH PRECINCT, METROPOLIS POLICE DEPARTMENT
With the birth of the so-called 'supervillain', and the increasing number of metahuman-related crimes, the Special Crimes Unit of the MPD has had a larger role in protecting our city and it's inhabitants over the past few years. Lead by veteran officer Captain Maggie Sawyer, she and her trusted team operate out of the newly renovated 8th Precinct (donated back to the city by Lex Luthor). Thanks to increased funding and close ties with the Department of Domestic Security (via the agencies A.R.G.U.S. and the D.E.O.), its officers and staff have a high level of training that is becoming standard for all new recruits to this Unit.
S.T.A.R. (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND RESEARCH) LABORATORIES
The Science and Technology Advanced Research Laboratories is an organization founded by a scientist named Garrison Slate, who wanted a nationwide chain of research laboratories unconnected to the government or any business interests. Now, S.T.A.R. Labs has expanded on an international scale, with facilities in Canada, Europe, Australia, and Japan as well as in the United States. The central branch in Metropolis is most likely one of the more recognizable branches, lead by Dr. Dabny Donovan.
HSC INTERNATIONAL
One of the biggest players in the world of finance, HSC International's new offices in the Central Business District show that Metropolis is cementing its place as one of the world's centres of business. Not much is known about those that work behind the scenes keeping the world economy balanced and productive, but with other businesses, like Holt Industries, Cale-Anderson Pharmaceuticals and Kord Technologies, looking to relocate their own headquarters to Metropolis, we thank them for showing this is the place to be!
THE DAILY STAR
You've heard of the "Daily Planet", right? Who hasn't?! But did you also know that it's fiercest competitor, the "Daily Star", is also primarily based out of Metropolis? One of the leading media businesses in the city of Metropolis, the Star is a leading competitor to the "Daily Planet". Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists like Toby Raines and Victor Sage are on staff, and several prominent stories (such as the recent reveal of 'Superboy') were printed here first!
So, that's our top choices. But Metropolis is full of hidden treasures it could take a lifetime to discover - so here's hoping you make the smart choice, and stay a while!

CREATOR'S NOTES: So, this is an in-universe guide to some of the frequent locations in our humble series. New locations may appear from time to time, over the course of the run of the series, depending on what new places appear. I just felt it would enhance the reading having actual locations. Since Vancouver doubled as Metropolis during " Smallville", I used many actual Vancouver buildings, with thanks to Darrin McCann for his amazing finishing touches to them!

Just read the first episode of "Blue Star", really enjoyed it.
There are a lot of similarities with "Knight's Haven", a scripted series I read years ago from somewhere or other, the MZP, maybe? But even in this quick 20-page opener, I can see that it's already very different. I look forward to seeing where it goes...

Dreams are good... 😋
As much as I also would have personally loved a crossover, the 2 shows are very different, and I don't think a direct meeting would have been likely. But that's not to say an indirect one might not happen, even with the time-jump. It's something me and Jack can discuss at a later point, for sure, and would more then likely happen once "Watchtower" has come to an end.

Hmm, I wonder if Archer will take on the mantle of 'Red Arrow', or maybe be another 'Speedy'..? I'm really looking forward to reading Archer's perspective of the world - this is a kid who, presumably, knows his dad is/was a 'superhero', depending on where things stand 12 years on from Vicki's death. Even if he doesn't, though, he's still grown up in a world where "superheroes vs supervillains" is part of every-day life, the Justice League saves the world on a regular basis and aliens walk among the people of the Earth. I wonder what will constitute 'weird' for him..? I've also noticed today the 'tagline' for this season - now, "No Man's Land" was one of the first Batman storylines I ever read - I remember borrowing it from my local library several times to keep re-reading it. I'm really looking forward to seeing how you interpret that storyline into the VPNDCU!

Ohhh, intrigued! Love a good conspiracy!! I have had suspicions on who might be the unlucky one, not sure if they're well-founded though...
Question: Not sure if this has been addressed, but having Chloe as E-i-C of the "Vale Verity", can we assume that Veronica has some kind of work relationship with Chloe, or is the blog/paper named after Vicky?

You've talked a lot about how this season is one of reflection, and that a lot of characters previously established will be returning, alongside all the newbies being introduced... So, I have to ask, will we be seeing some of my favourite villains back? I'm personally praying for the return of The Riddler - I loved his inclusion, and just wish it had been bigger. But I also hope to see more or Harley and Ivy together!

VSGUIDE EXCLUSIVE REVEAL!! TOM WELLING TO MAKE "M:SCU" DEBUT IN UPCOMING TWO-PARTER!! Yes, you read that right! Metropolis's favourite adopted son, ' Superman', will be making his auspicious first appearance very soon! Welling, who is currently starring as 'Marcus Pierce/Cain' in hit supernatural police procedural " Lucifer" will appear in an extended cameo in 2x09, which also features the upcoming return of Alan Ritchson and Elene Satine as 'King Orin' and 'Queen Mera'. " As we were breaking down the story," explains series creator Alex Matthews, " we knew we needed a scene that established the bigger world outside Metropolis, and the reason why Atlantis is willing to come to the table and deal with the United Nations. Given the fact that we know 'Superman ' is back in action, saving people all across the world, it made sense that these two powerful men - the world's most respected superhero and the former ecoterrorist turned ruling monarch of the seven seas - would come into contact at some point. The fact that they're old friends allows Clark to give Arthur some advice he desperately needs." As for the smaller nature of the role, Matthews told VSGuide, " Tom is very busy with his "Lucifer " schedule, so we're thankful for whatever time he could spare. But it's important to us to not have Superman, or any 'capes', as an easy fix for our heroes on the show. Yeah, there will be times when they have that resource available, and during the course of the two-parter, the team will make use of having the Royal Family of Atlantis available, but Superman is a symbol of hope. He's moved on from the simple days of street-level crime because he realizes that his destiny is bigger than that. He is here to inspire humanity to it's fullest potential, while also protecting it from it's darker nature." Welling will appear in 2x09: " Trident".
