There'll be a lot more to recap after the mid-season finale with all the characters, so that's why it'd be better to do it then. But I think what Chris is doing is a wonderful idea, and it really brings everyone up to speed if they've missed an episode or two. xD

hi i have just started reading watchtower and it is really good! it perfectly captures the esscence of a tv show and not just a fandom fanfic. i have one question: will a certain red-head, eco-terrorist botanist be appearing any time soon?

Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback -- as for Tess Mercer being on the show, you'll have to highlight the following to find out the answer to that: Tess Mercer will be on Trinity sometime in its second season, so she won't be appearing anytime this season on Watchtower, sorry.

"Fear" was just so much fun. As always with 'Watchtower', things flow on perfectly and every character (mostly) gets a fair share of screentime. Helena's parts were brief, but I loved them, especially when she found her dad. I think I'm now officially a fan of Brelina/Sruce? Bruce and Selina's relationship, anyhow. xD In this episode, I grew quite interested with Emil 2 (I'm gonna call him that from now on, lol xD) and not just because I love them 'Call me when you're in big trouble' characters, but because I'm curious as to what he could possibly be up to. The best part of this episode, however, was definitely Chloe's part, while she was being held captive. That was brilliant storytelling, with the Chloe #2 and all.
10/10. Onto the next one.

^^ Wow, thank you! Bruce and Selina's relationship is something that really happened on its own. It was going to be just a little bit of a fling in the premiere, but I really felt compelled to keep writing scenes between them, and then a relationship just came out of it, and it took off from there. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it after the next few episodes. Gah, I have so much fun writing Emil, its not even funny. I'm going to miss writing him, but he needs to get some closure. In this episode, it was fun to play on that 'trust' and the relationship between him and Oliver is always fun to write. Thank you sooo much. Your feedback has definitely made my night, and I'm really happy that you enjoyed this episode so much. This episode allowed me to sort of go back and make some connections to the Smallville show canon to try and link these shows up even more, without just *click* forcing it. Chloe's fears were fun to get into, and yeah ... I'm glad you liked it! Thank you!

At the teaser of 'Arkham' and... Oh my god? Why do you throw around Selina like that? xD Two episodes in a row, she's been in a 'blood everywhere' situation. Poor girl..

Wow. Just finished 'Arkham'. I'll probably have to stamp this as my favorite episode of the season so far. I love what you did with Chloe this episode, the dark twist with her literally threatening to KILL Emil. That was great (well, for her character... I mean, I don't approve of cold-blooded murder, don't think I do! >.>). Helena's parts were as usual; brief, but interesting. She's not included that much these last few episodes, but unlike other characters on TV the few scenes she has actually BRING something to the story, so she's not just around for the sake of it. That's a great thing. And Perry... poor Perry. One can't help but feel sorry for the guy after everything he goes through in ONE darn episode. Related to him, I applaud you for giving me shivers right at the end of the episode there:
^That.
Jeremiah was a great villain, also. Perfect casting there, as, like his character here, Robert Carlyle scares the bejezus out of me. After '28 Weeks Later' I can't look at the guy the same way, so your description of his character as 'demonic' had a whole deeper meaning to me. xD Sorry, ranting..
And, finally, but certainly not least --
Petition for Emil Hamilton 2 to rejoin the main cast, anyone?
Seriously, the guy's brilliant. I think I'll have to name him my definite favorite character on the show. His interactions with each and every character is great, but I especially enjoy his interactions with Chloe. They've got LOADS of chemestry! (please don't Chlollieurder me now, or something >.>...)
10/10.

^That's awesome! This was probably my favourite episode to write of the season so far, mainly because it was a big episode for Perry (and introduced Arkham Asylum), as well as Emil. And as I've said, Emil has been one of my top favourite characters to write for this season. Helena definitely only manages to scrape up 7-8 minutes an episode, but like you said, it adds to the main plot. A lot of it had to do with her getting a slow start to the season -- she was very detached, seeking a normal life while the majority of the main characters are so deep in the hero business, and all were embedded into the main plot. Helena was very distant from that, and only really started to get dragged into it recently. Perry has definitely had it rough so far this season. I loved ending the episode on that scene, where Perry comes forward with all that he knows, and Chloe doesn't even really react fully to it. She just sort of leaves, and walks out on him. Their relationship has been pretty strained thus far, and its been fun writing them that way, to be honest. There's a lot more between them when the show returns. And yay, I'm glad someone likes Emil as much as me. Unfortunately his arc this season is to wrap his character up. Last season I ended his story pretty abrubtly for the sake of closing up the season, and I screwed him over so much that I felt terrible, and it was always a plan to have him in season two so I had to work around his death. And this new version of Emil has been one of my favourite characters to write for. I'm so glad you like him so much. And, lmfao. Don't worry, the relationships I ship changes each week, depending on the episode I'm writing. Especially with Chloe. I'm pretty sure a lot of people were convinced Chloe and Emil were getting together in Season Nine (of Smallville) when spoilers came out that she'd be getting a new boytoy. lol! Thanks for the review!! I really appreciate you catching up on the show, and taking the time to leave feedback. It meas a lot!

Remember that thing I said around "Knight" or "Lockdown" about this season really looking to be one HECK of a season, comparable to BtVS Season 2? Well, post-"Speedy" I'm gonna have to reinforce that statement. This is looking to be one of the best seasons of television never made!
"Speedy" was pulled off BRILLIANTLY and managed to strike all the emotional points it obviously aimed for. That's probably the word I'd use to sum the episode up, too, in one word: Emotional, in a very, very good way.
Seriously, I'm not kidding, getting me to care for characters like that isn't very easy, not a lot of things get me sad. But just about every other scene in this episode, IMAO, managed to do that. From the fantastic confrontation between Chloe and Helena in The Wathtower HQ, to Bruce's interrogation scenes and ultimately getting left behind, to the revelation about Mia in the end... and finally, Helena's death. The way you wrote that part in particular was great, how everything had sort of been resolved and Chloe and Oliver were enjoying a moment of peace... and then Helena basically just walks in and dies and Bruce's television speech intercuts with that to add to the pile of shit.
Alright, now for some shorter words about each key points:
Brelina
At first, I was annoyed at the way Selina rejected Bruce at the start of the episode and was like: "Really? This is happening?", but the way it played off with Bruce's "departure" and Selina's reaction at the end really flipped that thing over for the better (plotwise, obviously not for those two characters...).
Helena
Now Helena's part was something that could have very easily been pulled off poorly, feeling clichéd and stuff... I'm glad to see this was not the case here. As mentioned above, the confrontation in the Watchtower HQ was excellent and when Helena shot Chloe like that... wow. Am I a terrible person if I felt more sad for Helena there than for Chloe? >.>
And Mia/Speedy herself
I don't think it's a secret that I haven't read Season One (in a solid, coherent, chronological way, at least), so getting me to CARE and feel SAD for Mia (to me, a character I had just gotten to know) when the awful revelation at the end popped up. I don't know if that "Speedy, offline" was meant to be symbolic... but that's the point where I really felt "They're never gonna see her again". That's when it really got to me. Great work there, Jack! (And overall, of course)
Now here's a quote to lighten up all the depressing stuff that happened here:
Gah, I love Selina! xD
Would you guess it's yet another 10/10? Again, great work here! And bring on "Recruit!" (x

^Wow, thank you! This means a lot to me. Especially being compared to such an epic series as Buffy the Vampire Slayer (and that particular awesome season)!
I'm so glad you enjoyed this episode. I was a little worried that some of the other big elements of the episode would be overlooked by Mia's return, and the focus on her character as it was her final episode of the series, but I'm glad that it didn't seem to do that.
The Bruce/Selina relationship road bump was another thing I was concerned about, but Selina's sudden change in feelings just represents her character so well. She's in unfamiliar territory, as she said in one of the previous episodes that no one has cared about her so much before - she's having doubts, and she doesn't want to have her heart broken. She needs to keep strong, and keep that tough exterior. So it makes more sense looking at it from that angle. And when Selina finally is ready to admit to those doubts and get the relationship back on track, Bruce has "left." So yeah, its fun to write. There's some great stuff between them in "Recruit."
About Helena ... I really wanted people to connect more with Helena on this, because she's a very human, very flawed person. She wants what a lot of people want ... a normal, happy life. And things keep getting in the way of that - this being another obsticle. She was very much fighting to keep Chloe and Guido, and everyone else she loved alive, and so that scene where she does inflict pain on Chloe, its very much to protect her. I was definitely edging for readers to connect more with Helena in this situation and feel more for her than "Ugh, Helena's a bitch. I can't believe she shot Chloe," kind of thing. LOL, so yeah, that's not bad at all. xD
The show didn't really find its feet until Season Two, IMO. Although I enjoyed reading and writing the first season, I'm more proud of the story going on this season, and I'm more familiar with all the characters, and what to do with them. The first season was a lot of set up, and a lot of connecting, and yeah. Now I feel like I can do just about anything, so I'm glad you started with Season Two, and I hope if you ever do decide to read the first season, you still do enjoy it. Mia was a regular, but had a very small role.
The reason behind bringing Mia back for an episode this season was because last season was meant to be 13 episodes, but Mia's big send off episode got lost on my computer, and so I decided to cut the season short and just write a different send off for her in season two. And so that's why I brought her back. But yes, this was her last episode. It definitely sends her on her own heroic path as "Speedy." She was very much the 'sidekick' in season one, and she didn't really know who she was. So in this episode, she comes back, and she knows what she wants, who she is, and what she is going to do with her life.
Thank you so much! All this praise is making me incredibly happy. I just finished writing "Catwoman," and came on the forum to find this, and gah, best night ever. Hahaha. And, lmfao. I love Selina. I probably sound like a douche whenever I talk about how much I love an episode I've written or a character from the show, but its alright. Selina has a lot of great stuff coming up in the first two episodes back. I can't wait for you to read them! xD
Thanks again! Now I need to try and wipe this permanent grin off my face and catch some 'zzzzzzzzs.' Completely forgot I have to wake up for school in 3 hours. Oh and sorry for the steriod induced rant reply. I always post so much :/

Something that just occured to me, from "Arkham". What exactly is 'Darkwatch'? I'm about 95, 8% sure it's something from Season One?

^^ HAHA. Yeah, 'Darkwatch' was one of Emil(1)'s projects. He was creating a massive ass metahuman army, and Darkwatch was basically the guy that would lead them, and he needed a strong warrior for it. At the end of season one, he had kidnapped Oliver, and forced it onto him. But then Chloe and Dinah showed up and kicked some ass and saved him.
